I like the speech. Many people in California take human caused global warming as a religious view. I believe it is due to the gravitational pull of Jupiter, Saturn, and the black hole in the middle of the milky way. These forces cause the periodic Ice ages and melt-downs. I prefer the data from the Antarctic ice core samples as evidence of climate change before humanity was human.

The ocean is getting warmer. It holds much more energy than the atmosphere. It's already over loaded and resulting in extinction of various kinds of fish and crustaceans. If the bottom of the food chain disappears the top follows.

How does the polar shift constitute global warming? The two have nothing to do with each other. By definition, warming is increasing in temperature, and global means it is happening around the world. The polar shift has nothing to do with that: it is the switching of the poles in the earth's core beneath its surface, causing major earthquakes and whatnot. Warming doesn't cause that. Wow. Grow a brain.
I never said it would increase temperatures alone - however that it would change temperatures all over. Some areas would increase in average temperature and others would decrease. The polar shift screws with Earth's axis allowing some areas to be more hit by sunlight than others - thus the Earth's climates as well as the ocean temperatures WOULD adjust.

Actually, that's false as well. The US oil reserves would last 25 years at an expanded rate, and there are a few more centuries worth of oil shale in the North, such as Alaska. We aren't running out, not by a longshot.

well the way i knew it was fake was this. if al gore says second half will cause water to rise by 16 metres, that means 1 half has already melted, so why would the first half not have the same effect. i also know polars are not going extinct. they are at their population limit and are lowering down to 6,000 and will rise to 30,000 again. i also know that eastern ice is old ice and west the new, and as more ice is created it is pushed further east until it falls off as an iceberg.

The warming oceans will only cause ice that is in the water to melt, not land ice. If the ice is already in the water, then it will not increase the water level. The Arctic and Greenland still average sub-freezing temperatures year round, which means that the land ice will not completely melt away.

Global warming is true. However, the effects proclaimed are wrong. We did increase the temperature of the planet, by a very, very small amount, almost insignificant. If we weren't there, the CO2 we breathe and produce wouldn't be there, but the planet is simply too big and too strong to be affected by such a thing. The toxins and unatural fumes did pierce a hole through the ozone layer, but CO2 has NOTHING to do with that. So it's stop polluting not stop global warming.
Actually, the hole claimed to have been created by man's chemicals is rather insignificant as well. There has always been a hole in the ozone, which is naturally caused by UV rays colliding with 03 molecules. The effects of chlorofluorocarbons was greatly exaggerated because the creator did not want others making money off of his discovery after his patent expired.
That interesting to know. But why would the hole only appear in one place. I mean yeah, the earth's magnetic field isn't particularly uniform due to changes in height above sea level, but is that significant? My question is, why would a hole only take place at one spot if it was a natural process?
There are actually two holes. The holes are along the poles. They change throughout the seasons, depending on if the pole is tilted towards or away from the sun. There is minor ozone depletion across the globe, but the regeneration occurs just as quickly in most locations, so a hole does not form.

If you take a look at history just the mere idea that Hitler was developing the A-bomb justified the Manhattan Project, which cost billions of dollars that I bet could have been put to better use elsewhere. Changing climates will not cause the destruction of the human race. Humans are of the few known organisms that has the ability to adapt to any climate. We've gone to every region and populated it. You also need to take a look at history. Since man has lived, there have been "drastic climate changes," and yet our numbers continued to grow.

The only problems that I have with that are that they are already teaching children in school the things that they aren't positive about and that they wish to use our money to fix a problem that may not be fixable. Besides that, listing organizations is pointless. There are many organizations that argue against AGW theories. If you want a list of some of them, then I would be more than happy to send you one.
Well, you could argue with simple facts. We know for a fact that both, CO2 levels and ocean temperatures are increasing, we know that our planet experiences regular cycles, we know that the sun goes through cycles, we know that CO2 and temperature have a natural lag, and we know the basic chemical and physical properties of various greenhouse gasses. People often ignore what we actually know, and they attempt to make simple comparisons.

