im new to this. what do you call those swept back handlebars? is there a name for that? and also the modified smaller seat with the half dome on the back?
@kwoffy The handlebars are called Clubmans, they frame the stock tach/speedo on these bikes well, but I prefer clip-on bars to these now. The seat I had custom upholstered from using the stock seat pan.. The little bump-stop at the back was meant to mimic the "cowl" you see on most bikes.
@JSVyolence great. thanks. looking to get my own cb one day and get into modifications and racing. Great job on yours tho. Its perfect, especially the flat black on the frame and the green tank and seat. love that color.
nice bike. i just got a 72 cb500, and got some clubmans for it. today, i started taking the controls off of the stock bars, and realized that some of the wiring is going through the bars. i thought this was gonna be an easy thing to do. was wondering if you had any tips for me before i start taking everything apart. thanks.
@jerkscurvy I learned that the hard way as I was sawing through my '76 550K stock handle bars. I just spliced 'em back together, one by one, & wrapped them with electrical tape. No problems.
Thanks for the comment! Took me about 2 months to build. Ran well when I got it. I just removed the stock mufflers and had 4 chrome tips welded on, because I liked the way it sounded uncorked. The rest was all cosmetic (bars, mirrors, seat, fender.) Cut the fender myself. I plan on cutting and re-installing the rear fender, painting the tank and side-covers, and purchasing some bigger tires. Will get some new footage up after those mods. :)
@JSVyolence I have the exact same bike and just pulled the mufflers so I am also running straight headers. I am, however, a bit worried about doing so. Have you ran into any problems with it getting too hot? They just sound too damn mean with open pipes! I don't think i could go back to a muffled "sewing machine" sound
@imseamless No problems at all. Didn't have to re-jet or do any thing to the carbs either. Sounded awesome! The bike has a really cool "rumble" noise to it. I've taken the mufflers off on other bikes that sounded like helipcopters, but the 350-F won't sound annoying like that. It's perfect. :)
By the way, the updated video of this bike is up under this user name. I sold the bike on Craigslist recently and put some more time into my Kawasaki KZ440 Cafe/Bobber. I'll miss this bike!
