  • these ppl r weird as fuck but oviously a mma guy would destroy any boxer in mma fight. but there r many mma fighters could beat boxers in a boxing match. most of u fucks are dumb alot of pro boxers went to mma so how can anyone say boxers r way better? boxing isint even fighting!!! its one aspect. EVERY BOXER HAS ONE 3RD OF THE SKILL OF A MMA FIGHTER. boxing is dead its pathedic now and always was boring

  • sean sherk?...... He has NEVER, EVER knocked anyone out on the feet. EVER. Do your homework.

  • sean sherk has fast hands,he white isnt he

  • You can even go by what Freddy Roach said about Fedor. He said that Fedor Emelianenko's punches are not technically sound by boxing standards. And Fedor is supposed to be one of the most dominant mma fighter. So what does that tell you about the rest of them? Im not a hardcore fan of either UFC or boxing, but technical striking goes to boxers.

  • When did I say that UFC was a style? Chill out, you MMA'ers are overemotional bitches. Im using UFC as an example because that is the biggest MMA promotion in the US. Would it make you cum if I mentioned Sengoku, Dream, Pride (gone), and Affliction (gone). Bottomline, UFC fighters dont box as well as boxers. Watch Tim Sylvia VS Ray Mercer. Mercer gave Tim one strike and laid him out. Boxers have better and more accurate strikes. UFC fighters only get by with pure power punches.

  • Boxers are much better pure punchers than UFC fighters. UFC fighters swing wildly, boxers are much more premise strikers. On top of that, they defend striking better than UFC fighters. UFC fighthers are on the ground in less than 2 rounds when they try to strike. A boxer can go 12 rounds before you can strike him on his azz. UFC fighters only have ground game over boxers.

  • UFC isn't a style, dumbass.

You're talking about MMA, which is the combination of martial arts to comprise a larger style of fighting.

Ground game is based around wrestling, jiujitsu, brazillian jiujitsu, judo, greco-roman, sumo, sambo and plenty of other things. What someone in UFC studies could include some of these or none at all.

But watch the early UFC fights. When most people were only one martial art. Boxers got it handed to them by submission grapplers. Surprising, but an example.

  • i dont know how they are trying to talk about MMA when they dont even know anything about it except for ken shamrock from his time in WWE....

  • I think the sports help each others' popularity...

  • Street fighter background or not, wrestling is wrestling and ju jitsu is ju jitsu just the same as boxing. No amount of street fighting will prepare you going against anyone elite in any of these.

  • *boxing is boxing

  • Any boxer who goes to mma wud get twatted! every mma fighter is a fucking animal! and dont even argue ive dun boxing an mma! boxing is gud for your punches but u gota be redy for more eg kicks, elbows, grappling etc a boxer would go down like a sack of shit if mma kicked him in the leg or in the face! mma is more effective on the streets to! so if your gona be good enuf to make millions do boxing but if your guna be average then do mma becuz it will apply more on the streets gud luk muva fukers!

  • most you guys yapping about boxing and mma have most likely never done either..bunch of pussies all around.

  • Ok. You redneck dumb asses. Your comparisons are so incredibly shallow. Boxers are not strikers. Boxers are one dimensional punchers. Boxing is Archaic, a real martial art like Muay Thai far out does boxing. Not only does it take elbows, knees, and kicks into the picture but it takes out impractical bullshit like ducking and weaving downwards. Boxing has had its time and its time has passed.

  • well the only problem with your logic is..boxers punch harder then anyone..and punching is the most effect strike. So you can say they arent strikers..but if you ever fought a fight with one..im sure you wouldnt try to strike..you would grapple..so clearly..they are strikers...

  • wrong!!!!!!!!!! Muay Thai kickboxer would stand & fight with a boxer any day, boxing is only 1 aspect of striking & when a boxer gets hurt, he will grab, no ref will split them though & the Muay Thai kickboxer will knee the shit out of the boxer

  • thy hate it cuz thy knw their shitty sport is not even close to complete fighting and thy would get pummeled by any decent mma fighter in the street.

if old senile types lyk mccain r gr8 fans of boxing, well tht tells u all abt their fanbase, fukin losers.

  • banda106 I thought I already told you to stick a dick in your mouth already! I heard you can deepthroat! That true?

  • no but ur sis does it pretty good, bitch shud get into porno, how did ur pillow fight go?

  • i voted for obama..but im sure mccain would kick your ass on a IQ test given your spelling ablity..and he would actually kick your ass i bet as well.

