  • hey wat kind of driver can i use to take off the black screws on the blu ray drive

  • Just attempted this myself, and my game came on 1st time, Thanks alot dude, have a drink on me lol. Going to attempt a x box 360 next . Fix it then fuck it off.

  • MGS4 doesn't load and I get a few games that cause Error Code 80010514 (Yeah, the fucking infamous one) so should I give this a try before I have to fork out for a new drive? Or could I potentially make the problem worse?

  • Hi Matt,

I'm Lisa, you're gorgeous & I could listen to you talk all day.

Please come fix my playstation & marry me

  • Righty-loosey Lefty-tighty (righty tighty-lefty loosey)

  • my brother this proceeder is it for every ps3

  • @NIKEYOoOBOY This is supposed to be specific to the backward compatible unit but it's not uncommon for other models of the PS3 to have the same issue. Actually, just about anything that uses a laser lens is prone to the same problem; it's more common when dealing with Blu-ray specifically though since it's a lot more sensitive to any particulates on the lens. The disassembly method would be different on each model though.

  • The connector thing that the blu-ray cable is attached to broke on mine and I tried fixing it by putting some card board onto it so that it would fit and it does but I still don't get anything on the ps3. So i don't know if it is the connection of the cable to the motherboard or if it is the blu-ray disc drive itselrf.

  • OMG! lf l would kiss someone it would be you. Thank you so much for this and taking your time to make this video. OMG! l let my friend use my PS3 when l went to China and l come back to it not working l was heated but with your help l fix it saving me $150. • @apple700 u did somethin wrong thea

  • lets see if you can help me my friend gave me his old ps3 it dont read any disk at all and mine has the yellow light of death so i took the hole disk tray out and put it in his hooked everything back up and tryd it and it still dont work what do you think it could be?

  • i have a slim..is it just same or do u know how to fix slims... my ps3 is reading dvd discs but not games it just dont happend anything when i put a game disk into it. I just hear a voice after like 10 secs after i had put my disc in..

  • @TheTofrat the setups a bit different but its easier

  • @TheTofrat The blu-ray laser is probably fucked. You can find them on ebay or maybe amazon, but I got mine from Ebay for 30 bucks. Requires disassembly...there's some really detailed tutorials online on how to do the PS3 Slim Blu Ray fix.

My blu ray laser died less than a year ago. I got a new one....but now it is dead again!

    Fucking bullllllllshit.

Do I play too much or WTF????

    Sony Junkstation 3.

30 bucks is better than getting a new PS3 though.

  • this video helped me out! I took mine apart today and cleaned it and having no trouble reading discs now!!

    Thanks dude!

  • @quagmire211 Very cool! I'm glad it helped you! Thank you for watching my video!

  • ok so my ps3 wont read Blu ray and only DVD's and when insert Call of Duty Black Ops it doesn't show it and sometimes it shows a gray disc with a bolt on it and says "corrupt data" any suggestions

  • @Ivanator777 that's a whole other problem entirely you have to restore your system. Youtube that part too it worked for me a couple months back and nooooow it's my blu ray lens that's acting up-_-

  • Totally worked. Thanks for the hard work man

  • @Tacoman14 I'm really glad it helped but it was your hard work that really paid off. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment! It definitely makes it worthwhile

  • just lettin u no, u got my ps3 up and running, cant believe it was that simple, ty saved me some cash.

  • @luappaul33 Awesome! I'm glad it saved you some $! Thank you for watching and the kind feedback!

  • Nice tats

  • @DJmushi27 Haha, i appreciate it! Still have a lot more work to do on those...

  • is your camera mirrored its all backwords

  • @SVTFordxx One word... Genius! I actually filmed this with a MacBook webcam and it filmed in mirror image. You're the only person that actually caught on... or at least the only one to say so. So, the sleeve of tattoos is actually on my right arm. Pretty odd

  • @terrorizingtheturbin My macbook pro does the same thing.

  • I done this and it didn't work I now think the lasers fuked a correct

  • My Brother said that he's Ps3 was only reading Ps2 disc!! Sometimes ps3! He's gives me the ps3 tomorrow, so i can fix it!! thanks to you, now i know how to fix it ^^

  • @noname69i Score! haha

  • Well i managed to open it.You cant imagine how much dust it had inside.I removed pretty much everything.I went to the botom even cleaned the fan.The only thing i didnt do is open the blue ray to clean the lens.It workeed for an hour or so but then it wouldnt read games again. So i opened the blue ray cleaned the lense and i kinda fucked up..Now when i put a games inside it would just go half of it inside and spin.I have no idea what to do now...

  • @B3engMarine It's probably an alignment problem, google something about it and you'd be able to fix it.

  • Thank u very very much for posting the video. My ps3 was not reading my games but now it works just fine. U just made my Christmas :)

  • @ajsewsankar Ugh, that stinks! Hope it's still working!

