  • i believe the douche up front are dancing to a different song.... thankfully for us, Warren doesn't give a flying f and rips it anyhow.

  • Hello, been Mule fan for years...put them down for a while...thanks for the video...it rocks man....needed this bro. Love his voice...great guitar.

    W

  • Brilliant Warren!!!!!

  • Colorado is like that....just the way it is...accckkk!

  • my favorite guitar player...warren Haynes

  • Man that's some good shit

  • Drunk yuppies/jocks/frat boys should be gassed while they're couped in a place like that. AFTER the band has been safely escorted out, of course : )

  • that place seems like it doesnt have respect for the artist playing,..their just yelling and hes lettin his soul out,..thats a shame man

  • it was ok at best. drunk crowd. mediocre playing. 2 out of 5 stars.

  • @shanegalang2

Mediocre playing ??? Are u for real. Little club in some bum fuck town and Waren still can give

Billy gibbons from ZZ top lessons on how this song should b played. No soundboard to cover up

mistakes only a couple amps n thats it . Just raw MULE AT THEIR BEST you obviously don't know shit bout

    music

  • @ABBFANFUKN4LIFE Whats to know about 3 chords and a pentatonic scale? Simple as can be.

  • @shanegalang2 Post of a video of you playing this...I'm sure it's awesome!

  • @shanegalang2 Hey technical boy when was the last time u played the beacon. Bet ur still living in ur parents basement n playin in their garage.... DOUCHEBBAG

  • @ABBFANFUKN4LIFE

Yea I wish I could be that mediocre. Haynes is bringin it.

  • WTFis wrong with the ..."audience"?????? don't they ever shut up????

  • great song, great playing

    a true master

  • ...mmmm wonder!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Realityversesego,You are a complete fuckin idiot as are the people in the front row!!!! You and many others who have acted like village idiots are the reason you will wind up in the bars dumpster, the fact you acknowledge that behavior of those homos is proof your a polesmoker as well....

  • is this high school kids drink free night???

  • In the 11 years since this video, Warren has done 2 tours with The Dead, 2 with Phil and Friends, 8or 9 with the Allman Bros, 40+ with Gov't Mule, a few solo, and has jammed with 5000 bands... Think about how good he is today..... Thanks Warren for all the moments and music..... Almost time for The Xmas Jam...

  • In the 11 years since this video, Warren has done 2 tours with Phil and Friends, 2 with The Dead, 8 with the Allman Brothers, 40+ with the Mule, guested with 5000 bands.... Think about how good he is today..... Bring on The Xmas Jam.... Thanks Warren for all the awesome Music....

  • If that was my sons in the front being so disrepectful to such awesome talent, I would beat the crap out of them..thank goodness mine know good music when they hear it..long live the Mule

  • somebody said BE QUIET ahahahahah

  • I bet that man has played more rowdy gigs like that than a lot of bluesmen these days. The music itself is loud, rowdy, down and gritty. Grab a beer or six and be thankful that YouTube can bring performances like this to your 56" Mac. Long live the mule!

  • makes me want a soldano

  • This punk crowd sucks the straw up my.....

  • I provided sound for theese guys at club 13 in Sheffield Al but they did not do this song, I wish they would have it's one of my favorites by ZZ Top

  • Colorado, a beautiful state. Packed with loud, alcoholic ( students ).

  • warren haynes rules, however with unlimited budget he still cant nail the Rev.s tone

  • WOW EPIC

    WARREN IS MY NEW HOUSEGOD

  • This band is straight-up "RAW" love this style, a whole lot of "TALENT".

  • Hell yea, warren and mule put on a baddass live show. I saw them in charleston, sc and that was the only show ive ever actually been too and been head banging, cuz im usually more reserverd but YES they sure can put on a show full of FEELING.

  • If you've ever seen Warren/Mule live, (even without alcohol in ya), YOU FEEL THE MUSIC! They are used to audiences doing this and I think that's why they play--they love music and people who love music!

  • Gov't Mule = ballsy blues-rock. ZZ Top = legendary blues-rock. Gov't Mule covering ZZ Top = YOUR HEAD A SPLODE!

  • It`s an excellent cover. It`s a shame to be playing in front of too nut people.

This guitar man is very good!

  • I hope all the people of Colorado are not as stupid ! It's a shame, screaming like that and meanwhile on stage, a star is playing. Silly people

  • True, to be fair though, I must point out that this was the first song they played after a rowdy, extended break.

