i actually think this song is about the female singer from becoming x; for some reason several songs on this album kind of sound like that to me. this is definitely the best sneaker pimps album.. becoming x was good, but this one has much more emotional dynamic and sophistication

@neontomx I agree. I think he was in love with her but didn't know how to proceed with his feelings. Even the name of his new band IAMX--is like "I am X" and Kelli sang lead vocals on Becoming X. So he's no longer becoming, he is X. Her ex?

No way. That's just plain wrong. If you read interviews he explicitly says that he hated Kelli for a long time and that he flat out kicked her out of the band because she demanded to help write the songs. Also there are rumors she was on a lot of drugs at the time and they were just sick of her. He hated her quite obviously.