  • hell yeah brother this video just helped me fix my ps3

  • @shibby627 That's awesome! I'm glad it helped you & thank you for watching

  • my ps3 is a slim model and wont play bluray games. most of the time i can play online for maybe a couple of hours and then it just stops loading the disk. do you know if this method will help?? thanks and great vid

  • @paulinacio It's definitely worth a try for 2 reasons: It's a VERY common issue with gaming consoles. It's even more common with consoles that support Blu-ray. The reason is that the 'older' games relied on red lasers for playback. They were a LOT more forgiving of a dirty lens. Blu-ray is a blue laser (hence the name) that will not work with even minimal dust on the lens. The 2nd reason is that it's FREE. In my experience, you almost never see the dust. After you wipe it, it usually works great

  • i thought this would help but it now says i have no dis in there (doesnt show the blue light) Which this also leads to not able to take out the CD :( but thanks i guess

  • @Xx360XxGamingXx Did you get it sorted out?

  • bought the alcohol... opened the ps3... rub alcohol on lense... insert disc... but it's still no good... T-T

  • hi. my ps3 stopped reading disks today. its 40 gb version. 4 years old. Should i even try to clean it or just send it to the repair. It happen from day to day. yesterday it was fine today its dead. Till today it had problem to read disk maybe twice. So should i try to clean it? thanks for help

  • @milujemvejku It's definitely worth a try. It's free and a very common issue after the blu laser technology was available. It's much less forgiving than the standard red laser technology (DVD) when dust gets on the lens. You probably wont even be able to see the dust but wipe it with a fine cotton and 90%+ rubbing alcohol.

  • thats my problem i cant find a screwdriver like that ... :/ cant we use an other tool or something to unscrew the bolt?

  • @B3engMarine The T-10 screwdriver is available pretty much everywhere. Wal-Mart, Home Depot, Lowes and even at Amazon.com. You really should just stick to the T-10 torx screwdriver. You will strip the screws with anything else. Let me know if you have any other questions.

  • Where did you get your t10 screwdriver?

  • @pieexpress4442 They are pretty much sold everywhere. Wal-Mart, Home Depot, Lowes etc. Mine is from a set that I got from my wholesaler but you can pretty much find a T-10 torx screwdriver anywhere.

  • So i just picked up an old 60GB model that a guy was selling for £20 because it's only playing PS2 games and music CDs, so if this fix works I will be a very happy chappy! I'll report back and let you know, assuming I don't wreck the whole thing xD

20 years of disemboweling PCs should make it a bit easier.

  • @TheDudeOnTheDrums Haha, well good luck to you! It sounds to me like you just got a perfectly good machine for WAY less than 99% of everyone else paid!

  • where to buy the alcohol ? what brand?

  • @nov666 It's just rubbing alcohol. In the video I used 90%. You should be able to buy it at any local drug store i.e Walgreens, Rite Aid, CVS etc. Usually it's 70% so make sure to look for the 90% or just ask an associate. It's $2 or less.

  • @terrorizingtheturbin is it ok when i use Isopropanol 99,9% , amazon says its pharmacy quality

  • @soadhusky That will be perfect! Let me know how it goes for you!

  • @soadhusky Yes, that's perfect!

  • @terrorizingtheturbin i actualy didnt wait that long and buyed it(isopropyl) two days after i wrote the message, and cleaned the lense.

    and IT WORKS, THANKS!

    Happy Holidays! ;)

  • Is this the 80 gb no wifi model

  • @TheKillerBunny6 I'd have to go back and ask the customer but I don't think so. In this case, it shouldn't matter since the lenses are identical.

  • Thanks you but it is already to late, a couple of months ago i bought another ps3 because i thought the old ps3 was just trash but i kept it to play ps2 games. I also took off the warenty sticker off and no one will take it. but this VIDEO WORKED so thanks anyways now i have 2 working ps3 =)

  • @TheKillerBunny6 Haha, well I'm glad it helped you. Better to have 2 working after the fact than have none at all lol

  • My ps3 inside is different!

  • Cleaned my lense, not sure if it's goin to work.. but anything is worth a try at this point (ie. MW3 is out!!!). A great help.. Thanks.

  • @BillyG2012 AWESOME GAME! Thank you for watching!!

  • I got my sticker off at... 10:20

  • @TNT9995 LMAO. It's not fun the 1st time

  • thank you !

  • Thanks a million. I've had a "bad" lens for two years now. I've just resorted to inserting and ejecting the disc, sometimes hundreds of times, to get it to read (this always worked and for periods it seemed fixed). But I cleaned the lens as per this vid yesterday and so far have had perfect performance. Just saying thanks b/c this vid is the clearest on the details of how to gently take apart the pieces (ribbons scared me) . I am not a computer guy but screws I can do.

  • @enscribe Thank you so much for watching! I'm glad it was helpful to you!

  • My Ps3 won't read any disk at all and this is the only thing I haven't done yet. At first I thought it was because of dust bit when I opened it up today there was very little dust and o didn't clean it in over a year. I have a question the ribbon cable is it easy to put back. Does it need to be put back?

  • @xXNovaxDeathxStarXx it definitely needs to be put back, and its not hard. easy...i mean i its not quite like plugging in an electronic device in the wall, but its not too hard, just look it up first to make sure you know what to expect

  • nice work buddy

  • @turk2nvy Thank you!
