  • soo bad love that fender sound

  • ALbert Lee is so smooth and seamless. It just flows.

  • fuckin awesome

  • Cocaine isn't Clapton's Song!!! Is a song written by JJCale!!Forgive my English but I'm Italian...

  • Many years ago I had the cassette version of Time Pieces that had the live version of Cocaine (oddly, the CD has the studio version). I had believed for many years that Clapton played the solos on the live version, but I've now learned was actually Albert Lee. The live version can be found on Just One Night (Live)

  • Hard to compare between him and E.Clapton. Eric is more of a blues purist as compared to Albert Lee. Anyway, why are you guys jealous of Clapton's success? He made it by his own hard work.

  • @MrStreetofdreams ) Clapton plays blues because it is the easiest to play and Albert Lee and Tommy Emanuel walk circles around him. Nobodies jealous, just pointing out the facts........

  • None better than Albert Lee; check out his Hot Band period with Emmy Lou -- especially 'You Never Can Tell.'

  • That is some serious as.. kicking !!!

  • Marvellous!!!

  • Smooth :) Albert Lee was a superb match to Eric Clapton in the late '70's and early 80's..

  • similar sound to mark knopfler, really nice

  • What kind of guitar is Albert playing?

  • @MrStratocaster1949 An Ernie Ball Music Man Albert Lee. Awesome guitars.

  • @MrStratocaster1949 Some kind of crappy, ugly and absurdly priced Musicman guitar. I'm sure it cost at least $2K. That's almost Fender Custom Shop money... for an off-brand guitar.

  • @Hoopermazing you should check your guitar history, music man is far from an off brand, leo fender helped create a lot of their guitars and left fender to work for them.music man amps have been used by everyone(mark Knofler, eric clapton,etc).$2k for an american made instrument is a fair price.I agree that guitar is ugly though.check out the ernieball/musicman factory tour here on youtube.

  • Virtuoso....epic...

  • listen to albert on brad paisleys cluster pluck on his play album its amazing

  • inspirational

  • NICE

  • Wow !

  • Kids. Settle down. You do know that Albert played in Eric's band for around seven years in the early 1980's? The two are best friends. Have been for around 40 years.

  • Actually, I never knew there were so many great guitar players in the WORLD until I found so many on YouTube and everybody likes their own favorite player. Tommy Emanuel is mine!

  • @iditarod9 Mine too!

  • @iditarod9 tommy emmanuel sure is ahead of the game

  • awesome.

  • Jesus Christ!

  • Eric Clapton and Albert Lee are pretty different guitarists. Why compare the two? Come on, no one is better than the other, although I think Clapton writes better music.

  • @Krinklehead ) Albert lee can play circles around Clapton and Clapton knows it............

  • @iditarod9 you're a ball sack. Albert Lee oes play on a different, harder, faster level than clapton, but that's because clapton loves the blues. Clapton can go to Lee's level, he just doesn't play that way. not his style. and yeah, clapton would probably say albert lee can play circles around him, but who cares, clapton made a lot more fans with his guitar playing

  • @Krinklehead ) Many guitarists in the world are better than Clapton but have no commercial sauces because they don't, or didn't play with any drug head rock band and develop that type of fan base. Look too Tommy Emanuel for real guitar playing, or Atkins, and so many others better than Clapton. The blues is the easiest style to play anyway and considered trash music by real guitar players.

  • Comment removed

  • @iditarod9 your an air head..

listen to joe bonamassa...eric johnson all their playing is rooted blues

sure everyone can run circles round clapton...but do most shredheads have the feel that he does? nd druggo band? it was the 60s. cream was a pioneer of rock and roll...look through the decades and how guitar playing evolved.. clapton was first "guitar hero" so to speak. then came hendrix, eddie van halen, steve vai and countless other players who all have their own take. no one sucks, cept you

  • @hlmguitarsaxman ) You acid heads are tone deaf anyway and as long as it is loud, you are happy.......All rock guitarists sound alike....NOISY.......!

  • albert is awesome, but if you are really saying that EC is crap, you have no idea what you are talking about, if you mean his technique is not that fancy, why the fuck are you here watching a guy play trough pentatonic scale? try watching someone play asturias or something and GTFO, eric clapton has composed so many Great stuff, derek & the dominoes, cream, solo, he is an amazing musician, why do you fucking kids want to have a guitar jerkoff everywhere? dont you appreciate music?

  • I Love Albert Lee's playing ,but why does he play this guitar now? The tone sounds like it is from a childs toy ( though not too bad on this song ) Wish he would go back to a Tele

  • Albert...!!

