this obviously isn't as important as amputees or wounded soldiers, but what if someday, in the future, this literally became the answer to all of our problems? ugly? grow a new face. smoker? grow new lungs/heart/everything else. want to get ripped quick? you get where i'm going with this. for now though, this is an amazing achievement, some could even say a miracle.
Regeneration is the future, and even the early present already. I would really like to see a documentary where someone will re-grow a full limb, even if it's in early stage. It's big technology regeneration of body-parts, organsand much more. :)
this is great because it contains paracrine factors that help cue regeneration, but what they don't tell you is that fingertips will naturally regenerate anyways - this just speeds the process.
I have the same cut exactly a finger tip. Can I try this medicine???? I live in Iowa State .. My name is Izze , My e.mail Address (izzeldin@yahoo.com) if you agreed I'll be with you guys ASAP.. Thanks.
This physician is either a fool or is dishonest. All these organs are epithelial tissues grown by seeding feeder cells onto a commercial biosynthetic matrix. Growing a heart requires spatial and temporal activation of signaling pathways with appropriate growth factors in order to build proper synchronized beating heart tissue. This techniques was developed by biologist over a decade ago for fibroblastic tissue such as cartilage and other connective tissue.
awesome.... the ability to regenerate that we already have but pushed to the maximum...enhanced cellular memory, think abou those mutilated people, they will have social lives again, think about those people who had their faces ripped off..... all growing back with this memory, with no plastic surgery.... only regeneration... like it used to be....
@FMLLULZ Biologists have been growing organs in the lab for decades. These physicians give the impression the technology is new. The medical profession is corrupt and has been stealing from the basic sciences for decades. For example, biologists have known since the 1950s that amphibians can lose a limb and regenerate the entire limb. Biologists also know some fish can regenerate a damaged heart. Over the past few decades, biologists have discovered the molecules which regulate regeneration.
@chroniclerofthe70s Moron... how are they corrupt and stealing? It's not like they are taking anything from the biologists...they are simply using knowledge gained elsewhere. Physicists aren't stealing from mathematicians when they use calculus.
@AvatarSequelFTW Calculus is a mathematical tool, Physicists must still perform basic research with instrumentation, fool. Secondly, medicine today is more applied Molecular Biology and Biophysics. The field of medicine is being superceded by applied molecular biology and biophysics. I dare you to give a university where medicine stands alone as a degree without Biology. The AMA has a long history of lobbying state and federal legislation in order to maintain a monopoly on healthcare.
@AvatarSequelFTW I think the HMO now have control of the medical community. There is a saying in the medical community that says there are two kinds of doctors, those that work for HMO's and those that will work for HMO's. Primary care physician practices are being bought by HMO's. I have friends and acquaintances who are physicians. They claim they are pressured by HMO's management to cut costs and increase profits. The yearly rate of medical errors seems to support these premises.
@AvatarSequelFTW I have personally interacted with specialists in healthcare. Whether intentional or not, I have witnessed physicians and hospitals staff conducting questionable practices. In the cases involving malignant cancer, I've witnessed physicians not being completely honest with patients with respect to a specific treatment regimen. The business of medicine clearly has problems, exactly how widespread within the industry remains to be elucidated.
@Kotakai Not likely, it is the shortening of chromosomal ends called telomeres with each cell division that has an impact on the number of times cells can divide and aging as well as accumulation of DNA mutations. So far, the only natural cells that are immortal are cancer cells which are able to maintain their telomeric length. Biologists have almost doubled the life span of fruit flies (Drosophila ) and nematode worms ( C. elegans ) by lengthening their telomeres.

