This ending? You get it if you harvest at least one Little Sister, AND save at least one. There is no "exact number," you do a mixture of harvesting and rescuing, not just harvesting and not just rescuing. (e.g. harvesting three and saving the rest, or saving one and harvesting the rest)

Its very complicated to explain, but I'll do my best. The stripper Jasmine you find dead in fort frolic well in her diary it says something about her getting pregant, and it is assumed the seed came from Ryan. Also a reason for this is because you can use the vita chambers which are reserved for Ryan's blood line.

There are three endings. People refer to this as the 'sad' ending due to the tone of Tenenbaum's voice as opposed to the evil/bad ending where her voice is much angrier. The reason for this is because she is *angry* that someone would harvest *all* little sisters with no remorse. But she's *sad* that someone would harvest *some* little sisters. It could be even one little sister ~ curiosity perhaps. The *good* ending is the one you're referring to, when you save all little sisters.

If you acted evil throughout the game you would get it. The little sisters gave Rapture to you but being as evil as you were, decided that on city isn't enough for you. So you bring the splicers to the surface in order to help you obtain nuclear warheads. I'm guessing you would have then threatened to blow up the world if you weren't in charge of it.