Hey MadeHero did you ever hear about the "salt pump" that is responsible for driving the north atlantic current?? As a result of warming it may shut down and infact make an ice age start in northern europe. It may be hard to wrap your head around but it is fact.
I already know that a massive desalination of our oceans will cause oceanic currents to stop. It has happened before. However, the currents have not begun to shut down yet. They haven't even begun to slow down either. The fact that the currents will stop if the salt concentration becomes too low, does not explain the cold temperatures that we've been witnessing.

Actually the reason ice caps are melting is because of the angle of the sun's rays. They hit the Earth in the middle areas and the heat has to be pushed somewhere from both inside the Earth and from the Sun's rays. And because of the heat from the sun hitting the middle of the earth constantly piling up it has to go to the poles. It is a natural cycle of the Earth and scientists are predicting global warming on fact... Therefore Global warming is not true.

Well, some will argue that those who do not believe in AGW theories are funded by oil, but that is a pathetic cop-out. Oil provided less funding for Organizations that do not support AGW theories than Churches. However, many of the organizations that do support AGW theories are government funded, receive more money if they claim the believe the theories, and many have been known to alter information to fit their theories.

I believe that there is no global warming that humans contribute to, but more of a natural fluctuation in the Earth's temperature. If anything, I would think that increased carbon would mean an increased chance of overgrowth. If you look at records, Earth was cooling in the seventies (which shouldn't have happened if global warming is real), and also we have had an increase in vegetation. If any of this IS caused by man, then it is most definitely NOT cause by carbon.

I would suggest you do more research. Massive additions of fresh water to the ocean will cause jet streams to stop, which will cause cooling in various areas around the world. The planet is always warming and cooling. However, Global Warming is also about man's involvement, which is where the lying begins.
Jet streams would not stop because of De-salination of our oceans? Do you even know what you're talking about? A Jet-Stream is an upper atmospheric air current (Strat or trop? I can't remember)...Global Warming would 'alter' them but they would not stop.
Actually, the desalination of our ocean has already stopped the oceans currents. The oceans currents affect climates all over the Earth, and when those currents stop, climates can drastically change. I know what a jet stream is and I'm not sure why I typed that. Jet streams are in the tropopause, between the stratosphere and troposphere.

I like the speech. Many people in California take human caused global warming as a religious view. I believe it is due to the gravitational pull of Jupiter, Saturn, and the black hole in the middle of the milky way. These forces cause the periodic Ice ages and melt-downs. I prefer the data from the Antarctic ice core samples as evidence of climate change before humanity was human.

1) Global warming does not mean that all inhabited areas will get warmer. It means that there's more energy in the ecosystem leading to greater instability.
This means that some places will experience wierd weather more often. Once in 50 year snow might become once in 10 years or even annual.
The massive increase in energy stored in the ocean and experienced in dynamic events like melting glaciers is not nearly explained by the relatively minor incremental increase in solar output.

How does the polar shift constitute global warming? The two have nothing to do with each other. By definition, warming is increasing in temperature, and global means it is happening around the world. The polar shift has nothing to do with that: it is the switching of the poles in the earth's core beneath its surface, causing major earthquakes and whatnot. Warming doesn't cause that. Wow. I never said it would increase temperatures alone - however that it would change temperatures all over. Some areas would increase in average temperature and others would decrease. The polar shift screws with Earth's axis allowing some areas to be more hit by sunlight than others - thus the Earth's climates as well as the ocean temperatures WOULD adjust.

I had to take an environmental course in college, and they were strongly pushing the theory that man is causing global warming, but it became interesting when I started debating it. well the way i knew it was fake was this. if al gore says second half will cause water to rise by 16 metres, that means 1 half has already melted, so why would the first half not have the same effect. i also know polars are not going extinct. they are at their population limit and are lowering down to 6,000 and will rise to 30,000 again. i also know that eastern ice is old ice and west the new, and as more ice is created it is pushed further east until it falls off as an iceberg.

