The point is that this right here is a palpable example of uncanny evil. The stadium was largely empty apart from the "prime" seats where we were sat with all the foreigners (mostly Chinese, but also Westerners) paying 50 Euros each to get in. Most of the Korean spectators are presumably senior party members. Ordinary citizens don't get near the place. But we were not the only ones clapping - that is my camera's puny microphone. Everybody watching that show fully appreciated what they were seeing.

Amazing as always. The Mass Games are an amazing show of what humans can do. With all of the amazing synchronization and the results of the hard work for the group instead of the individual, the Mass Games really do a great job of representing the ideals of Communism.
I don't think America could ever put on a display like this because it doesn't have the same group mentality that North Korea has. Americans focus on the person, while North Korea focuses on the group instead of the person.

Orientals - Japanese, Koreans & Han Chinese are some of the most discipline people in the world. It probably has to do with the common roots they share in Confucianism & Buddhism. The prosperity of Oriental Asian countries like Japan, South Korea, Hong, Kong, Taiwan & Singapore plus the rapid rise of China says also about their shared values. It's a pity about North Korea... it has so much potential to be like the South if not for it's authoritarian dictator.

it is beautiful...but it makes me think, how many of those kids actually ENJOY doing that? It makes me think about how many of those kids were MADE to do that? it saddens me. to be MADE to do something, and practice long long hours for something you don't enjoy doing. oh well. It just begs to be said, no country is truly free, save Somalia. And even in that case, freedom is continuously infringed upon by others, thereby destroying that libertarian ideal everyone likes to believe exists. Nor do I think either the United States or Britain can make a claim for being freer than the other. Just degrees of freedom.

Juche isn't communism. Communism is based on where everyone is equal. The DPRK Juche Regime is based on the philosophy of "Up Yours, World!"... Basically it's saying we can do everything ourselves, so they neglect and isolate themselves from the rest of the world. Of course it's impractical, but it's quite different from communism.

I don't think your comment is warranted. The Chinese prepared for the Olympic games as a once in a lifetime opportunity. The Mass Games occur every year. They are a lot more limited in resources/technology.Don't be stupid.

Actually, China during the olympics opening mentioned that they see North Korea as a model for performing perfectly with coordination. Even though I'm Korean, this is coming from Chinese. I doubt the way I wrote is how they said it though.

please try not to be impressed by this. The only message conveyed by the Massive Games is that there is massive unemployment in N.Korea. Given the amount of mindless busy work that goes on there, it isn't amazing or spectacular. Just sad that so much effort is being wasted where so much is needed.
