It's amazing how this was the most sucessful season ever (ratings/popularity), yet SURVIVOR is so much more polished now. As a true fan I forgot how bad this season really was -- you just assume this was such a great season because of how huge SURVIOR was when this first aired. The only thing that holds up to date is Richard Hatch. Probst wasn't that great back then... along with the players.

I wanted to get them all on DVD but they only have Borneo, Australia, Pearl Islands, All Stars, Vanuatu, and Palau on dvd. I liked Fans vs Favorites, Africa and I really love the current season (Samoa.) I think Russell is the most deserving, but he's a threat so if the others are smart they'd get rid of him. I've actually liked every season but the only ones I wasn't too big on were Marquesas and Thailand. I liked the people in Palau but the season was boring.

When they replace him as host, the show will decline, and probably stop after 2 or 3 seasons.

Greg was a good guy on Survivor. Rich was smart enough to read how good Greg could be and had to get him out then. Sean's method of voting was hilarious throughout the game.

the realities behind this first series of SURVIVOR are this island actually not far away from main land of BORNEO island. You can reach on this island by boat in less than 30 minutes from the nearest jetty at Kuala Penyu.! There is one resort operating on this island with good food and facilities for tourist. I don't think what we saw in the series (they seems like 'very struggling to live' in this so called remote island) were 100 percent real. For me,they just shooting a series of drama.

just because they were on an island with a resort doesn't mean they had access to it. they are effectively stranded because they THINK they are stranded, and are not allowed to wander off. and of course its not 100% real, they make people repeat themselves a lot, so it looks better for camera, and they edit it heavily