We live a joke!!I am an Above the Knee amputee and drive me crazy the fact that there is the technology to solve all problems and we will probably not be able to have the blessing of facing it on us!Why not my leg grow up again?
@HigherGlobal That would most likely be more difficult to achieve, but i don't see why we don't produce bone "placeholders", that are essentially identical in structure to a bone, albeit with the lack of blood marrow. That should be already achievable, though i can't say for sure.
Cytori Threapeutics (CYTX) is doing this now with stem cells taken from a patient's own fat tissue. You get liposuction, the stem cells are separated and injected into area of need, e.g. heart, breast, kidney, etc. and because they are your own cells there is no worry about rejection. Amazing things are on the horizon.
its would only over populate because our oveerseers do not wish us to thrive they know if we were alowed to go into space then the population issue would be solved
Studies has shown the more technological & economically advance a nation is the lower the population is. People are simply less relecutant to have kids or at most have them later in life and fewer of them (espicially among middle income earners). Infact the studies have shown that there is a danger of under population or population depletion. Weird huh?
It's just ugly, and it resonates with people who are ugly on the inside; whether a shallow, pudgy white boy with pictures of wrestling heroes on his bedroom wall long after his 13th birthday, or a sociopath on the prison yard.
The thing that worries me is the question of who will get the organs. Imagine what corporations could charge for that. You'll end up with three groups of patients: those who can order new organs to be made, those who can't afford it and die waiting years for an organ donation, and those who can't afford either and will never get a transplant at all. The gap between the haves and have nots widens ever further...
Go live in a poor neighborhood. Go rent an apartment in or near a ghetto that is low rent that takes section 8. To get the full effect, move in with a gf or wife. By the end of the year or two, you're ability to feel sorry for "poor people" will be 100% gone from your body.
Actually I'm low income myself. I've lived in low income communities, run a homeless shelter, and helped college students facing homelessness find resources. I don't feel sorry for the poor, I feel angry for them. Poverty is a result of the kind of economic and political system we live in - that we've pretty much always lived in. I don't understand why you think I would stop sympathizing with the poor after living with them, unless you yourself don't understand the causes of poverty.
We didn't enjoy the noise, violence and ugliness when we lived in a low rent apt. complex. I did learn something. Kids who grow up in that place cannot possibly develop and have a sense of magic in the world. When you're surrounded by people who are ugly on the inside, it drags you down in a way people who haven't lived there can't/won't understand. No wonder that kids who come from those places can only create prison yard art and culture. It's not the poverty, it's the bad ppl. who live there.
I agree with you up until your last sentence. Poverty does drag people down and can make you ugly on the inside, if by "ugly" you mean bitter, angry, manipulative, self-medicating (using drugs to escape reality), and you believe you should only look out for yourself. But I don't think these people are "bad" - I've started to slip down that slope myself a couple times, and it's not evil, it's a survival paradigm. They wouldn't be "bad" if they weren't trying to survive in such bad conditions.
You've described people who need help... not people who are capable of violence, and who can actively seek to hurt other people. Poverty didn't make me ugly on the inside. No one can make you ugly on the inside without hitting your head in just the right spot to cause just the right kind of brain damage to induce sociopathy.
Were you *born* poor? How long were you poor for? How hungry were you? Did you sleep on the streets? Did you see anyone murdered for food? Did you ever consider stealing or selling yourself or drugs or something else just to make the hunger pains go away? Did you feel that you had to take up a gun to defend your family because everyone else was out for what little you had and you couldn't count on the police? *That's not sociopathy.* That's survival psychology.
You're confusing the guy who steals bread to feed a starving family with a thug; the guy who was violent in self defense with the guy who is just violent.
I would say that you're making the same mistake. From the outside, it's very difficult to tell which is which. And where do you draw the line between necessity and bad behavior? Is the guy who sells drugs to feed his family acting out of necessity and is excused? Or is it so ethically wrong to sell drugs that it would be better for his family to go hungry? What about the man who mugs someone for money? Or joins a gang for protection?
(Cont.) That sense of "magic" you speak of is a relatively recent concept. A century or two ago, people held to extreme realism because they had to. To expect to enjoy the world in that way is a luxury born of the better living conditions of the last century or so.
Besides, how could you argue that it's not the poverty, it's the "bad" ppl, when by your own description the "bad ppl" are mostly in the low income communities? The high correlation points to poverty influencing behavor.
Most of the people you meet in max. sec. prison are violent. The high correlation does not point to prison causing people to be violent. That's as dumb as dumb can be. I'm going to give you a mulligan on that one, because, wow...
Poverty doesn't transform kids into low IQ thugs that rape a girl outside her school while her school mates look on. There is never an excuse for being violent and taking joy in hurting others. Saying, "it's cause they're poor" is so stupid it's evil.
Your logic is atrocious. People are put *into* max sec. prison *because* they're violent, so of course prison doesn't *cause* them to become violent. But people are not put into poverty because they're bad or violent. The kids you're talking about were *born* there and have never known anything else. Unless you've grown up hungry and dirt in the eyes of society, I don't know if you can fathom the kind of culture that creates. Kid in ghettos do not live in America. They live in war zones.