The warming oceans will only cause ice that is in the water to melt, not land ice. If the ice is already in the water, then it will not increase the water level. The Arctic and Greenland still average sub-freezing temperatures year round, which means that the land ice will not completely melt away.

Global warming is true. However, the effects proclaimed are wrong. We did increase the temperature of the planet, by a very, very small amount, almost insignificant. If we weren't there, the CO2 we breathe and produce wouldn't be there, but the planet is simply too big and too strong to be affected by such a thing. The toxins and unatural fumes did pierce a hole through the ozone layer, but CO2 has NOTHING to do with that. So it's stop polluting not stop global warming.

There are actually two holes. The holes are along the poles. They change throughout the seasons, depending on if the pole is tilted towards or away from the sun. There is minor ozone depletion across the globe, but the regeneration occurs just as quickly in most locations, so a hole does not form.

I could care less about theories on "how it all ends" to be perfectly honest. In my opinion, nobody but God knows the true day.
If you're interested, google "EXIT MUNDI: A COLLECTION OF END-OF-WORLD SCENARIOS" - it's got every single end of the world scenario imaginable presented comically :)

Well it goes to show that you know nothing about what How it All Ends has to offer. It is only a series of videos on how you can make good decisions even when you are faced with uncertainty. Just like any responsible business would do. Because we did agree on earlier that none of us could know for certain what the outcome will be in the issue of climate change. The Kicker is that we are, while we are running the experiment, in the test tube.
Let me ask you do you have insurance of any kind??

If you take a look at history just the mere idea that Hitler was developing the A-bomb justified the Manhattan Project, which cost billions of dollars that I bet could have been put to better use elsewhere. Why not devote time and money to figure out if in fact climate change is manmade or not, and if so if we can do anything about it, with the fait of the entire human race in the balance and all.

Time and money ARE being invested into that. I in the meantime am investing time into my career - which has nothing to do with global warming. I'm sure you ask, "Then why bother making a video?" - I had to present a speech in my speech class and the teacher recorded us. Took a total of 2 mins of my life to upload to youtube...

I AM qualified to give my opinion...if you don't like it you're welcome to leave. Do either of us know the facts? What is a fact? Facts are CONSTANTLY changing. Both of us are stating opinions here. THe same way scientists are stating theories that are constantly being adjusted. Just 30 years ago, global cooling was "the fact"!!

No it is a fact that there is a chance that you might be wrong - in every scientific issue a scientist always devotes his time to explain that there is chances that he might be wrong due to unknown factors or faulty equipment and the like

There are many facts that you choose to ignore. It is also a fact that the IPCC claims a 20% chance of error, which is a ridiculous amount of error for someone within the scientific community. From what I know about global warming and the properties of
CO2, the odds of you being wrong are much greater than the odds of me or Annette being wrong.

Madehero.... it seems to me that you fail to listen to what I have to say. The 3 of us are in no position to do anything else but armchair analyses in this issue, and yes there are probably a ridiculous amount of error on both sides. I find it strange that NAS, AAAS and USCAP all saying 1. we are the ones doing it 2. it is going to be bad 3. we better do something quick. And all I am arguing is that neither one of us are likely to know what the outcome will be so all I said is let the experts

The only problems that I have with that are that they are already teaching children in school the things that they aren't positive about and that they wish to use our money to fix a problem that may not be fixable. Besides that, listing organizations is pointless. There are many organizations that argue against AGW theories. If you want a list of some of them, then I would be more than happy to send you one.

Well, you could argue with simple facts. We know for a fact that both, CO2 levels and ocean temperatures are increasing, we know that our planet experiences regular cycles, we know that the sun goes through cycles, we know that CO2 and temperature have a natural lag, and we know the basic chemical and physical properties of various greenhouse gasses. People often ignore what we actually know, and they attempt to make simple comparisons.

I am just questioning our ability to come to such a bold statement that Global climate change is bunk when you really dont know if it is because it is a very complex issue

Annette What scientific issue out there can you direct my attention to that there is absolute agreement on?? From which scientific studies do you derive your conclusions? Is it possible that Al Gore is right and you are wrong? How credible are your sources have you sat down to construct a basis for the credibility for your of studies?