  • "The most successful MMA fighters are well versed in every aspect and martial art,"

What? Every martial art? Do you know how many there are in the world?

  • Trolling doesn't help your position.

  • Never Back Down is your favorite movie ever, yes?

  • "boxing is a silly agreement: Let's fight, but we can only use our fists."

How dare those sports have rules! I demand someone be killed!

"MMA fighters are more well rounded and is truly the sport of fighting."

Bullshit. Pure bullshit. They can't punch worth a damn, their kicks (kickboxers aside) aren't much better, and they rely almost entirely on undisciplined brawling and boring ground defense.

  • They don't turn MMA because they have no need or desire to. There's more money and fame to be had in boxing, and some people really aren't interested in mixed martial arts to being with.

  • it is easier for a boxer to learn MMA, then a MMA star to learn Boxing.

  • Curtis steven is a good friend of mines and yes your right he is going to MMA and also andera darrell

  • Punching is fighting. What's the disconnect here? Just because someone says it isn't doesn't make that so.

  • Maybe a MMA fighter is more complete, but when i see fights, i like to see the fighters go toe to toe, not rolling around the ground like little girls, hitting someone while is down is for cowards.

  • lmfao!! mma is toe to toe retard, and i wouldnt call it cowardly to hit a man while he's down after you've worked hard to get him to the ground. why not watch an mma event? maybe you'll learn somethin :)

  • I have watched MMA, it is alwayas boring to see 2 men in the missionary position for 3 min.

  • its always boring to watch 2 men exchange love taps and hug each other for the majority of the rounds.

  • I agree with you, but at leats they are always hitting, i'd like to see you taking some of those "love taps"

  • ok i'm not gonna lie, with their strength they could k.o me with minimal effort. i just wish they would hug less and swing more. but like i said with the strength they possess i guess leavin themselves open with more power punches is a risk they aren't willing to take.

  • I agree with you,(again) i watch both sports, but the fight standing up is what i like the most, no matter if it is punching, kicking, hitting with elbows and knees,

  • i'll drink to that sir, nothing beats a good right hook k.o if u ask me

  • Practice Jiu Jitsu for a week and you will grow to appreciate the sweet science of the ground game. Nothing cowardly about it. Try it.

  • I totally agree with Jiluilo! I like to see fighters go toe to toe not two dudes rolling around on the ground having sex with each other! LOL!

  • i guess fags lyk 2 see evrything colored by fag shit, boxing is 2 dudes standing there punching each other for 12 rounds and calling it sweet science, i say bullshit, it's one limited aspect of fighting, and no one in their sane mind would fight like that in a real fight unless u happen 2 b a boxing nuthugger.

  • I know who this banda106 guy is. He trains in MMA and he loves going to the ground and sucking A LOT of cock! He loves cock in his mouth!

  • good comebak shitbag (NOT!!)

now go wear pillows on ur hands and join in a pillow fight wid ur fellow boxers, and call it the sweet science.

wat i do luv is ur sisters mouth around my dick, and a broomstick up ur arse to make u dance lyk a gay peacock in the rain, but then again u wud prob luv it as u seem 2 b obsessed wid seeing faggotry in evrything.

  • MMA owns boxing, boxing is the sport of punching while MMA is the sport of FIGHTING. Boxers bob and weave and it works in a boxing ring, but not in real life. You'd get kicked in the head and knocked out. MMA rules.

  • Punching someone until you knock them out IS fighting. Jesus, do you MMA guys get this talking point shit from the same website or something?

  • If boxers are better atheletes then I'd like to see those boxers in MMA.

I don't want to see if a boxer can beat another boxer with huge gloves on. I want to see them fight with small gloves, MMA rules, grappling etc.

  • what are you talking about

-they aren't apples and orenges, they're both fighting styles.

-Mik tyson would get murdered in a streetfight against the majority off mma fighters. He doesn't know ANY takedown defence.

  • You guys need to understand that alot of the best boxing coaches in the world are starting to move over to MMA. Boxing is a huge PART OF MMA. I wish the Anderson Silva vs Roy Jones Jr boxing match happens.

Rickson Gracie would have beat the shit out of "Tyson in his prime" Fedor? come on! Tyson wouldn't have had a chance in hell!

  • I think both mma and boxing should unite and kill football.