Bad people tend to mismanage their lives. They don't tend to live in high rent areas. They end up in low rent areas, ruining the block for everyone else. Their bosses live in the suburbs. The media moguls who sell their trash culture back to them, do.
Congradulations. You are the embodiment of American Puritan values. "Poor must = bad, because God protects the good. Good people don't get sick and then fall into poverty. Good people don't get laid off, then fall into poverty. God just doesn't work that way. Only bad people are poor." You have been well trained.
My best suggestion is to listen to some underground rap, like "The Poverty of Philosophy" by Immortal Technique. Or go read some of their lyrics on azlyrics. com. Or Sweatshop Union on lyricsmania. com. They're good examples of groups that talk about the negative culture in their communities, and talk about fighting it's influence over them. They are angry about it while still understanding the socio-economic causes of it and try to connect the dots for people.
Rape music sounds like a domestic dispute. It's an angry thug yelling at me. It's ugly. It's popular with people who are ugly on the inside (who are, btw, mostly white boys who never had to live the pain of the ghetto, having no parents, etc. but who also happen to have low IQs). No one with an aesthetic sense is composing that stuff except to separate the fans of that stuff from their money. Reading something noble into any of it is, well, sad.
You have a VERY shallow view of rap music. You're talking about the gangsta rap, and regarding that genre I would agree with you. But underground rap is TOTALLY different. Of course, if you never go read the lyrics, then you can just continue comfortably thinking you've got it all figured out. Isn't that so much easier?
You can't say you're right till you've gone and read the lyrics and *demonstrated* that your point is still valid.
You know how in movies a particular scene calls for particular music; a sad scene has sad music, a whimsical scene has whimsical music... . Well, rape music sounds like background music for Rudy (seeCosby Kids) struttin' down the street looking tough, or guys hanging out in the prison yard. Or sometimes it seems like the background music for someone sneaking around about to break into something. Shallow people don't pick up on it. They just think it makes other people think they're neat/tough.
LOL. You know all about rap music, and all without listening to it! So impressive! God has nothing on you.
When I challenge you to consider the lyrics as text, you respond that you don't like the sound. But text has no sound. Do you realize that you're not debating at all at this point? You're just making excuses to avoid considering the evidence. Really, how hard is it to go look at a few pages of lyrics? Seperated from the music, they're like poetry.
Looks like something written by a shop class major sophomore in high school who isn't world wise or smart or mature enough to know quite who to blame for his troubles, but is pretty sure it's something to do with the rich and the gummint. And, um, wow, do I get to say, "nigga!" too?
If you think this is W.B. Yeats, I can't help you. I have to stop giving you the time of day, now. I have chem home work.
You know as well as I do that wouldn't be good for business. Haliburton and Blackwater aren't rich enough, and aren't you even conscerned about big oil? How can you be so insensitive?
@healthhavencom Define, immoral. Are you stating that what we deem as immoral is the same thing that is immoral by another culture? Morals are what we are taught, see and learn as we age, and depending on where you are, your morals will be different from someone elses. So what you define as,"immoral." could be in the eyes of another, quite moral. On another note, People will always fight one another, because in order to have peace, you must have chaos. If you have one the other will surface
@XovenForester Morals are developed to as a survival tool and corrupted by ignorance. Dont be a slut/std avoidance, dont hurt kill steal/ obvious outcome is cause and effect, for all the donts theres a reason even the ones based off ignorance. chaos is not a balance of order its ignorance. You help others you help your self. Make them stronger and you have to become stronger to be a par so you grow. Otherwise if you never have a reason to improve you become less than you could be.
Here's a better idea: How about you pull your head out of your ass? And realize that "al-Qaeda" is nothing more than a carefully constructed boogeyman designed to fool idiots like yourself into supporting immoral wars so that rich mother fuckers can get even richer while young men and women lose their lives for no justifiable reason.
In case you forgot, here again is the idea: Reach down with both hands and pull your empty head out of your big dumb ass.
@healthhavencom really your going with a conspiracy theory and your calling me and idiot.... i guess the numerous bombs in multiple country are as you said "boogeyman" plot.. you need to stop looking at the government as a god like entity with complete control over the world.... you ever think that this world isnt regulated but just a series of events randomized by the separate actions of individuals
@healthhavencom Outside of re-growing flesh from amputated or damaged organs... this can help me to have my sight back! I'm affected by keratoconus, a degenerative disease of the cornea wich the only cure is a double trasplant of cornea...
If they can build every part of the body, they can build also cornea!
@enomis9393 You have a degenerative disease of the cornea? That's interesting considering the cornea is made of cells which gradually are filled a with crystalline protein matrix. Most of your body already replaces itself every few years with the exception of some types of neural cells. Stem cells throughout are bodies are responsible for most of this regeneration. Unfortunately, some tissue have limited regenerative capabilities and regenerative tissues slowly lose stem cells.
@chroniclerofthe70s it's my cornea's matrix that is wrong and everytime grows more deformed i accused first simptoms 4 years ago and now i'm 18. I still didn't took in consideration the transplant but i know that at my age is not very nice, i know that cornea can be transplanted easily, is one of the most resistant parts of body after death and finding a donator should be easily than other organs but if the medicine can make a cornea from my stam cells that would be 100% safe i think.
@enomis9393 Corneal tissue is readily accessible to drugs. There may be new drugs to treat corneal diseases currently undergoing clinical phase IV trials. Good luck to you.

