I didn't base it just on how well it sold, if you payed attention. I mainly based it on how well it's been received by people..But in the same sense, records don't sell if they suck. Thats why the album is 5 times platinum in Canada, has sold 7.7 million worldwide, etc. I wish I knew more facts right off the top of my head but I don't.

I disagree. This was clearly a live performance, and a great one at that. He even reached over and did the short piano riff at 2:22 because Guy was on the bass guitar at that time. I have seen one other performance that had a lip synch assist but this is not one of them.

Top of the Pops is known to have some of their live performances pre-recorded. However, I cannot say for sure about this one. A good example of a lip synch gone bad for TotP is NIRVANA's 'teen spirit live funny version'

this must be the fifth coldplay song live ive watched tonight and i gotta say, i honestly think that they sing better live on most songs than the studio recordings. definitely this song and Violet Hill are better live in my opinion. if there is one thing i really wanna do sometime, its go to a coldplay concert!

I'm going to the Shoreline Amphitheatre on 7/13 to see them. It will be my first Coldplay concert. They added a second show near Sacramento for the 14th but I don't know if I can go two in a row! It's 122 miles from here, but I've heard of people driving further than that to see them. I don't know how they do back to back concerts as they do. They must have an efficient production company.

I did see them live on 7/13 and 7/14/09, and I can say for sure that their live concert performances are extremely powerful compared to even their live performances on TV. In the concert, Chris is like a king in his castle, and he sings much more forcefully and from the heart than when he is on TV. For the second concert, I had excellent seats and could see and hear them perfectly. It was truly a magical night. See my channel page for a playlist of clips from the concert.

On TOTP, they do a "karioke" mix. the music is the same track as on the album, but the vocal track has been ommited, so Chris can take whatever liberties he wants.