  • LOL boxing nor MMA could kill football thats imposible...... WHAT A JOKE

  • not yet.... but ouside of America UFC IS 100% more popular than NFL

  • yea because NFL aint an national sport but in america UFC wont be the NBA or NFL

  • outside of america boxing is way more famous than mma no question.

  • MMA is way more popular worldwide. Look at the numbers. Japan gets 90,000 people for mma. Sambo is the national sport of Russia. Brazilians live for it. China has a city named Wushu City. (Which means Kung Fu) Its an entire city devoted to teaching the art of Kung Fu . Muay Thai is the national sport of Thailand. Your funny man. You just say stuff without checking the facts. In reality MMA is already far more popular than boxing worldwide.

  • dude, your just naming different types of martial arts, NOT MMA! in japan and brazil mma is extremely famous that's where the sport was created. you can make the same argument for boxing, in Mexico boxing is extremely famous, Cuba it's all boxing, Russia Olympic boxing is the also famous, Thailand, philippines, Korea, Germany, boxing is also famous etc. How can you even make that argument when they don't even televise mma in 65% of the world, they just barely started televising it in Mexico.

  • Sorry man, but until someone comes along and does something to save boxing. Its a dying sport. Why would anyone want to watch something so limited when you can watch a true fight. MMA is on the way up, Boxing is on the way out. Just look at the numbers. In Asia, Russia, Canada, America and Brazil there's really no argument. With time more and more boxer's will see the light and step up. You can thank the likes of Don King and the rest of the money hungry promoters for paralyzing the sport.

  • what in the hell do you mean it's a dying sport? boxing is the same as it was 30 years ago. the only difference is that the sport is so corrupt, and there's too many champions and weight classes. but now there's a sport where there's only one champion per weight class, and most of the fighters are white. but in reality because boxing is a sport for the poor, and is ruled by minorities. mma is mostly fighters of Anglo white decent. who would never make it in boxing. other than Anderson Silva.

  • What the? Ken shamrock? I know a guy who trained under him! Didn't think he was so well known.

  • I like MMA better, but I do wish they would do more boxing / Kickboxing.

  • mma is not hurting boxing. and you cant measure up the two because they arent the same. I am more of a boxing fan that has watched some mma fights and i for one find their fighters far too slow and lazy. now as far as the tranfer of boxer to mma fighter KIMBO is a prime example before mma he strictly threw hands and thats how he won and what made him famous(not hugging lol) and its obvious that any of big name heavyweights will demolish him(tyson, lewis, fraizer, aliso just imagine if theyturned

  • Hi. I'm not slamming MMA/UFC, but you are absolutely right. The strikers are too slow, not pinpoint accurate enough, and don't hit hard enough to KO their opponents. If the boxers in MMA/UFC were put in the ring with the high profile boxers, they'd lose in a heartbeat.

It may be, but UFC/MAA are BIG FISH in a small pond. I just wish Bruce Lee and the late Mas Oyama was around to compete.

  • You need to watch the fight science of MMA clips. MMA out powered everything. Also about the accuracy, Anderson Silva hit 100% in his fight against Chris Lebon, Granted it wasn't too long of a fight, but still. You obviously do not know anything about MMA.

  • And most of the viewing audience of MMA don't know anything about a real striker versus one who procured a blackbelt the easy way. Theres alot more to it than mere accuracy.

  • What the hell are you talking about the easy way? The facts are simple, in a REAL fight, as in the two got into a fight somewhere outside a ring, the MMA fighter would demolish the boxer. IN A FIGHT! Not a match. In reality it doesn't matter the dicipline but the ability of the individual fighter, thats MMA's philosophy! Yes a boxer could beat a mixed martial artist but more than likely he would not. I know it's a lot more than accuracy, just like there is more to fighting then mere punching.

  • however, if a boxer were to fight some random street fighter or a guy that didn't know how to fight on the ground, he would probably dominate. boxing works man. that's why mixed martial artists use it. Boxing is a part of mma. No matter how different the two sports are. i myself am a fan of both. :))

  • both styles work. mma isn't complete without boxing. but a real fighter isn't complete if he doesn't have all the skills required to win in a real fight. you can't be a complete fighter if you only prepare to fight standing up. the thing with only preparing by training in only one martial art is that you're only really hoping that the fight goes the way you want it to go. in a real fight between an excellent boxer and an excellent mixed martial artist, i say mma would win. however...

  • MMA,UFC. can suck BOXING'S DICK.. because there is more skill and art involved in boxing. than there will ever be in mma..

