  • Check out Ben Goldacre's Guardian piece on Lucia de Berk, a dutch nurse wrongfully convicted of seven murders with 'statistics'. The Texas-sharpshooter fallacy (aka the clustering illusion).and nonsensical maths from statistical 'experts' lile Henk Elffers being the culprits in this case (badscience [dot] net).

Quoting Benjamin Disraeli (former British Prime Minister): "There are three types of lies: lies, damned lies and statistics".

  • @shangrigreige An intelligent, and informative comment, without any childish insults? What's YT coming to? :-))

  • 5/5 of all people like this video.

  • @Misterb0z - Yeah? I heard on Fox News that it was 6/5. So, what are you, some kind of commie?!

  • Well, throw them a bone if you wish :-) But be careful, cos you're one of the people who's statistics I generally believe // Funny thing with Cough - Great on atheism, and racism - crap on rape. Then you get someone like ZomGitChris, who's a brilliant atheist, but is also crap-sex positive. Or another person who's brilliant at bashing the creationists... but also a Zionist. Funny place YT - Maybe some statistical analysis would help?

  • @mickmle1 I guarantee you my statistics are always reliably sourced; I always make sure they're real. =) Also, yeah, I've noticed that too! Weird.

And yes, statistical analysis would DEFINITELY solve everything. XD

  • I have to say, I include statistics precisely BECAUSE a lot of people are like "GIVE ME EVIDENCE!" and that seems to satisfy them XD

On an off-topic note, I didn't know you followed Coughlan! I wasn't amused by those t-shirts either.