  • Hes such a versatile player and hes been playing longer than clapton

  • Incredible tone. Incredible precision. Nobody better, IMHO.

  • what is the guitar ????

  • @TheGuma96 It's a Music Man "Albert Lee"

  • what the fuck!! the man's too strong..

  • awesome but i love clapton aswell, i dont think the 2 can really be compared as they play different styles... both equally deserving of the guitar god status :D

  • wow

  • Aye he knows his way round a fretboard

  • Saw Albert Lee & Hogans Heroe's 8th dec.Isle of wight.Audience very staid,no participation.

The band deserved a lot better.

Added vocals from the drummer & pianist also very good.

    Pianist was exceptional.

You must see this group of musicians if you want a great night out.,

  • Eric Clapton disliked this video.

  • @gummipo Eric Clapton is an elevator music corporate rock douchebag! Long live Albert Lee!

  • @gummipo Can you blame him... That's a tough act to follow!

  • best double stops ive heard with great phrasing at 1:18

  • how is this possible as a simple human to play like this? amazing!! sure he's not god on holyday on earth?

  • @philipvangeetruy Albert Lee is not a god he is a guy who spent a lot of time with a guitar in his hands, if you want to appreciate his playing think about the reality of dedication it took to develop his style. it isn't magic just perseverance.

  • @1overthehillsfaraway damn good perseverance though :D

  • Why can't some of you people, just listen to ONE great guitar player, WITHOUT bashing ANOTHER great guitar player? On your BEST day, you'll NEVER be able to play like Albert OR, Eric!

  • He is SO tasteful...... Clapton's really just a lucky buffoon

  • @violinbloke Clapton's no lucky buffoon. It's called being a great songwriter. I love Albert Lee and believe he's the superior guitar player, but he can't touch EC as a songwriter, and that's why he doesn't enjoy Clapton's fame or notoriety. Albert Lee just isn't a great songwriter. He's an awesome guitar player, but will leave no lasting legacy as a composer.

  • @RoadWarrior35 ...OK, you're right about that. It's just that I've always thought of Clapton as an awful musician, and very mediocre guitarist. Take Layla for instance, a great riff followed by endless histerical overdubbed crap.

  • @violinbloke Take Layla for instance..., or Strange Brew, Sunshine of your Love, Outside Women Blues, White Room, Crossroads, All your Love, Hideaway, Key to Love, Steppin' Out, Rambling on My Mind ... all of them in the 60's with Cream and Bluesbreakers. ...mediocre stuff... hysterical crap... awful guitar ... awful music ...

  • @ulisescervantes peter green in the blues breakers was the bollocks but yeah clapton aint what every says he is utter shite

  • @fuckalluhoes91 It is true that Clapton's "legend" has been inflated over the years for lucrative purposes. But his 60's era (and also early 90's) are inspirational for me. No fast playing, no fancy scales, but a very unique deep blues sound. That can't be replicated by Albert Lee, the same that EC can't replicate things that Albert Lee or Peter Green did (although Peter Green worked hard to get EC sound early in Bluesbreakers, just an opinion).

  • @ulisescervantes peter green never copied eric clapton watch man of the world matey says peter green knew all the blues rifts eric clapton did but he werent gonna do them like him he was gonna do it his way. eric clapton is obviously good but hes nothing special

  • @fuckalluhoes91 Peter Green did his way. I just said "early" and "sound", nothing else, but OK just an opinion

  • @ulisescervantes seeing as the supernatural is his first track he made and it pisses all over ec all day long, its a wrong opinion but i suppose people are allowed them too

  • @ulisescervantes peter green, albert lee, ry cooder, rory gallagher there special

  • smooth as warm syrup on pancakes!! geez....

  • Brilliant. Go Al.

  • c'est incroyable ie that's amazing

  • "That's not bad"?!?! That's fucking awesome!

  • you see all these chinese kids shredding cannon rock getting millions of views, but this tops them by far, true style!

  • Now that I've stumbled on Albert Lee I am truly blown away how well he plays. I think he deserves to be in the same class as Chuck Berry, Keith Richard, George Harrison, Eric Clapton and others whose music I grew up with in England in the '60s. Thanks for the post which I shall treasure.

  • @etransform Albert did some wonderful guitar work with Emmy Lou Harris in the '70s as well. Great songs, records, music.

  • Albert makes the guitar sing.