    BOXING IS THE BETTER SPORT!!

  • these guys are bias idiots!

the real question is not who would win in eachothers sport, but who whould win in a REAL fight! if you are in a street fight who will win? MMA fighter will win every time!

sorry boxing,.... fedor, kimbo, chuck liddel, randy cotour, who kill mike tyson!!

boxing fans will always say you cant compare the two because they envy MMA's realness.

im a fan of fighting, not punching w/ pillows on my hand, this is why i am a MMA fighter, not a boxing geek

  • its still an opinionated thing of witch you like more. but clearly mma/ufc is taking the popularity vote and is winning. like they said. its the today and future of fighting. boxing rip =P

  • tratitional martial art(including kung fu) has been around for thousands of years, that's mean it work in real fight.

  • that's the thing.. boxing is a sport.. mma is actual fighting.. maybe none of yall ever got into a real fight have you?

boxer fans know they can't win.. that's why its a sport.... we know that.. and we know.. they get their ass kick in a real fight...

  • duuuuuhhhh! mma isn't actual fighting, real fights happen on the streets.

boxing and mma are both combat sports.

    one more thing...

ever wondered why boxing has been around for centuries?

coz it fuckin works in a real fight!

  • BJJ alone would alone beat boxing. The Gracies proved that along time ago. Look at todays military they use jujitsu for close combat because it works. Gracie jujitsu practically owned every style of fighting.

  • Martial arts borrows the most effective techniques from each martial art...that is why a boxer would not be able to stand in the octagon with an MMA figher! He would fall to the kicks alone!

MMA has already overtaken boxing in popularity and PPV sales. I am a fan of boxing too but boxing is rigged, there are no really good exciting fighters. The best boxers today don't like to get hit... poor guys

  • I already see your lack of knowledge. PPV sales of De La Hoya vs. Mayweather, Tyson vs. Holyfield generated more money than MMA will over the course of the next two centuries, fool! MMA is for those that don't have the guts or skill to make it in boxing as they resort to floor-rubbing, chumpy swinging, and cock-fighting techniques that are outright laughable at best. Get a life.

  • You're a fucking idiot

  • Uh, not I'm not an idiot. The proof being, I am not related to you.

  • Good one, you sure showed me.

  • boxers can't even win in k-1 k-1 has struggled in mma enough said. just watching botha getting knocked out by a nobody k-1 fighter makes me laugh cause botha was affraid of leg kicks

  • Mike tyson is a MMA fan BTW

  • He talks like a brainless cunt donna boy

  • no more boxing

  • Just for the record submissions do more than just cause pain. They can snap bones and tear muscles with little effort. And a choke cuts off blood. That means your unconscious in 4-10 seconds. A heel hook actually doesnt hurt much until it's too late. When you get caught in a heel hook you should tap immediately. Unless you want your knee and shin bone being shredded and poking through the bone and whatnot.

  • this is stupid topic, boxing is a part of mma, randy couture trains in boxing, he out boxed liddell in there first fight, boxing is a good ool to know when you go for a knock out. i"m a wrestler,i was ranked number # 3 in sacramento, its all about the fighter and how he uses what he knows. imagin geting hit by tyson with four once gloves you would get killed.

  • Unfortunatly, there are a lot of idiots on both sides that refuse to accept this logic.

  • exactly, the vast majority of striking in mma is eiter the techniques of Boxing or muay thai and muay thai and boxing are pretty much identical IF you only allow striking by punches and no clinching. the rest ofmuay thai striking is just extra but the basic foundation template for muay thai is boxing basically. so when people say an mma fighter will lose to a boxer, it makes little sense to me.

  • after you stress that muscle for a few minutes, it gets all tight and you cant do anything

  • you just cant compare the two sports, mma is a mess, they may be allowed to do more moves and what not but a boxer is way more agile, way more fit (hence being able to fight 12 rounds), has technique and way faster

MMA guys do lots of weights right, lots of heavy weights, those kind of muscles get worn out after a few rounds because they're not made for that, they're made for short bursts of energy, they are a lot stronger but for lifting and that type of thing,

  • about the whole speed thing: if you put any middlewieght boxer against anderson silva and not an mma fight just allow kicks and lets see if they can see his legs coming

  • Ahh the conditioning argument. Please educate yourself on an MMA fighter's training regimen and what goes on in that ring/cage. 15+ minutes is alot when you're trying to muscle another high calibur athelete around while eating knees to the body and stuff like that. Look at Sean Sherk, Georges st. Pierre and countless other fighters if you want to see top physical specimens in MMA.