  • @PostToastie

I try to listen what you mean but, understand me, I love so much the music of Gov't Mule (and ZZ Top too, of course). This song is so pretty, so high. I'm a musician and I cant' explain how this attitude makes me too sad. Trust me, the worst feeling of a musician is playing front of an audience who don't care about the show.

  • @PostToastie - Just being FOOLS!!

  • @dimitrifabien fuck you dickhead. its a night club not a god damn funeral. faggot

  • luv

  • he´s the best !!

  • seit ich die mules am 18 oktober 2009 in wien gehört habe ist mir klar: warren haynes ist der ultimative guitarrero der welt, so beseelt und genial wie er spielt nur gottes eigene bluesband

  • I was just directed here from Facebook and this is a Killer Version!! I had never heard of this band before, but I will definitely be checking out more of their material now.

  • These butt pirates up front are getting schooled and there to f-ing stupid to even notice. Looks like they are on E, I am sure they had a fudge packed evening. Warren should have slipped and kicked one of them in the face!

  • That douche bag at 0:34 isn't even listening. Half those fags don't even have a reason to be there.

  • douche alert at .34

  • Fuking love that guy! Warren is God.

  • The song was great....

    The audience is mostly d!ckheads...

  • Great song!! Too bad there is a bunch of fucking fags in the audience. No rhythm mother fuckers. The only rhythm the audience has, is bobbing on knobs. Fucking pussies!

  • I'm not a Mule fan, but I'm familiar with Warren's work with the Allman Bros. This guy is not only a fine guitar slinger, but has a great bluesy voice as well. Just as strong on vocals as he is on guitar...

  • Bloozedaddy76

Well said for a non mule fan. Most of Warrens vocals get lost in his awesome

guitar work. Look how good he sounds

and this is some little bar. No high end sound board just REAL RAW music the way it was meant to be.

  • what the fu@# is wrong with this crowd i would never put up with this bullshit if i was playing i dont care how much money i was getting. Sit down shut the fuck up and show some respect

  • warren haynes just trying to let some of these kids know where it started, and where it will ultimately end, old boy! a great reading of a great song!

  • HAYNES OWNS!!!!

  • sorry people , but this is not a good version of zz tops song . never mind worse things happen at sea .

  • Clean out your ears. What would you know about a good version anyway?

  • @holstenfull you're right. It's not a good version, it's a great version!

  • It's a phenomenon these days. Young pricks who don't know the meaning of 'live music' behave the same way... screaming, yelling and worst of all dancing all over the place like the missing link. They're confused between a disco and a live band!

  • yeah and the guy who said it's a bad cover of top's version is a three-toed-sloth who can't even understand that this is just WORDS over a READING of one of the fundamental blues progressions. that Mule song you just heard is no more a cover than zz's original was a "cover" of whatever blues song inspired mr. gibbons and company to write that. and you are so right about this generation: the etiquette of the blues show is lost on these hip-hop-weened-ecstasy-fueled-pacifier-chewing-pukey kids!

  • shut the f up can you hear EC is god WH is like JC just feel

  • dammedolrocker

Yeah Seen ec dozen times, Most recently cream reunion & the derek & dominoes tour both @ msg, Know what derek trucks put clapton to shame. go back a long time saw original Skynyrd, MTB &, more, EC isn't even close to warren hes lost his passion, warren does the ABB Mule n now the dead. HaRdest working muscian out there bare none, TIME TO GIVE CREDIT N PASS THE TORCH, ps Warren also has an unbelievable voice

  • have you people ever been to a bar? stop the insults people can live in this country and listen to good music and be free! besides it's their video the comments should be for the band don't you think it kinda brings everyone down to complain constantly

  • If anyone knows those two fuckheads in the front, kick their ass, I mean just bitch slap them they'll start crying right away

  • It's unfortunate these guys were playing in a club the noise of the crowd diminishes this a bit, this is a rally good band

  • Didn't watch much of this. Warren was great as always but seemed a little upset. Wonder why? He's the man. Give a little respect. John Denver had been there, tell me true.

  • "look at those pricks up front. i hate people like that."

Drunken pricks. Total disregard and DISRESPECT for the artist on stage.

TAKE IT TO THE BACK OF THE CLUB, YOU F-ING MORONS!

    Electrixladyland69

  • AMEN If was in NYC they would have gotten a fukn ass whoopin. Fukn dounut punchin faggots,

  • theyre treading on holy ground

  • takes a prick to know one

  • Those ass pirates in the front don't deserve to be in the presence of such a great musical genius.