  • This is fantastic

  • i just jissed on myself

  • Yngwie Malmsteen should get himself a gun and put a bullet through his head after watching and LISTENING to this.

  • wow awsome. thanks

  • I just HATE IT when people say that so-and-so is better than whatsisname...in fact what you are saying is ..,I LISTEN TO BETTER STUFF THAN YOU AND YOUR MUSICAL TASTE SUCKS. Stop arguing over who is best for fucks sake, it's pointless...just enjoy it all. For what it's worth, I rate Hendrix over all other guitarists but I still listen to all the others and love their different styles and approaches to music. There's more than one way to play.

  • @larjanus the same could be said for U not letting people have there opinions, I hate people who don't let other people have their opinions, and I see people arguing about it as pointless, maybe U should just let it be, and understand that it is what makes the world go round, try not to get to emotion over a youtube debate, the people who write these comments could not give a flying fck what u or me thinks, they probably get off on you getting stressed, it's up to you

  • @UKToneKing re-read what I said Bloaterhead, and stop arguing against yourself...and btw it would help if you.learn to spell and differentiate between THERE, THEY'RE AND THEIR. Back to school sonny

  • @larjanus well as for the spelling, I kind of knew U were a numb nut's anyway, so thought spelling would be the least of my worry's, as for punctuation, BTW does not cut it either, if U are being picky that is, normally in chat I don't bother with the correct grammar, as long as it means the same, if that is to difficult for U to understand tuff ( or better still, go fck your self lol ) U fcking wanker, your a first class sex case, now do one bumb boy, fcking kiddy fiddling cunt.

  • your reply kind of says it all about you...I'll let it stand.

  • @larjanus ok

  • Uhm Eric, could you step in my office please? You're fired!

  • Clapton is also a great guitar player, they are just different players, but both very good

  • MAN IS A GENIUS LIKE, HE IS TRULY ONE OF THE GREATS, ONE OF THE BEST EVER, HE IS THE KING OF COUNTRY LICKS AND JUST ABOUT ANY OTHER LICKS U THROW AT HIM

  • 1:47 i like

  • man... he can play the guitar...

    what the hell...

  • Sure plays a mean guitar..

  • Absolute-lee amazing!

  • albert lee a model of humility an good manners

  • it was kinda ironic that albert worked for clapton, its also funny that clapton fired him after almost 10 yrs just because he was a better player thats why i made that comment

  • clapton only wishes he could play like this!

  • @65bluzman Are you serious??? Clapton's the best!!!

  • @plamenige you've got to be freaking kidding me. Clapton is like Slash. they only play in pentatonic scale, and for blues players, that's all they need. However... Albert Lee is a country guitar player. He can play blues, rockabilly and country. Clapton could NEVER play like this. Also, he became a lot repetitive over time. He was outstanding in the 60's with that Fool SG. He have aged you know?... He's not what he used to be. Albert Lee can kick his ass any day of the week.

  • @plamenige Also, Hendrix, Page and Beck kicked Clapton's ass in the 60's, so there's no point in saying that "Clapton's the best". He sure was one of the best. Today he's more of a icon. Like Buddy Guy or BB King. They've aged, they're not as good as they used to be. This is normal, people get old. It's the circle of life. Clapton is by far one of the best guitarrists I've seen, but to say that "he's the best" it's your opinion and preference, that doesn't mean it's the "only truth".

  • @Taikamya Albert lee is awesome, he is my fav' country player. Those country players like him and vince gill can play some super fast / super cool licks. What makes the difference between them and the greats blues players is the vibrato, clapton and BB king for exemple can bend a string like no one else. This kind of vibrato give me chills, that's all i can tell. Check out "i'm tore down" by clapton and tell me again he is not what he used to be !

  • @Geoffreyg41 Bending? Say Hi to Gilmour! hahaha. And I stand by what I said. Clapton is still a great player, and what he have done, makes him into the best ever, of course. But he's not half the player he was when Cream was still going on, or even Blind Faith. Clapton from the 60's was... godlike. He was not Hendrix or Page or Beck but then again, I'm mentioning gods here. Time does that, he's aged well, but he's not 25 anymore. He does not have that creativity anymore.