  • 3:18 "the minute the boxer is grabbed in submission" - dude, no mma guy will get close to a real boxer of the same weight without getting knocked out as soon as he makes the smallest attempt to get near him, wherever the mma guy gets hit he will feel like he got hit by a train, simply because of the technique they use to punch,

  • dude chuck liddell is a puncher and he does a lot of takedown defence training and a lot because your punches are useless if you get out wrestled and he knows that.

  • Wow that statement shows no knowledge of MMA. You can close the distance using the clinch. If a boxer can clinch in a boxing match then an MMA fighter can do the same and actually know what to do with it, knees are brutal. An MMA fighter (or kickboxer) can stay out and use kicks as well. From what I've seen in the past, boxers dont like to be kicked at all. they arent prepared for it. Taking a boxer down would be easy. Hell all that fancy boxing technique actually makes it free.

  • Which fights are you talking about? The ones where those random nobodies fight or real boxers?

  • Dude. You're a moron with no common sense or knowledge of combat if you think a boxer could beat an MMA fighter or kickboxer. Theres a reason why the US military uses brazilian jiu-jitsu. The person who can punch, kick, grapple and know how to counter all of it obviously has a huge advantage over somebody who trains for such a restricted sport. I dont hate boxing, but I hate people who are biased and have no common sense.

  • In reality, there is NO such thing as Boxing Vs MMA because Boxing is "part" of MMA. It's considered a martial art just like Kickboxing, Wrestling, Judo...etc and MMA stands for Mixed Martial Arts, it's that simple. Unfortunatly dumb loyalists in both fanbases and the sports media hyping this are making it difficult to reach any common sense on this subject.

  • If chuck liddel had boxing skill he would be a better fighter. Any MMA fighter that is a striker will benefit from boxing. Boxing is efficient striking, thats why its called sweet science. You dont get more efficient striking than boxing.

  • Muay thai is much more efficient. Alot of boxing skills could lose you an mma fight. Then again so could alot of muay thai moves. Thats why your striking skills should be designed specifically for mma not taken from a specific style. duck a punch with ur boxing skills and ur KOed by a knee. Use that boxing stance and be taken down with ease.. its only a science of itself not of fighting.

  • "hey never advertise guys who just wrestle or grapple." UFC never advertises grappling they sell the product on punching...you guys think cause they can knock each other out with punches noe u think that they can beat boxers with the hands only. I know i know you will say you nefver said that but we all know that thats the conitation its selling.

  • I AGREE WITH THESE guys they at least are fair.......mma all the way

  • To the guy on the left, you are a gimp mate, "and if someone pulls a knife or gun" haha.

Ps: What is it like to still be a virgin at your age?

  • lol trfcdan86, gimp?? you play anarchy online or something?

  • A better analogy would be who would win between a Whale and an Elephant...the bottome line is it depends on the venue.

  • When MMa makes PPV they use guys who can crack THEY never advertise guys who just wrestle or grapple. MMA sells itself on punches but uses grappling as an excape when compared to boxing. Open ur eys peoples. MMA is fun but its a poor mans sport. Boxing is a sport of kings and higher class. Thats why they get the big bucks.....what u gonna do now huh?

  • When MMa makes PPV they use guys who can crack hey never advertise guys who just wrestle or grapple. MMA sells itself on punches but uses grappling as an excape when compared to boxing. Open ur eys peoples. MMA is fun but its a poor mans sport. Boxing is a sport of kings and higher class. Thats why they get the big bucks.....what u gonna do now huh?

  • "hey never advertise guys who just wrestle or grapple."

You mean like Tito Ortiz, Matt Hughes, Randy Couture, Matt Serra, Fedor Emilianenko, Gabe Gonzaga, Dan Henderson or Sean Sherk? All those guys are mainly graplers and all have been heavily advertised. You clearly don't have the slightest fucking clue of what you're talking about. I suggest you get informed before spouting off if you don't want to look like a total ass. Just some advice there, kiddo.

  • "Why not get your best strikers to go against the boxer and see what really happens."

Do a research for "Boxing vs Muay Thai" and you'll see EXACTLY what happens when a good MMA striker faces a boxer: the boxers gets FUBAR'ed.

