  • K. In all seriousness, forget about the choppiness, you're actually a pretty good guitarist. You play pretty clean

  • Is he playing along with a scratched CD or something???

  • Hmm I play this slightly different, but great job man [:

  • you sound a little off time

  • Satriani Ibanez is the most beautiful guitar to me beside les paul studio in white and gold

  • try for teh clean parts putting your toggle swtich on the neck it allows the note to ring and have a cleaner tone

  • Awesome. Now you need a drummer!

  • then they can start a Tool cover band!

    zzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • awsome man awsome

  • Wow! You're an amazing guitarist, just relax a little, let it flow. Again, great job!!! =]

  • WRONG! WRONG! WRONG!

just kidding man. good job. i just think you need to relax a little bit and play with more your heart than your mind. once you get past that, you'll be a little more creative and add our own stuff.

    keep rockin'.

  • awesome, but relax a bit

  • Nice job....cool guitar to man!I think that's a Satriani model Ibanez;either way I think Ibanez makes a really nice guitar, especially for the money-

  • no ones making a fool of them selves when they cover music they like, youtube is fludded with talented musicians who are tributing there fave bands. nothing wrong with that.

  • You make a fool of yourself what3what when you come up with such a stupid comment.

  • very nice job. at certain parts you seem to be playing too fast but i think its the video.

  • nice work

  • I love S series Ibanez...

  • good playing, bad technique, ehh, 5/5 to even out the score, though i would give you a 4/5. Nice pinch harmonics by the way.

  • Besides the vid being choppy as a sushi shop, you get a 5/5 anyway. Nice playing nikker guy.

  • Very nice bro.

  • maby that errick guy was complementing on you on how similar the real track sounds and your playing. lol

  • I wish my friends who guitar would learn tool...i love playin the drums to this song.

  • nice, real tight.

  • "Fine, if you don't want to watch them, just hit that little red x in the corner."

Pardon me sir, but you put this on the internet, so you're gonna hear both positive and negative comments, just like you will in real life. You're playing was good, the choppiness of the video was annoying. I wouldnt say you kickass, because there are thousands of us that can play that(or anything in drop D for that matter).

  • Ok, I know I won't hear positive comments all the time.. but that's not the point, the point is, is that if that guy doesn't want to watch my vids, why bother telling me he doesn't want to watch it. Same goes for in real life, why bother coming up to me and telling me that he didn't want to listen to me play music when he could've just walked away? There's no point.

  • understood.

  • if ur brother dosent want to hear you playing punk him right in the nose because when tool or a tool song is being playing everybody gotta shut up and let it end it

  • @jimmah01 your logic is amazing

  • Rrrrrrrrrr....Im tired of all these covers. You should do your own thing. I dont know about anyone else, but I dont care if people can play The Patient. IVE HEARD IT BEFORE!!! Do your own thing. I can play covers too, but I dont put them all over youtube.Your awsome at guitar dude. Id really like to hear something YOU composed. Sorry for the negativity. Im just tired of seeing all these duetchebags video taping themselves playing cover songs all over youtube.

  • Fine, if you don't want to watch them, just hit that little red x in the corner. I do have my own stuff, but if I'm gonna show people, it's gonna be at a gig, not on the internet (yeah, it may eventually appear on the net many, many months after I gig, but not straight away). Some people like to watch these vids because it helps them learn it themselves. Personally, I don't care what they watch it for, if at all, but if it makes them happy, fantastic. Thanks anyway though..

  • i agree jimmah01. i watch a lot of covers on youtube to learn how to play the song myself. you've made good points, and you're right.

  • @ErickXD14 i got some original work...

  • learn alternate picking. and the vid speeding up is incredibly annoying, but good otherwise.

  • I do alternate pick. But if I find something more comfortable to pick downwards, why change it? It doesn't affect my sound at all. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Thanks anyway.

  • @jimmah01 i agree, i alternate pick, yet i find downwards picking easiest for the beginning of this song

  • nice. keep on learnin!

  • thats good shit man. keep rockin

  • YOU KICK KILLITONS OF ASS BRO!!!

  • Very good. Your pinched harmonics were dead on. Great tone etc...