Thus far, they have been speaking about soft tissues. Has there been anything done regarding bones that are medically deemed as being degenerative?
HigherGlobal 2 years ago
@HigherGlobal That would most likely be more difficult to achieve, but i don't see why we don't produce bone "placeholders", that are essentially identical in structure to a bone, albeit with the lack of blood marrow. That should be already achievable, though i can't say for sure.

Cytori Threapeutics (CYTX) is doing this now with stem cells taken from a patient's own fat tissue. You get liposuction, the stem cells are separated and injected into area of need, e.g. heart, breast, kidney, etc. and because they are your own cells there is no worry about rejection. Amazing things are on the horizon.

(respectfully)
Studies has shown the more technological & economically advance a nation is the lower the population is. People are simply less relecutant to have kids or at most have them later in life and fewer of them (espicially among middle income earners). Infact the studies have shown that there is a danger of under population or population depletion. Weird huh?
Cheers!

interstitialofficial 2 years ago

By the end of the year or two, you're ability to feel sorry for "poor people" will be 100% gone from your body.
interstitialofficial 2 years ago
Actually I'm low income myself. I've lived in low income communities, run a homeless shelter, and helped college students facing homelessness find resources. I don't feel sorry for the poor, I feel angry for them. Poverty is a result of the kind of economic and political system we live in - that we've pretty much always lived in. I don't understand why you think I would stop sympathizing with the poor after living with them, unless you yourself don't understand the causes of poverty.
Sarandib22 2 years ago
We didn't enjoy the noise, violence and ugliness when we lived in a low rent apt. complex. I did learn something. Kids who grow up in that place cannot possibly develop and have a sense of magic in the world. When you're surrounded by people who are ugly on the inside, it drags you down in a way people who haven't lived there can't/won't understand. No wonder that kids who come from those places can only create prison yard art and culture. It's not the poverty, it's the bad ppl. who live there.
interstitialofficial 2 years ago
I agree with you up until your last sentence. Poverty does drag people down and can make you ugly on the inside, if by "ugly" you mean bitter, angry, manipulative, self-medicating (using drugs to escape reality), and you believe you should only look out for yourself. But I don't think these people are "bad" - I've started to slip down that slope myself a couple times, and it's not evil, it's a survival paradigm. They wouldn't be "bad" if they weren't trying to survive in such bad conditions.
Sarandib22 2 years ago
You've described people who need help... not people who are capable of violence, and who can actively seek to hurt other people. Poverty didn't make me ugly on the inside. No one can make you ugly on the inside without hitting your head in just the right spot to cause just the right kind of brain damage to induce sociopathy.
interstitialofficial 2 years ago
Were you *born* poor? How long were you poor for? How hungry were you? Did you sleep on the streets? Did you see anyone murdered for food? Did you ever consider stealing or selling yourself or drugs or something else just to make the hunger pains go away? Did you feel that you had to take up a gun to defend your family because everyone else was out for what little you had and you couldn't count on the police? *That's not sociopathy.* That's survival psychology.
Sarandib22 2 years ago
You're confusing the guy who steals bread to feed a starving family with a thug; the guy who was violent in self defense with the guy who is just violent.
There's no excuse for bad behavior. Ever.
interstitialofficial 2 years ago
I would say that you're making the same mistake. From the outside, it's very difficult to tell which is which. And where do you draw the line between necessity and bad behavior? Is the guy who sells drugs to feed his family acting out of necessity and is excused? Or is it so ethically wrong to sell drugs that it would be better for his family to go hungry? What about the man who mugs someone for money? Or joins a gang for protection?