  • OMG that boxing vs muay thai video is HALARIOUS!!!! That boxer didn't even have a leg to stand on!!!! Hahahahahah!!!!! OH please bring any boxer without any MMA knowledge into the ring... that is exactly how it would look!!!!! LMFAO!!!!!

  • o you MMA guys need to get some original stuff. The only thing MMA will swallow is nut hair cuz its not boxing. Boxing is alive and well all over the world. Most of you MMA guys did not like boxing in the 1st place so you dont see the art in it. Anyone one can do MMA not anyone can box.

  • Looks like you've swallowed some lead paint as a child because your reasoning sucks. Boxing is slowly becoming extinct.

"Most of you MMA guys did not like boxing in the 1st place so you dont see the art in it."

Wrong. Most MMA fans like the sport of boxing they just don't like the politics and the bullshit of boxing.

"Anyone one can do MMA not anyone can box."

Go into an MMA studio and say this. I dare you.

  • Damn you MMA guys are full of it. All i ever here is taking down the boxer but the reason you even watch MMA is for the strikers. Why not get your best strikers to go against the boxer and see what really happens. Cut the crap already. MMA is gaining popularity because of its strikers not those damn grapplers thats why they change the rules cuz its boring to watch 2 guys on the floor hugging.

  • Umm, Wrong. I do not watch MMA just for the striking. I watch for the FIGHTING as a whole: striking (which also includes kicks, knees, and elbows, all of which are not allowed in boxing) but also the BJJ, the wrestling, Grappling and Muay Thai. You obviously are extremely ignorant when it comes to fighting. MMA is gaining popularity because boxing is boring as fuck to watch.

  • kom, on your comment about a boxer beating a mma guy but out boxing him and advoiding the takedown means the boxer need to cross train with something else like wrestling or jj which is mixing different arts...or mixed martial arts

  • How on earth would a boxer avoid the takedowns? You have to have actual take down defense. Boxers don't have that. A wrestler or grappler would take down a boxer with ease and then either sub him(since boxers have no submission defense) or GnP him to a victory.

I like boxing. But it is only one (very limited aspect of fighting.

  • Boxing is corrupt and totally disorganized unless Boxing cleans up and their sport they will continue to get beat by MMA, Boxing has been around for 100+ years MMA has been around for maybe 10+ years give it a some time MMA will swallow up all combat sports in the years to come

  • i use to be a boxer fight record 12-1-10. now i am an mma fighter. i will kill any boxer in a fight. even iron mike tyson. in the ring he would beat me, no doubt about it. i would beat him in an mma fight. but if we fought on the street or any where else. I WOULD LITERALY KILL HIM. so no more bitch talking about boxers being better fighters. they are better boxers not better fighters.

  • first things first, you guys were not the right guys to even comment on this subject since u know almost nothing about MMA. Second, Mike Tyson is good but you guys think he is a god. Almost any UFC fighter or MMA fighter would beat him in a Streetfight or a MMA fight. Put them in a boxing ring though and Mike Tyson dominates. Both sports are challenging and have their ups and downs but they are two different sports and should be treated as such

  • Goddamn, this boxing vs. MMA thing is NOT complicated. If you were to take the best of both disciplines and put them in a MMA-rules match, OBVIOUSLY the MMA would MOST LIKELY win, not win for sure. Why? What if the boxer, well, OUT-BOXES HIM? He just has to be able to avoid takedowns and clinches. OBVIOUSLY, that would be hard to do but the boxer still has a (small) chance. If you were to go into a streefight, therefore, it would be better to train in MMA.

  • Both sports are hard though. Boxing is not easier just because they train in less aspects of fighting. The practitioners of both sports train hard and take beatings. Both are tiring as shit too. Even grappling drains your stamina.

  • These guys are retards. Especially the hick at the far end.

  • WOW...Everybody is clinging to boxings nuts in this room. Boxing is an aspect of MMA. Jui jitsu is an aspect of MMA. Boxing is a great sport. MMA is crushing it right now though and if a boxer wants to step in the cage they can. Fighters are not all boxers, but all boxers are fighters.

  • Again the old topic. sports are sports. real fights are unpredictable.

  • Unpredictable sure. But it's safe to say that an MMA fighter has a higher chance of beating a boxer outside of his beloved ring.

  • Guys MMA is for kids, my little 11 years old son loves it, I just don't see many adults loving the sport, kids love WWE, MMA and UFC. All I can say is if you have a son over 20 watching MMA or UFC, it's time to disown them. I recommend all adults over 20 should stop watching MMA or UFC. :)

  • Yeah! A lot of people think bingo's fun too. You boring schmuck.