I was going to post some pointers, but theres a 500 char limit to posts...lame

Just need to work on timing, and how many strings your hitting in the power chords (difficult in drop d). Keep it up

  • man, that minion guy is pretty anti-put up the whole musical collection

    anyways, good cover

  • Dude.. You want to see how people play the songs. I'm a person, I'm doing exactly what you want. I've posted about 14 or so videos. Compare that to opiateofthemasses' 33 videos. I want to know: What the hell are you complaining about?

  • All I am saying is focus on maybe writing some of your own stuff instead of trying to perfect someone else's musical art.

  • I do write my own stuff. I don't focus on perfecting it, I've just learned the songs and i'm sharing them with the world. I don't see what's wrong with learning someone else's song and playing it for people. Does that mean you then hate all cover bands, whether they are band specific, genre specific or era specific? Your justification is wrong.

  • yah minion c'mon. if the guy can play TOOL songs, let him share them. other people may actually WANT to watch this dude's covers, you aren't the only person watching videos dude. not trying to be mean either.

  • You'r great. Some Tool fans like Toolminion try to be something theyre not and also think they know better than everybody what their (tool) music is about. They try to show off with who knows the most (ignorant and arrogant bastards.) I think you should keep it up and do whatever you want. Great video :)

  • Dude, If I wanted to listen to The Patient, Id just put in the CD. Message back when you got your own stuff on here.

  • pretty good

i like to play the sencond part of the intro wit different fretting though... really no difference though...

    D ----0---2

    A 0-3---0--

    D ---------

    REALLY GOOD BRO

  • That was great! The video was skipping in several places for sure...

  • sounds good, fuck the ignorant fags who leave comments with nothing good in them, just clean it up a bit.

  • pretty good, but i think you may have missed a note at the end of the intro. You kind of have a tendency to rush your timing, as you did on the lateralus video (i watched this second). but stil great!

  • Part of it may be the video skipping. If not, then you're probably right, I know my timing's not perfect. Can you give me a time reference with that note you think I missed?

  • Its not the intro, its after the first lyrical progession, but now that i watched it again the tape may have skipped. one quick hammer on that maybe due to the chorus he's using like i said.

  • Not bad, not Breathetaking but not bad. But that guitar has soo many pickups it looks funny IMO (in comparison to my 2 pick up SG) Nonetheless is was pretty solid.

  • It's just 2 humbuckers and a single coil in the middle...

  • good job man

  • Good job, could you tell me how you make that really short sound on the first part and through the verses? Maybe I sound like an idiot, but I am really bad at guitar because I just started. I guess I dont know how you make the notes end so short. Anywho, good job man.

  • I assume you're talking about the artificial harmonics. If that's what you're talking about, you move your thumb and forefinger up closer to the end of the pick and when you pick the string follow through with the side of your thumb and lightly touch the string with it. Practice this on the 7th fret of the G string, that's probably the easiest place for it. And once you get it, start moving your picking hand up and down the string to get different harmonics. Hope that helps. And thanks!!

  • Oh and by the way, make sure you've got your guitar on bridge pickup (pickup setting closest to the bridge), not neck pickup (pickup setting closest to the neck/fretboard), it's harder to do it on neck pickup, it's possible, but harder.

  • Jimmah01, could you please send me a link of the tabs you use because cant find tabs from the 2:30 - 3:30 part. Great job and thank you in advance m8!

  • Nah mate sorry, I don't use tabs, I hate them, I use my ears coz I trust them more.

  • God I love the part from 2:49-3:30!

    Good job man.

  • What type of guitar is that?

  • It's an Ibanez 450S... Or S450... (Written as 450S on the headstock). Either way, that's what it is. They're no longer in production. They don't have them on the Ibanez website, but they have the 470S, but it's very different.

  • beginning a little off but the rest kicks ass. way to go. keep doing other songs.

    suggestion: the passenger-deftones feat. Maynard

  • good but probably the easiest tool song to learn on guitar.

  • that was pretty rockin man, one of my fav tool songs

  • great song :D

  • "But I'm still right here givin' blood keepin' faith, and I'm still right here. But I'm still right here givin' blood keepin' faith, and I'm still right here!!!

  • Not bad. Actually pretty god. Some parts better done than opiateofthemasses.

  • Cheers.

  • Great job, bro! Really good!