  • What small club in Colorado was this ? Does anyone know ?

It looks like Hermans on Broadway

  • @ScottmatCOS

this is in Steamboat Springs at the Inferno Restaurant & Bar

  • WOW absolutley Amazing great job!!!!!!!!!

  • Mule does covers 99.5% of the time better than the original tunes.

This is an outstanding clip, Thank you!

  • When I see them I go into "the MULE zone" can't move, talk or anything it's all like a Haynes Haze I am surround by......speechless.

  • I want to be the Warren of my generation! Hopefully my band will achieve "Mule Status" someday!

  • look at those pricks up front. i hate people like that. i go to a show to pay attention to the artist not socialize and act like an ass. Long live Old School Mule.

  • those douche bags up front look like the are more interested in blowing each other after the show

  • Agreed. Warren did ZZ very good! Warren and Gov't Mule is awesome!

  • Warren didnt do ZZ very good he fukn shredded this song. Billy Gibbons should watch this and learn. Warren is the master.

  • Just listened to these guys for the first time and *WOW* there amazing, and i ever catch up with those cock smokers on the front row I'll rip there hearts out of there chests.....They were truley disrespectful

  • ZZ Top should be proud!

  • He is smokin it. Great tone here..

  • I've had the privilege to see Warren 7 times. He is the best out there and they are the hardest working band in show business for sure. I'm a fratboy, but for the love of all that is music I would never disrespect Gov't Mule like that, it truly is a shame and I hope that guy reads this one day and realizes he's a failure in life to be three feet away from The Warren Haynes and doesn't bow to his knees and thank whatever god he believes in that he's seen perfection before him.

  • Warren shreddzz

  • I'd like to beat the shit out of those frat boys up front. Shut up and watch the show!

  • Fuck'in amazing....probably the best blues song ever. Warren does billy justice

  • i dont see how his stubby little fingers move so fast and accurately :/

  • now i am a huge srv fan. he is the greatest guitarest in my mind. but gibbons is a close second. and these guys know what its all about. when you can make a piece of wood and some strings sound like they are screaming in pain then damn. that is a guitarist. great job guys.

  • Gotta luv SRV.I had the privilege of seeing him live 4 times. The best was at carnegie hall when he did the live album. Warren is the best guitarist and hardest working musician out there today bar none. Between the Mule & ABB the dude never rests. And I have seen 'God' himself a few times(Clapton)If you ever get a chance go see the mule at their annual new years eve show in NYC starts at 8pm and ends about 2am(no shit).Anything Warren covers is almost always better than the original period

  • i want warrens signature gibson LP...he has a coil splitter on the rhythm pickup to give him a sorta Billy Gibbons/SRV tone....its amazing.

  • That's the most disrespectful bunch of kids I've ever seen! And why were they there to see the Mule anyway? These fucknuts grew up with rap and britney spears music... :-( Ace ZZ-Top cover though!! thanx for posting it!

  • I love at 4:30 when he just tears into it. He should have cranked his Soldano up to 11 and made them cocksuckers in the front ears bleed. No respect.

Warren is the best guitarist of the genre to hit the mainstream in the last 20 years.

  • the mule workin' it like a rib!

  • i don't think anyone 'ruined' the playing...the performance is great. the dorks in the front are certainly DORKS, but i was expecting them to act worse based on comments i read. thanks for posting...this is smokin'.

  • Dumb ass kids. Probably are expecting to hear rap or techno when they went to this club. So instead of leaving they mock a great musician. Wish someone would have escorted them out and kicked their arses and showed them the "blues" ha ha

  • Perhaps it was the joint Mule was playing (a slacker bar of sorts) or the hour ... like 5 minutes before midnight when beer had been flowing down the joint like the mighty Mississippi.

It's either that or those kids up front are bleepingly clueless and Haynes the musical magician was throwing his pearls before a bunch of drunken swines.

    I am Gangster Corleone.

  • Great guitar work, and yeah those KIDS are really gettin' on my nerves...

  • great!!!!

  • Yeah thats rite there still rocking today, Long live The Mule...

  • absolutely awesome rendition.... i love it. theres a band on youtube that does it worse than i ever thought of. this is the opposite. i never knew govt mule was so good at this .....

  • ZZ tops song but as usual Warren kicks the originals ass like always. He is God !!!!

  • r u kidding me? This is amazing!!

  • Oh! Freaking WAAAAHHHHHH!!!!