  • At the end of the day Boxing has been around for 100 years and MMA's been big for 18 months and people suddenly want to jump the bandwaggon. Im tired of watching these spandex wearing bycle shorts fights on TV. I was watching MMA and my mom walked in and she looked at me all funny. Like I was watching gay porn or something.

  • Basically boxing is better because thats what it focuses on. Not worrying about someone kicking or pulling hair...just hands. That makes people want to fight more when they don't have to worry about a bunch of other silly things...that everyone swears up and down would work in a real fight. If you try and put me in a triangle your ass is getting stabbed its as simple as that.

  • I totally agree with your point about the ten point must system. MMA should get it's own scoring system.

  • Just think about Tyson with 4 ounce UFC hand pads against anyone? OMG that would be instant death.

  • Royce Gracie offered Mike a million dollar challenge 14 years ago and Tyson backed down. And you what...Royce would have won.

  • Why do so many people think they must like one sport, and only bash the other? People on both sides are guilty of doing that and it is such a waste of time. Combat athletes should try to work together to get more universal respect, rather than have a never-ending pointless arguement with each other.

  • People keep calling MMA a real fight. Obviously they've never seen a real fight. In a real fight someone doesn't try and put you in a finger bar while rubbing their nuts on your shoulder. Boxing is better...and its that simple...I'm just really tired of wasting time with you people...

  • ya your 2 pillows hands is what you call fighting hahahah

  • lol, that may be the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

  • Who cares if boxers just use their hands? MMA fighters will hump each other on the ground for about five minutes before anyone does anything. Boxing shows more heart and the fights are more interesting. If I wanted to see a real street fight...I'd go on the streets and see one. However, I want to see a test of will...and boxing is that ultimate test.

  • Boxing is better...its that simple.

  • boxing better?? boxing is 1 form of martial arts.. MMA combines all aspects of martial arts.. MMA is a complete fight.. boxing is just using your hands.. dont reply to something with a lazy answer by saying "Boxing is better.... its that simple."

  • knnow some boxers who i have invited to train with me now there very knowlageable with the hands yes welluntill u thow in elbows knees leg checks round kicksback fist they tend to get sacred prettyeasily not to mention that they were consideralybigger and stronger then i was so why were they afraid simplemore tools in the mma toolbox and even when i boxed with the boxers i kept up very well against a golden glove

  • Yeah, this comment sounds so official. I'm sure all of this is very true. However, why don't we create a sport that includes football, basketball, and soccer! Yeah, thats it! How about NO! You know why because that would be incredibly boring! Why? Because they take away from the other one's art! They all involve getting a ball to a certain place. But if put together they would be stupid! Get my point?

  • well u whoulda thought about strikein more with ken shamrok he has hammer for fist and some killer kicking ability so i dont believe tyson would win trust me there are reasons why boxers would never step in the same gym as mma fighters i myself participate in mma and

  • You guys did a great job of being objective and honest here. As an MMA fan, it's very refreshing to hear a Boxing fan actually talk about this subject in a reasonable manner.

    Good job.

  • You know who would really win a real fight? The person with the weapon! Therefore neither one is real fighting. It is for pure entertainment value! Boxing is more entertaining! They show more heart in the ring. When someone is stunned in boxing they have to bring themselve's back. In MMA someone is stunned fight is over. Yeah that's so real.

  • For all you boxing fans living in lala land, watch the video "Boxing vs. Muai Thai". You'll see how usefull boxing skills are against someone that's not so limited. Keep in mind while you're watching the video, that fight was still limited. No ground fighting and no grappling. I imagin how bad the boxer would have lost in an MMA match.

  • I have no faith in any 'X' vs 'Y' videos here. Whopee, a crappy boxer loses to a crappy Muay thai guy. Nothing is difinitive unless the masters of each craft come together. The gap between amazing and garbage boxers is much larger than in Muay thai. Especially if the boxer would go into official UFC (suggesting the fighter properly learned takedown/kick defence in addition to boxing).

  • These hicks are nuts. A sorry MMA fighter would still beat a boxer withing the first minute in the octagon. I bet there are a few MMA fighters that would make it for a few rounds in boxing. Tyson is not god. Even a prime Tyson would lose against say Nogueira.

  • When MMA fighter start making $20 million per fight, wake me up.

