@greenmachine1201 you shouldn't flex when taking the measurements. I will flex so my wife can feel where the muscle is but then I relax so she can take the measurement. You don't want to be grabbing muscle in the caliper...
can som1 answer me ? , can i use calipers to see my bodyfat ? , i mean because iv lost about 50lbs and i have loose skin , can i still do it or will it be inaccurate because of my loose skin ?
@almir185 My wife has loose skin too and yeah, that can affect the reading. I would try measuring in a different spot. If you go to the link in the description of the video, they list out all kinds of different ways to measure it. Congrats on losing the 50 lbs!
@SymbioticFitness i´m going to try it , thanks man ! , i even did a tranformation video on it , if you want to check it out it on my other channel " going4X6pack "
@bigdaddy71355 thanks man - appreciate the feedback. Yeah, it's crazy.. I've never had my bodyfat this low before.. didn't know what my abs looked like until now! :)
alright. im 15 5'6 and im weighing 113 for wrestling season, im not super skinny and what not but im lean you know? Do you have a estimate of what my body fat should be becuase i have my hydration test tomoorw and im finding my weight and body fat percentage, what should my body fat percentage be? Thanks
@TheOZBehindCurtain Your goal is definitely doable but it all depends on how much of a calorie deficit you create through exercise and calorie restriction.
i that scar there because you got your apendix taken out? lol i notice so many weird things and its sometimes a good thing and sometimes its a hoorible thing lol
Just curious, how much skin do you grab to take the measurement? Do you grab several inches before you measure? 2-3? 3-4? I am 6'4" 247lbs. I just entered week 4 of P90x. I have lost 7.5lbs according to the scale, but I haven't been measuring body fat. I just want to make sure I am doing it accurately. Thanks! Great Stuff!
@quickce we usually grab about 2-3 inches (closer to 2) of skin. You can also see in the video how much my wife is grabbing. The key is to be consistent each time. It's a little weird at first but over time, you'll get better at it. We measure each location 3x and then take the average reading. Congrats on losing the 7.5 lbs so far.. keep it up!
is there a way to calculate with out a fat caliber? I learned in health class back in 10th grade called the "pinch test"? idk? maybe you can use reg measuring tape (measuring around your hips, for all im trying to do is gain abs and muscle) or just pinch every week and watch as the pounds shred off? id appreciate the feed back. and chck out my day 1 p90x vid to get a better idea of my body type.
For some reason the site doesnt work correctly. I input the proper measurements into the method 4 just like in the video and whenever I click Calculate the results come out as undefined.
@lionheart1827 I just tried it and it worked. Are you entering your age and weight too? Make sure not to use decimals. Just enter whole #s like 11, 4, 10, 14
@SymbioticFitness Yeah I got it now. When I load the site up, its already selected on pounds, but in order for it to work for me, I have to press pounds anyway. Weird, but I got it now. Thanks!
Actually, the BIA's can be useful, especially the Omron BIA, depending on how much physical movement, time of day, and how much water you have drank, etc.. If you can't get a reading on someone who is very large, the BIA is very useful, but should be measured about 3-4 times day at the same time as well. Don't knock the BIA's dude!
@badazzboxer I have an Omron and have used it for about 2 years... I think your comments describe exactly why they are inaccurate. There are so many variables that throw them off. Even by minimizing all the variables, It still over-estimates by 8-12 % over what fat calipers show. I appreciate your comments though!
@SymbioticFitness there still okay, and I also appreciate your video, as I am currently teaching myself to use a caliper, because they are the better of the two, nonetheless! Thanks!
can i buy the fat caliber at walmart or a local strore?

So when you take your measurement above your hipbone, do you flex your abs to get a better pinch of skin or don't flex at all? Or does it matter?

@TheMattboi Bodyfat in the teens (13-19%) would be great.. anything less than that means you're very lean.
