Hahahaha my dog used to the do the same thing when he was playing with us he would get so happy. And bam he would run around the house in in circles like he was a greyhound on the track hahaha. Brings back great memories, may he rest in peace! I want a fennec fox they are awesome love the big ears!
I don't know if you people have ever had cats, but my cats do this sort of thing. Not all the time, but then again, they don't have as much energy. They get excited. That's how it works. And no one would accuse me of 'imprisoning' my overly hyper cat.
@DuskmoonTodd Don't have as much energy? You should see my cat, Salem xD he's half Maine coone and legitimately can run up a wall because he's so fast - high enough to reach the picture frames which are more than halfway up! He never stops, not even for a minute, lol. Up and down the stairs, round the living room, over the beds, you name it xD. This Fennec is so adorable and I think the owner's doing a great job - he's obviously healthy and happy, that's all that matters.
-All animals at one time or another were considered "wild".
-People complain that cats/dogs were domesticated millions of years ago. Ok so what. You have to start somewhere just because we are behind on raising foxes doesn't mean we "Shouldn't" I mean really wtf kind of logic is this.
-Lastly: would you rather be a bored as fox in a home with all the free food you can eat or one in the wild whose only concern is when and if you get to eat today.
@LoveTheRedMist You're the one with the crappy logic. Not to mention clearly misinformed on how cats and dogs came to evolve into non-wild species. It had nothing to do with bringing a wild species animal into a human home and raising it. There's no paralel between the evolution of wild canine and feline species into modern domestic cats and dogs and the "domestication" of wild species animals today. And even if human homes are more comfortable, wild animals belong in the wild.
@ichifeuertrunk Why in the world would I follow the command of someone who resorts to personal insults when confronted with a logical argument? I think not. Also, your condecending and self righteous attitude isn't helping your argument at all.
I have dogs that act like this, and no one's telling me to release THEM into the wild. I'm sure this fox would be as well off as any of my dogs if any of them were released into the wild. Which is to say not very well of at all.
@ichbifeuertrunk My mother always told me it's all right to have an opinion, but just like a penis it's not okay to take it out and wave it all over the place just because you FEEL JUSTIFIED to do so. We don't care about your opinions, and all you are accomplishing is stirring the pot.
It's obvious by the way he moves and bounces he's happy. His fur is full and fluffy, not splotchy or thin like it is on -stressed out and uncared for animals.- He's got muscle tone and in most of the videos he isn't fat. If any of you naysayers ever had a dog you'd know that high energy dogs have moments of high energy where they express themselves fully. Plus every species has it's own unique way of expressing their emotions. Since you don't know the animal how can you assume how he feels?

Shouldn't this creature be running free in the wild, instead of confined indoors? The place where it was born makes no difference, by the way. All that matters is its species. If it's a wild animal, it shouldn't be kept as a pet.
Cairo was not born to be wild, or into the wild, he was born and raised to be a pet. Whether that is right or wrong is all subjective, therefore your opinion does not matter-- All that matters now is that Cairo is well taken care of. He will never have a plane ticket to Africa--- that's a death sentence, and a traumatic plane experience waiting to happen. Cairo has adapted and is attached--the only place he belongs is with me.
@thedizzyedge Obviously I'm not sugesting you send this particular animal to Africa. What I'm saying is that wild animals shouldn't have been made into pets in the first place.
@ichbifeuertrunk I know I have no room to talk and you as well have absolutely no room to talk because you obviously know nothing about the domestication of animals. Look at horses, dogs, or cats all have been wild at some point in history and things change throughout history. So get over it, get on with your own life and let others live theirs!
@NWtwin2011 "I know I have no room to talk" - You're comment should have ended right there. If you think that "horses, dogs or cats" were domesticated simply by taking wild animals into human homes and raising them, then it's you who know nothing about the domestication of animals. As for your advice to "get over it, get on with your own life and let others live theirs", I suggest you follow it and leave me alone.
@ichbifeuertrunk so dogs and cats should never have been domesticated in your view? Id rather look after an animal rather than letting it get torn apart in the wild.
@ViolentCrazyDayz4 Dogs and cats haven't really been "domesticated", the way you probably mean it. Due to several processes, certain wild especies naturaly evolved into non-wild species. That took thousands and thousands of years. At no point was a wild species animal simply taken into a human home and "domesticated". What happened was a slow and gradual transformation from one species into another, due to evolution.
@ViolentCrazyDayz4 I'll grant you that to "look after an animal rather than letting it get torn apart in the wild" sounds like a very good and charitable thing to do. But what it really is is undue human interference with nature. Not a good idea at all.
I'm not sugesting you send THIS particular animal to Africa. But wild animals belong in the wild. Wild animals are different from wild species animals. A lion born and raised in captivity is not a wild animal. But Lion is still a wild species animal. Dog, however, is not a wild species animal, even if some dogs are not born and raised in captivity. Wild species animals shouldn't be made into pets in the first place. But once it happens, there's no point sending them to the wild.
@ichbifeuertrunk He's a domesticated fox. A fennec. He's bred to be a pet. And it's not a wild animal or else it wouldn't be allowed to be kept as a pet.

I think it runs like this because it is an freaking wild animal that should be running trought the desert, not traped into a small apartment. It´s sad that it ended up tamed like this... just sad really, not cute.
#1: This animal was born in the United States. He was not born into the wild.
#2: He is running like this because he was excited after interactions with people and a domestic cat. I was there, I would know.
#3: I don't live in a "small apartment". I live in a house with a full basement and backyard.
#4: I just spent hours moving stuff around from the basement to my upstairs and Cairo was behind me the whole time. He seems very well attached and perfectly okay. That's my observation
@nibos2111 Actually cats do this too when they are excited, you can tell by the movement if it's stress or happiness. It sure looks like happy running and jumping to me, if he was sad he would have a different kind of behaviour. Still i agree that too many wild animals are domesticated in the US.
This animal is for outside use. If you keep it in the house it goes crazy as you can see on the pictures. It is not a funny game for him.... shame on it's owner...
@NegativeNumbers Fennec foxes actually do Very well in the home. They are easily excited and love to run. There are many dogs and cats who have this same behavior and its not indicative of anything being wrong with them.
@thedizzyedge: Cute little fellow! The are found in the wild in North Africa and can be good pets, but should be kept in warm environment, not under 20 Celcius :-)

1. Give caffeine.
2. Wait for fox to run toward you.
3. Fox will now appear blue.

@ichbifeuertrunk Yes, the wild is so great where an animal (especially a predator) can easily get wounded and slowly starve to death. Gotta love it!
Fennecs make great pets if the owner has a backyard (which s/he said s/he did) and knows how to care for them properly.