Sarandib22 2 years ago
How am I making the same mistake of mistaking self defense for violence?
interstitialofficial 2 years ago
(Cont.) That sense of "magic" you speak of is a relatively recent concept. A century or two ago, people held to extreme realism because they had to. To expect to enjoy the world in that way is a luxury born of the better living conditions of the last century or so.
Besides, how could you argue that it's not the poverty, it's the "bad" ppl, when by your own description the "bad ppl" are mostly in the low income communities? The high correlation points to poverty influencing behavor.
Sarandib22 2 years ago
Most of the people you meet in max. sec. prison are violent. The high correlation does not point to prison causing people to be violent. That's as dumb as dumb can be. I'm going to give you a mulligan on that one, because, wow...
Poverty doesn't transform kids into low IQ thugs that rape a girl outside her school while her school mates look on. There is never an excuse for being violent and taking joy in hurting others. Saying, "it's cause they're poor" is so stupid it's evil.
interstitialofficial 2 years ago
Your logic is atrocious. People are put *into* max sec. prison *because* they're violent, so of course prison doesn't *cause* them to become violent. But people are not put into poverty because they're bad or violent. The kids you're talking about were *born* there and have never known anything else. Unless you've grown up hungry and dirt in the eyes of society, I don't know if you can fathom the kind of culture that creates. Kid in ghettos do not live in America. They live in war zones.
Sarandib22 2 years ago
Bad people tend to mismanage their lives. They don't tend to live in high rent areas. They end up in low rent areas, ruining the block for everyone else. Their bosses live in the suburbs. The media moguls who sell their trash culture back to them, do.
interstitialofficial 2 years ago
Congradulations. You are the embodiment of American Puritan values. "Poor must = bad, because God protects the good. Good people don't get sick and then fall into poverty. Good people don't get laid off, then fall into poverty. God just doesn't work that way. Only bad people are poor." You have been well trained.
Sarandib22 2 years ago
Where did I say "poor = bad"? Google the strawman fallacy.
interstitialofficial 2 years ago
My best suggestion is to listen to some underground rap, like "The Poverty of Philosophy" by Immortal Technique. Or go read some of their lyrics on azlyrics. com. Or Sweatshop Union on lyricsmania. com. They're good examples of groups that talk about the negative culture in their communities, and talk about fighting it's influence over them. They are angry about it while still understanding the socio-economic causes of it and try to connect the dots for people.
Sarandib22 2 years ago
Rape music sounds like a domestic dispute. It's an angry thug yelling at me. It's ugly. It's popular with people who are ugly on the inside (who are, btw, mostly white boys who never had to live the pain of the ghetto, having no parents, etc. but who also happen to have low IQs). No one with an aesthetic sense is composing that stuff except to separate the fans of that stuff from their money. Reading something noble into any of it is, well, sad.
interstitialofficial 2 years ago
You have a VERY shallow view of rap music. You're talking about the gangsta rap, and regarding that genre I would agree with you. But underground rap is TOTALLY different. Of course, if you never go read the lyrics, then you can just continue comfortably thinking you've got it all figured out. Isn't that so much easier?
You can't say you're right till you've gone and read the lyrics and *demonstrated* that your point is still valid.
Sarandib22 2 years ago
You know how in movies a particular scene calls for particular music; a sad scene has sad music, a whimsical scene has whimsical music... . Well, rape music sounds like background music for Rudy (seeCosby Kids) struttin' down the street looking tough, or guys hanging out in the prison yard. Or sometimes it seems like the background music for someone sneaking around about to break into something. Shallow people don't pick up on it. They just think it makes other people think they're neat/tough.
interstitialofficial 2 years ago