Sure all thigns are possible...but the fact that thousands of scientists have signed a treaty that global warming is NOT man made should be evidence enough. Argentina, London, Arkansas, Kathmandu, and Thailand just got their 1st snowfalls in YEARS -is this part of "global warming"? -I call bs -that's NOT global warming.
THERE ARE global shifts in temperature - both COOL AND WARM - and it's attributed to a polar shift. I wish I could post links but youtube wont let me so you'll have to google.

Hey MadeHero did you ever hear about the "salt pump" that is responsible for driving the north atlantic current?? As a result of warming it may shut down and infact make an ice age start in northern europe. It may be hard to wrap your head around but it is fact.

I already know that a massive desalination of our oceans will cause oceanic currents to stop. It has happened before. However, the currents have not begun to shut down yet. They haven't even begun to slow down either. The fact that the currents will stop if the salt concentration becomes too low, does not explain the cold temperatures that we've been witnessing.

Actually the reason ice caps are melting is because of the angle of the sun's rays. They hit the Earth in the middle areas and the heat has to be pushed somewhere from both inside the Earth and from the Sun's rays. And because of the heat from the sun hitting the middle of the earth constantly piling up it has to go to the poles. It is a natural cycle of the Earth and scientists are predicting global warming on fact... Therefore Global warming is not true.

I think you should be asking - is there a chance that Al Gore could be wrong? Don't believe everything that you're told! Do some research and figure things out for yourself first - you will be very surprised what you learn. While you're at it check out the Zeitgeist vid in my favorites section.
Im not a scientist - but there are PLENTY of scientists that disagree with global warming and the idea that it's man made.

Well, some will argue that those who do not believe in AGW theories are funded by oil, but that is a pathetic cop-out. Oil provided less funding for Organizations that do not support AGW theories than Churches. However, many of the organizations that do support AGW theories are government funded, receive more money if they claim the believe the theories, and many have been known to alter information to fit their theories.

the sun, oceanic currents, tectonic activity, and continental drift have more to do with the climate than humans ever could.
2/3 of the oxygen produces comes from algae in the ocean, not trees. plant life requires co2 to live. all life is carbon based.
we have adapted to past climatic changes more extreme than the one we're told we face today... and we pulled through. science is losing skepticism and thus becoming propaganda. these are the facts, and they can not be refuted.

I believe that there is no global warming that humans contribute to, but more of a natural fluctuation in the Earth's temperature. If anything, I would think that increased carbon would mean an increased chance of overgrowth. If you look at records, Earth was cooling in the seventies (which shouldn't have happened if global warming is real), and also we have had an increase in vegetation. If any of this IS caused by man, then it is most definitely NOT cause by carbon.

Also, know your facts. Global Warming isn't about the earth's temperature rising and burning us all alive and melting the Ice Caps. The concern isn't from the 'atmospheric' temperature, it's from the warming of the seas and causing a dump of freshwater from the melting of the ice caps into the ocean disrupting currents and causing major climatic catastrophe. Oh and....don't use 'In Conclusion' in any speech you twat....any respectable school would have pointed you on that immediately.

You need to realize that you would have lost your debate in any school. Global Warming is about the warming of the Earth's surface temperature, as well as ocean temperatures. I would suggest you do more research. Massive additions of fresh water to the ocean will cause jet streams to stop, which will cause cooling in various areas around the world. The planet is always warming and cooling. However, Global Warming is also about man's involvement, which is where the lying begins.

Jet streams would not stop because of De-salination of our oceans? Do you even know what you're talking about? A Jet-Stream is an upper atmospheric air current (Strat or trop? I can't remember)...Global Warming would 'alter' them but they would not stop.

Actually, the desalination of our ocean has already stopped the oceans currents. The oceans currents affect climates all over the Earth, and when those currents stop, climates can drastically change. I know what a jet stream is and I'm not sure why I typed that. Jet streams are in the tropopause, between the stratosphere and troposphere.