  • @Taikamya BIGEST LOAD OF BULL SHIT I HAVE EVERY HEARD, HE HAS MORE CREATIVITY NOW THAN HE EVER DID, HE IS NOT AS YOUNG, SO HE CAN NOT THROW HIMSELF ABOUT ON STAGE, BUT HIS PLAYING IS BETTER NOW THAN IT EVER WAS, GUITAR IS NOT LIKE FOOTBALL U KNOW, U DON'T HAVE TO BE A SPRING CHICKEN TO PLAY GREAT STUFF, GO LISTEN TO LAYLA OR COCAINE, IT SOUNDS THE SAME NOW AS IT DID IN THE EARLY DAYS, U MUST SEE THAT RIGHT, ZAC WYLDE IS OLDER NOW, BUT HE IS GETTING BETTER AND BETTER, NOT SURE U ARE HEARING RIGHT

  • @Taikamya THAT IS LIKE SAYING ALBERT LEE IS NOT PLAYING LIKE HE USED TO, WHEN HE CLEARLY IS

  • @Taikamya FOR THE RECORD, CLAPTON CAN PLAY AS WELL AS ALBET, HE IS DIFFERENT, BUT IS MORE THAN CAPABLE OF MATCHING HIM, THIS IS WHAT A LOT OF PEOPLE DON'T SE, CLAPTON IS A RENOWNED GUITAR PLAYER, NOT BECAUSE HE IS OK, BUT BECAUSE HE IS GREAT, AND HE CAN DO THE SAME KIND OF STUFF ALBERT LEE CAN, U ASK HIM TO PLAY ANYTHING ALBERT PLAYS, BET HE COULD PULL IT OFF, I DON'T THINK THEIR IS ANYTHING A PLAYER LIKE CLAPTON COULD NOT PUL OF, THAT'S WHAT MAKES HIM GREAT, IT IS WHY WE PAYED BIG TIME TO C HIM

  • @UKToneKing I've never seen or heard clapton play at the speed and precision albert has...but that aint clapton's gig...clapton just has that feel...he might be more capable soloing over "cocaine" than albert..

  • @UKToneKing he cant do shit mate he is strictly blues he is so unbelievably average no idea why hes so successful

  • @UKToneKing That's a bet you'd lose. Clapton can not play like Albert that's why Clapton hired him, make's sense?

  • @joe1969812 well me or U for that matter are not in a position to decide that, if U think for the last 30 years clapton has not experimented with different stuff U would be wrong, I know through my own experiences, I have tried all sorts, I think clapton hired him to play that way, because if he did, he would still have to hire some else to play like him, makes sense.

  • @UKToneKing No it does not. 95% of the people in the world cant play like Albert, l love Clapton but to be honest he has been playing the same 8 licks for 45 yrs. l know he dabbled in everything, like me and you and most every guitar player, but that doesn't make him even close to Albert at country. Albert is a specialty player of sorts, he chicken picks country at least at that time like no one else. Another way to put this, do you think Albert is gonna out do Clapton at blue's, not even close.

  • @joe1969812 well A guy above says albery is pretty average, he say's he can do country and that is it, which to me is not a great guitar player, go check carl verheyen out, he does a bit of blues, county, jazz all into one style, now that is a man who can play, makes albert look like an old timer

  • @UKToneKing Albert is country, yeah Verheyen is great but to me acoustic is where its at, check out Monte Montgomery. lmo he can outplay ANYBODY, and does it on an acoustic. l recomend Sultains of Swing or Little Wing by Monte, if you love guitar you'll be glad you did.

  • @joe1969812 He is pretty sick like, I am a dire strate's fan, well nut is the correct word, so I love new versions of sultan of swing, seen a guy do a Spanish classical version, similar to this on youtube, little wing is another one I like, who has not learnt that over the years, spent many a night sitting up till all hours getting it right, also I like the SRV one, think it adds it's own kick

  • @UKToneKing You know your stuff my man. check out Ben Lacy he's a whole different guitarist. But Monte is my man on acoustic.

  • @plamenige the best pentatonic player

  • @65bluzman HUH ?

  • @65bluzman just "LOL"

  • @65bluzman different play styles bro

  • @65bluzman No shit!!! Lol

  • @65bluzman we all do

  • Amigo carpomania que gran video de El Viejo Feliz Albert has subido. Sabes cual estoy buscando y seria genial encontrar?, a Albert tocando Knockin on a heavens door que hace un solo memorable. Abrazo.

  • one word !! Wow !!

  • JFC! Albert has god in his fingers.

  • i absolutely love this guy's playing, especially on this song. he was in eric clapton's band in the late 70s, and his solo on this song on the live album "just one night" completely knocked my head off first time i heard it. i've listened to it a thousand times since and can never get enough. a lot of the same licks, or types of licks, are here. i LOVE this--thanks so much for posting it!

  • In the tab book you get this whole solo tabbed out too!