  • boxing is over

  • I recently watched a VS. network presentation on Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini. His striking in both speed and, force was phenomenal! The crowd thought so as well. If Boxing is losing, it's because the boxing promoters and, other people aren't promoting it well enough.

I also think that boxing can be applied to a real life fight! One may also need to train against take downs and, kicks, but good punching, with movement will give a boxer a great chance at proper self-defense.

  • dude.. no boxer could take on shogun rua or fedor emelialenko in a real full contact fight.. they are the real deal of mma fighters..

  • They also both have no idea how to throw a punch.

  • Boxers would win at boxing. MMA would win in MMA. The only difference is MMA would win on the streets too.

  • FEDOR EMLIANENKO would Whoooooppppppppp tyson. Look him up, he is the real deal.

  • yea but hell whop anybody lol

  • a boxer wouldnt know what to do if a mma fighter throw a kick or took him down it doesnt even have to be a mma fight muay thai vs boxing the boxer wouldnt even win the boxer just doesnt no what to do even tyson would get his ass beat

  • wwe is not like mma or pro boxing mma would beat down a pro boxer in a stree fight why becasue they mma guy would throw kicks and punches

  • Boxing Vs MMA does NOT exist, boxing is a martial art (its called Western Martial Art in asia) therefore it makes it part of MMA. The Boxing vs MMA feud was made to gain mainstream attention.

  • And give people high blood pressure from blowing gaskets.

  • its more like comparing football to rugby...both are rough but one can be brutal

  • One has pads, the other doesn't.

  • no no. Like rugby to soccer.

  • It's like comparing basketball against soccer. Both use round balls but with different set of rules.

  • it's all a matter of natural ability, a boxer who is just plain n simply a natural athlete could do good at mma if he devoted his time to learning everything else he's lacking

  • Renzo vs Frank Shamrock is like a boxer winning by a kick or a submission. Many times Renzo was in position to knee Frank in the fight but he didn't because of the rules...

  • You think these guys can't take a punch? you act like they'd have their jaws broken by a weak tyson jab. These guy's aren't stupid either, you think theyd try to box him, hell no they'd have his ass on the ground faster than he could say " I want to eat his children."

  • Are you referring to an MMA fight when you say streetfight? I'm assuming you are when you say "No one could beat Mike Tyson in his prime in a streetfight." Wow, now I know you're not very educated on MMA but it takes some balls to say something like that. Fedor Emelianenko anyone? He's 26-1, his only loss coming to a BS cut stoppage. He's faced all of the top heavyweights in what is thought to be the most talented MMA organization, pride, which is now part of Zuffa, who owns UFC.

  • True Boxing fans know where its at.. we could care less if people like UFC..

  • No, that's not like " Putting a Karate fighter against an MMA fighter ", because Karate is, to put it lightly, horseshit. It's just the truth. Most great boxers hands' are lethal weapons, so it's stupid to even compare boxing with Karate. And anything can happen in a street fight.

  • Tyson would kill all in a street fight.

  • And most of the time, boxing crowds have no energy. In MMA crowds, they have energy.

I like both boxing and MMA, but MMA is safer than boxing.

I rather pay $40 bucks to watch a quality full MMA fight card than to spend $55 on one boxing fight like the Oscar De La Hoya-Floyd Mayweather fight.

  • dont' spend it on a live ufc fight, i've done that twice and the octagon looks good on tv but live there are no good angles at the fight action even ringside ur limited

  • fedor has lost once but got the revenge in the rematch

  • Just Mark these words..Boxing will fad..MMA will take over in the next few years..more draws more PPVs and more excitment period. That is where the money will be! Buy stock now !

  • its simple and you dont have to type a paragraph to get the point across.you take a boxer and put him in the octagon with a mma fighter, 9 times out of 10 the mma fight will beat him.

you take a mma fighter and put them in the ring with a boxer 9 times out of 10 the boxer will beat him.

both sports are similar but are very different and should not really be compared with each other.

  • Im sick of seeing this fucking arguement. Boxers don't train in takedowns and submissions so who do you think will win? Of course a person training in MMA is going to win. They train in multiple disciplines. But boxers are more refined punchers. It would be more fair of an arguement to see an MMA step into a boxing ring since boxing is a facet of MMA. To me, MMA is a cluster fuck of fighting styles and I don't always think the best fighter always wins.

  • its still a matter of opinion neither is better than either i prefer boxing many others prefer mma