I didn't even hear the crowd noise until I played it again after reading the comments.

Warren shines on this, the greatest Z Z Top song ever.

  • Warren wastes Billy gibbons. Gotta say he kicks zz tops ass at their own song.

  • AMEN

  • one of the best zztop's ballads

  • In spite of the three fags in the front row and all the Jerkoffs around him, Warren still shines. This is not the first time Ive seen the Mule being disrespected by ignorant asses like these. I would have still paid money to see them.

  • Wouldn't have happened in NYC. They would have been kindly bumped outta the front (if you know what I mean). Still like you said didn't faze Warren at all. Goin to see em at the Beacon in NYC New Years Eve 3 set nite 5hrs of mule.

  • These assholes in the front are disrespectful to Billy and Warren.

Listen to the fuckin' magic happening on stage!

  • The crowd noise kinda sucks, but, Warren sure the hell doesn't!!! Warren Haynes fucking shredds!!!

    R.I.P.~Woody

  • I agree it is horrible to diss the band whether yo are drunk or not, but that is what Steamboat is. A drunk town and nothing but skiing is taken seriously. I know I lived there for 3 years. Warren truly should have Spinal Tapped them at "11". I'm surprised Woody didn't drop some bass bombs and bowl them over hisself. A greaet band then and an even better stage presence now. Peace. Jackstraw.

  • Ahh.... the good ole days, before the hippies got their hands on Mule, Woody was still alive, and this band went straight for the throat every night.

They're still a phenomenal live act, but the power trio version was hands down the greatest live band of that era.

    Woody is sorely missed.

  • I agree 100%. I followed the Mule from the early days. They were a balls to the wall, rip your head off, power trio. Since Woody's passing they lost thier balls. The Mule has been neutered.

  • Warren, you are truly inspiring to every guitarist out there. Thanks for all the great music

  • if i was warren id dime my amps and blow these assholes ears out, even when ur dunk its no excuse to ruin this kind of guitar playing.

  • I agree, they ruined a great song, a great guitar player, and I'm sure that it makes him feel a little down that the people there aren't listening to his music hardly at all, and are just screaming and shouting because they're smashed off their asses. Such a great guitarist deserves so much more respect than these dicks give him. I think that's said for everyone here =p

  • I never understood why people go to hear a live show and then talk throughout

the show and act like douche bags. Why waste the money on the tix if

you're going to talk anyhow? Do the people who care about the music

    a favor.......stay at home.

  • thanks man, now my seat is all wet

  • pfff.... so gooooood... the mule is the BeST band ever! now no doubt about this!

  • What a bunch of complete b*stards! These people wouldn't know music if it grabbed them by the nuts, wich I think this certainly is doing! The Mule should come to DeBarra's in West Cork, ireland. Everyone would be Gobsmacked.

  • the good 'ol days.

i have this show on DAT, but my deck is busted... this is a nice temporary substitute

  • why do so few people know this band is so damn good. The mainstream rockers don't even know jackshit about Mule.Gotta loveum they are so damn good

  • Hey mulelover... i was also at that show! it was awsome. I miss Allen

  • Love Warren Haynes and love the cover of a ZZ Top classic, but man these people are so disrespectful, but alcohol does that to stupid people!

  • can these idiots not shut the hell up and listen to warren playing? how annoying. Great video!

  • I saw the Mule do this song at the Comfort Zone in Toronto back in 2000. Three weeks before we lost Woody :( MISS him so.

  • ilove warrens music . he is terrific.the real deal.these people are drunk assholes.the are everyplace. how many times have you been to a show where the talent was great and drunk jerks dont even know the difference. great playing warren.

  • Those people are stupid and don't know what they're missing. Warren Haynes is so awesome

  • Great cover of one of ZZ tops finest tunes!

  • I have been hoping Warren would play this, as alot of his licks remind me of early ZZ Top. This IS my favorite ZZ song of all time!! The Mule will be in town soon, I hope they play this when they Do play at ZEWtopia in Mobile on 4/20.

  • This is a great ZZ Top cover. I also like the Grand Funk Railroad cover of Sin's A Good Man's Brother. Great band!

  • Yeah I've never seen a crowd keep on talking during a blues...

kinda bothering because of the constant talking in the background, but the performance was sharp

  • i wish they shut the fuck up for a moment ... Warren plays and they keep fu.. talkin' .. ;/

  • hahahahaha, but true. where's the respect?!!!

  • woody is the man

  • great vid! Warren is the man!
