I don't think there should be an uncharted movie at all untill cgi gets to the point that you can't tell the difference between a real person and a cgi person on screen. That way we could have the actors from the game and make the look exactly like the game characters.
Dude... I'm not a fan of Nathan Fillion. I've never seen his TV shows or anything of that nature. I saw him one night on a talk show. With that said, based on what I've seen, to deny that man the role of Nathan Drake is a crime against the arts and all of the fans of the game. He looks VERY similar to Drake. He talks/sounds almost exactly like him naturally. He has the same first fucking name as him. I'm really glad O Russell and Whalberg no longer have anything to do with this possible movie.

And Fillion is too old to play Drake. Maybe 15 years ago he'd be a good fit, but now Fillion's in his 40's and you can tell. Drake is 30 at most, and according to Drake's Trail he's only 27 in Uncharted 2.
He's exactly 40 now. That's not so far off. With a little workout and a few makeup artists he could easily look like he was 27-35. Honestly, even though he wouldn't look as young as Drake, I'd still want him for the role instead of some mainstream hollywood douchebag.

I agree with you. I don't want this movie to be made either but if it had to be made, THEN Fillion would be my pick. Making the series into a movie would be a major step backwards but it would be much more tolerable with a fitting actor, and hopefully, a writer/director that knows what he's doing.
Also, Fillion doesn't just resemble Drake in appearance if you ask me. He's got a very similar personality and a lighthearted attitude.
@ThePieIsLie I watched another video that suggested Chris Evans be Drake (if you've seen Cellular u know). I agree with the creator of that video he makes some good choices. Fillion is his second choice. Anyway Evans would make a good Drake because he's also got a personality like Drake.
He also picks Kristen Bell as Elelna and JkSimmons as Sully. Top choices imo.

The only thing that gives me any hope for this movie, is that Russel recently directed The Fighter, which was a bloody fantastic movie. If Whalberg DOES play Drake, at least Russel knows how to get the guy to act. Here's hoping everything turns out well in the end!!

I like seeing Wahlberg in films, but casting him would be a disaster. I see ratings similar to Max Payne, or most game films - in other words, it will be another forgettable film. If Mark Wahlberg has any respect for Uncharted, he'll drop out in favour of Fillion, not just for the fact that he'd be perfect but for the fans. As for Russell, I hope someone else ends up directing, or at least writing. At the moment, Russell is the only writer for some fucking reason...

thank you to the poster. i'm not a fillion fan, as i don't watch his stuff, but i checked out some of his work because someone said he would be a perfect drake and after seeing it, i completely agree. i couldn't imagine anyone else filling drakes shoes. if mark whalberg has any respect for the franchise, he'll drop out. that is an almost impossible notion, as we are talking hollywood. but damn dude, it's almost heartless not to give this to fillion. mainly for the fans, but for fillion as well.

This prooves that Russel doesn't know enough about the character to cast him properly, and he's obviously not working with Naughty Dog on this at all. Amy Hennig should be the one writing the script for the movie!!!
The only thing that gives me any hope for this movie, is that Russel recently directed The Fighter, which was a bloody fantastic movie. If Whalberg DOES play Drake, at least Russel knows how to get the guy to act. Here's hoping everything turns out well in the end!!

David O Russel, you're being incredibly ignorant in this video. The support of the fans will either make or brake this movie. I understand why you cast Mark Wahlberg; you've worked with him before, he's a box office name and a good actor. I'm not going to judge him until I see the movie.
However, to treat the fans and Nathan Fillion (a fantastic actor) with such distain is almost unforgivable. Watch Nathan Fillion's audition tape (and firefly). Drake was based on him for a reason.

this guy is just having his own take on how the film should be, but the studio didn't hire him, they hired Russell and ppl sayin Wahlberg can't play Drake are buggin, look at the beginning of The Italian Job you'll see how he was interacting w/ Donald in the beginning just like Drake and Sully. Mark can be hilarious when he wants (Four Brothers, I Heart Huckabees) and TMZ videos he cracks a couple of jokes. MW and NF are both actors but if u see Castle u'll see how NF doesn't fit.

Russell's replies were blow-offs. I guarantee he wasn't listening. I talked to Chuck Norris before and he pretended to care about what I was telling him, and he even said he was very interested in the movie script I handed him (while in Iraq), and someone else met up with him a week later in Bagdad who asked Chuck about my script and he said he 'must have lost it'.
These hollywood assholes don't care what you say...even if it is the truth. Mark in the bag. Deal with it.

I like seeing Wahlberg in films, but casting him would be a disaster. I see ratings similar to Max Payne, or most game films - in other words, it will be another forgettable film. Casting Nathan on the other hand would be wiser in that 1. most people will be able to take in Nathan's character, 2. It will most likely generate a cult following like Firefly, and 3. Drake was modeled around Nathan, and not the other way around - you would have to be pretty stupid to not see that.
