A girl named Ashly Kingsworth was looking for down a well and a ghost pushed her down the well. now that you read this you must Copy and Paste to 2 Other Video's or else tonight at 12:00
she will stand at the end of you're bed and pull you down the well she died in.
Great message to kids. That's Jim Henson's genius right there, Rowlf continuing to play despite the mistakes while still showing moments of brilliance on the piano.
@bobbib21 Yeah. Except I think Jim was doing the head whil'st someone else did the hands....AND the song was probably pre-recorded since it would be too difficult to play with furry gloves on.
Here's a stupid question, lol. Can anyone tell me how to pronounce Rowlf? Haha. I know it's probably really obvious. Is it like Ralph? But....not? lol. I feel like a dumbass but I want to name my dog Rowlf and I don't want to say it wrong and then someone tell me it's pronounced a different way, haha. That'd be bad.
As a kid I learned to play the piano. And it is not allways funny to practise, practise, practise... Rowlf helped me to get over those times of doubt. Thank you Rowlf. I owe you something!
These Rowlf the dog segments were created as Fillers for the Canadian and UK runs of the Muppet show.
In the States when the show first aired The had 3 mins less program due to commercials so to fill those 3 mins The did these spots. Americans Only got to see these once the show went into syndicaton
OMG!!! Rowlf was the reason i took up piano lessons and "Fur (geddit...sorry) Elise" was the first piece of classical music I learnt to play.Has anybody got "Tit Willow" the duet that Rowlf recorded with Sam The Eagle? Still makes me smile thinking about it.
The genius of the muppets is that through a character like Rowlf Dog, Jim Henson was able to expose a beautiful piece of classical music to people who might otherwise never have cared to hear it.
It's wonderful how it's exactly synchronized with the music, and how his gestures (like looking up in the air at an "expressive" moment) are so classical pianist-like.
Why's the title of this video in French? The song's German.

yay rowlf and mozart!
wonder if he,the dude inside, actually plays the piano, would be kinda hard, dont think he can see that good...
anyway, yay
stinetroll 5 years ago
That was Jim Henson who "manipulated" Rowlf. No he didn't actually play the piano. Only Rowlfs Left hand is Jims the other hand is someone elses.
gonzogal019 4 years ago
Actually, when Rowlf played the piano, Jim did the head and voice while another puppeteer did both of his hands.
