the thumbnail in the middle doesn't work anymore, i have uploaded the same video like 5 times but i keep extending the middle thumbnail longer and longer and it just refuses to take the thumb, it keeps taking it right after that image changes, even up to literally almost 3/4 the way through the video. frustrating!
Didn't work for me either... my latet video "Americans are Dumb?" is 142 seconds long and the first thumbnail was taken from the first few seconds of the movie. Weird. Maybe they've changed things.
i think the stills it picks are based on the overall collor of the videoand possibly attempts to avoid random still images to prevent rick rolls and stuff.
well i tested this out on my video, "winter longboarding edit" - verdict: doesn't work. my video is 4:07 long, meaning a thumbnail every 61.75 seconds; while each is Roughly at the minute mark, my first thumbnail is at 0:54, 2nd at 2:00, 3rd at 3:00 - by your calculation they Should have been 1:01, 2:03, 3:05. have they randomized it a bit now?
@askmefirst - something tells me that being some of the most subscribed youtube partners of all time probably comes with its benefits, as in maybe youtube staffers that screen uploads are favorable with the snaps. but honestly I tried this with 3 of my videos, theyve definitely randomized it because theyre never chosen exactly following this formula. usually several seconds off
hey i need your help please i know how to choose and change the thumbnail but there are no thumbnails that i can choose but my video is uploaded so i go to edit and their is just 3 gray video camra boxes can you help me?
1- Do you know if Sony Vegas has this feature (timecode)?
2- How to insert a picture exactly in the place you want? With a video editor (Sony Vegas ou Premiere) is it possible?
3- Actually we have to insert a new picture or replace the frame-target? I ask you this cause I think if we simply insert a new frame, the video length will change...
Glad to hear its helping. I find the easiest thing to do is make a version of your video with the timecode right in the center of your video and upload that first so you will know the exact frames that it pulls for thumbnails. Avid, After Effects, Premiere and FCP all have the insert timecode feature...

I can't find this feature on Sony Vegas 6.0. Is it there? (print timecode)

Hello, Overnite.
I am a beginner in video productions.
Let me check if I got what you did:
You uploaded a video with the same time and frames of another video you want to broadcast.
The uploaded video uses a feature called "timecode" that shows the progress of time and frames.
By seeing what number of frame YouTube catched to be the Thumbnail you now know what frame would be catched in the main video, right?

continuing...
If it is so, please:
1- Do you know if Sony Vegas has this feature (timecode)?
2- How to insert a picture exactly in the place you want? With a video editor (Sony Vegas ou Premiere) is it possible?
3- Actually we have to insert a new picture or replace the frame-target? I ask you this cause I think if we simply insert a new frame, the video length will change...
Thank you very much.

Well, I checked it out with an uploaded video, and by golly, you're right.
Now I'll be able to edit in the right poster frame on my next video. Thanks!