Let me save you the trouble:
Immortal Technique:
"How could this be, the land of the free, home of the brave?
Indigenous holocaust, and the home of the slaves
Corporate America, dancin' offbeat to the rhythm
You really think this country, never sponsored terrorism?
Human rights violations, we continue the saga
El Savador and the contras in Nicaragua
And on top of that, you still wanna take me to prison
Just cause I won't trade humanity for patriotism"
Sarandib22 2 years ago
Immortal Technique:
"Trapped in a ghetto region like a Palestinian kid
Where nobody gives a fuck whether you die or you live"
"Flow like the blood of Abraham through the Jews and the Arabs
Broken apart like a woman's heart, abused in a marriage
The brink of holy war, bottled up, like a miscarriage"
Sarandib22 2 years ago
Immortal Technique:
"We act like we share in the spoils of war that they do
We die in wars, we don't get the contracts to make money off 'em afterwards!
We don't get weapons contracts, nigga!
We don't get cheap labor for our companies, nigga!
We are cheap labor, nigga!
Turn off the news and read, nigga!
Read... read... read..."

Here's an idea for the military for helping soldiers who are losing limbs - stop sending to fight immoral war after immoral war.

You know as well as I do that wouldn't be good for business. Haliburton and Blackwater aren't rich enough, and aren't you even conscerned about big oil? How can you be so insensitive?
(yes, I'm being sardonic of course.)

I admire your passion for peace, But like it or not wills can always happen, you don`t need to be the one starting it.
Cnidarious 2 years ago
@healthhavencom Define, immoral. Are you stating that what we deem as immoral is the same thing that is immoral by another culture? Morals are what we are taught, see and learn as we age, and depending on where you are, your morals will be different from someone elses. So what you define as,"immoral." could be in the eyes of another, quite moral. On another note, People will always fight one another, because in order to have peace, you must have chaos. If you have one the other will surface
XovenForester 1 year ago
@XovenForester Morals are developed to as a survival tool and corrupted by ignorance. Dont be a slut/std avoidance, dont hurt kill steal/ obvious outcome is cause and effect, for all the donts theres a reason even the ones based off ignorance. chaos is not a balance of order its ignorance. You help others you help your self. Make them stronger and you have to become stronger to be a par so you grow. Otherwise if you never have a reason to improve you become less than you could be.

@healthhavencom Outside of re-growing flesh from amputated or damaged organs... this can help me to have my sight back! I'm affected by keratoconus, a degenerative disease of the cornea wich the only cure is a double trasplant of cornea...
If they can build every part of the body, they can build also cornea!
enomis9393 10 months ago
@enomis9393 You have a degenerative disease of the cornea? That's interesting considering the cornea is made of cells which gradually are filled a with crystalline protein matrix. Most of your body already replaces itself every few years with the exception of some types of neural cells. Stem cells throughout are bodies are responsible for most of this regeneration. Unfortunately, some tissue have limited regenerative capabilities and regenerative tissues slowly lose stem cells.
chroniclerofthe70s 9 months ago
@chroniclerofthe70s it's my cornea's matrix that is wrong and everytime grows more deformed i accused first simptoms 4 years ago and now i'm 18. I still didn't took in consideration the transplant but i know that at my age is not very nice, i know that cornea can be transplanted easily, is one of the most resistant parts of body after death and finding a donator should be easily than other organs but if the medicine can make a cornea from my stam cells that would be 100% safe i think.
