  • The Call of Cthulhu game was fantastic although I never got around to trying out any mods etc.

Nice atmospheric vid even if its a bit old.

  • i dont need mods im almost downloading rigth now the original game :b

  • @techdeckO5

You my friend, are the reasons Headfirst Interactive went out of business and that there will be no more Call of Cthulhu games. No Destinys End, no Beyond the Mountains of Madness, and that people like you are responsible for the job loss of many good hard working artists.

  • @techdeckO5 dude you suck there are so much more that you can do with mods you should never touch a game again

  • "Doctor Freeman" -_-

  • hey this game looks pretty good.

i hope that its still being worked on. i like all teh detail put into the city so far.

i realize that this vid is 2 years old so i wont comment on the things i dont like, but they are few anyways.

really dig that leaky roof. it was pretty damn cool

  • @BananasMana yer it dose look cool

  • nice video

  • I believe this is Garrys Mod

  • @Gishatako

    No it's a mod.

  • @Gishatako This is Garry's Mod, its obvi

  • I would be very interested in seeing this reincarnated somehow. The original CryEngine might be a good engine to work from if you can access it.

  • @JaftenLKA

Nah, Cryengine is good for large island/outdoor environments, not for indoor ones.

  • What game is this?

  • Half-Life 2.

  • HOLY SHIT

Wow, finally, a HL2 mod that doesn't suck. Is it dead? 0_O

  • Not dead mate =) It's still going and looking great. The website goes public soon.

  • long time nobodys coment o.O thanks for the video n.n

  • Thanks, no problems.

  • is a good game !

  • Thanks.

  • No reflection in the mirror? Creepy!

    O_0

  • lol...

  • The main character is actually a vampire, by the looks of it.

  • Nah he's a Detective. You won't see much of him except for in the photos on the wall.

  • What about a vapire detective! Thats dead original! And I know you say not to but ORLLY!

  • How does he look like a vampire?

  • I think he is referring to the fact that you can't see your character's reflection in the mirror

  • Ohh XD That's a Source Limitation.

  • With implimentation of the modified engine from Portal making a perfectly working mirror would be possible, as seen with the portal device allowing you to look at yourself.

  • Mythos creatures are going to appear in this game?... Dagon, M.Hydra... the other ones with the hard names... and... Cthulhu xD?

  • If I find the time to finish it, Cthulhu himself will be in it, as well as possibly Dagon/Mother Hydra.

  • Cool... and what about normal monster?

  • The Deep ones, Deep one Sorcerers, Cultists. Pretty much the gang from Dark Corners of the Earth.

  • So... nothing original?

  • You'll see.

  • =D.....

  • Looks cool, and I'm glad to hear it's not abandoned. So will the game be something like DCotE? What I liked about that game was that it didn't fit in any one genre - the combination of investigation, stealth and FPS combat made it really unique.

  • It's similar to DCOTE, yep, but a majority of the game is set in Ainsborough City investigating various areas. I have a more recent video up in my youtube gallery, you should check it out if you like this.

  • Is the project dead??

  • The project is not being developed at current, but trust me, it will rise again one day, and probably at industry-standards. You might even see it on store shelves, on it's own engine.

  • =O...........

  • When I have good funding from a publisher, and enough money for the Unreal engine or something, I'll see about redoing it.

  • Umm... ok... Unreal Engine.. Goodbye.. i wont play ths game never... My PC is so Badass -.-... but i will try to play even in one of my friends PC..

  • You just contradicted yourself, and also made no sense.

You say you won't play it, then say you try to play it on one of your friends pc.

  • I mean that i wont play in my PC because my PC is a shit and wont support it... but my friends's PC are better and i going to play this game in ther PC.. Id i didn't express fine is because i am venezuelan (spanish)

  • Ohhh ok. Cool.

  • How long before we have the chance to play any version of this game for real?

You should make a kinda beta demo, just to give us something to try at least!

  • At the moment, it's just a modification for the Half-Life 2 alpha. I could never get the retail SDK working properly due to bad errors, so it's not exactly easy to get your hands on. If you have the Half-Life 2 alpha, I can send you the map + materials, but there's no real storyline as of yet, despite what I had planned.

  • Okay, well great work anyway dude! I've been thinking about making my own Lovecraft-inspired game too; would mostly be adventure and mood-focused... but that's really lotta work!

That's why I'm encouraging you to keep working on this project... Let us know if you have something new! ;)

  • Absolutely. Will do. I may post some future video updates in the future of this game.

  • where can I get it?

  • It's no longer available unfortunately. Chaosium doesn't want it released.

  • It cán´t be Freeware?

  • I guess I could try. It actually needs a bit of graphical touching-up too, as a lot of textures are aging in quality. The other reason for holding back, is the fact that I'm entering the games-design world now, and with an idea behind me, I may wish to publish a fully-finished copy of this on a good engine with much better graphics as a new game.

  • Ok men!... That means that u won´t cancel the game?

  • Nah I won't, but it'll take a long time to become good.

  • mmm does it have any official home page?

  • It used to, but it was hacked badly and had to be taken down.

  • Amazing loooking!

Which game is this modded from?

  • i think that is pure....

  • I'm hoping one day to port it to a new-produced engine.

  • It's a mix of the Half-Life 1 and Half-Life 2 engine, however it's looking better by the day (this video is prehistoric graphics compared to what we have now)

  • still good... if the game keep that graphics i can play it on my PC!

  • Yep!

  • Is this your own sequel to Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth or something different, and how can I play it, cause it looks cool. It sucks that all the sequels for call of cthulhu were cancelled :( But this looks good.

  • Actually, yes in a way, It's not directly tied to DCOTE (No references to Innsmouth or Jack Walters) but it's my own personal shot at a "film noir" detective/gangster story with a bit of DCOTE style and Mythos elements to it.

    Glad you like it ^^

  • Where can I buy it or get my hands on it?

  • It's not for sale, but it's still being worked on. It's being produced by my small mod-house company Stormware Interactive.

  • So does that mean I won't be able to play it?

  • Oh of course you'll be able to play it, when it's released. Just not at this moment.

  • hey men hello again!... im still thinking the game is fucking cool!! the game will be freeware or commercial?

Because i live in venezeula T_T

  • It will be freeware unless I get the opportunity to publish it.

  • cool man

  • Thanks :D

  • Men this game is cool!! but i see that you can´t see your reflect on the mirror...well is very coll anyways and can you show a trailer of using a weapon or something?...you will put hand-to-hand weapons as knife and others?...may you ride cars (of that time obvious), boats or anything?...Can you interact with other people?...if we are talking of percentage how much have the project?...and the most important thing will you have a flashlight!?...

  • You will not be able to drive cars, as the protagonist doesn't own a (working) car. You can use a stag knife from the civil war, and a wrench, as well as a few other melee weapons. You can interact and ask questions, get clues etc. There's no real % of the project, but it has the story and elements. You can use lanterns for lighting if you have one.

  • I'll be keeping an eye on this project. There aren't enough Mythos games out there

  • Take some advice from me. Keep an eye on it for now, and even if you see no progress, give it time. This game WILL be released. I may have to get some plans underway to produce another game to fund this one.

  • Hearing the Barber call you Dr Freeman was quite satisfying

  • I haven't voiced anyone except the protagonist yet sadly.

  • Very good, what will the story be about ?

is it normal to be rainging in the houses as well? or will you just say it is dripping?

The way EA has been buying companies I am almost sorry it didnt buy the guys that made Call so we could see a sequal

  • True, I would've loved a sequal.

The storyline allows you to enter any building of choice that's unlocked or open in the city.

  • No offense..but why do you response on every comment ?

  • Why not?

  • this is gonna be great! I am glad I was a part of the project!

  • Ah hey 8D I didn't know you had an account here.

I have a newer trailer up, take a look around my profile.

  • The background music is from a old dos FPS called Rise of the Triad

  • Ah yes, I remixed the old Mistache track for that long mournful tune halfway through.

  • There's so much interest in another COC videogame, you'd think that one of the major software companies would GET OFF THEIR ASSES AND PRODUCE ONE! AAAIIIGGGGHH!

    Calm down...relax...calm down...ia...ia...

  • We'll see how far this goes.

  • Really good stuff. Great music too - especially at the end. Sing along with the melody! "In the darkness...oh, in the darkness...the best - game - ever from Ry'leh!" You'll have it stuck in your head for hours.

  • Haha thanks.

  • did you make this?? and how i reall want to make a cthulhu game.

  • Yes, I made this, the entire city from scratch. I used Half-Life 2's SDK, containing a level editor called Hammer.

If you wish to make a cthulhu game, give it a try, or you could help me work on this one.

  • is this a mod if it is is it suppose to be a horror mod

    murder mod

    or some mystery mod

    anyway GREAT VID :P

  • Mixture of all three. It's a hard-boiled detective movie in a game form. You play the role of a 1920s detective in a fictional New-England city investigating a corrupt mayor, with many influences of H.P. Lovecrafts work.

  • Is it set in Massachusetts?

  • Originally it was in Vermont, but yep, it's now in Massachusetts.

  • I like it, great stuff! :D

  • Thanks :D

  • Thanks :D
