  • Great job. This is actually a pretty simple maneuver with twin screws. Takes some practice but once you get it down it's pretty simple. Absolutely easy to do without the aide of thrusters. The only challenge is if there is a wind blowing from the dock out. Then you may have to throw out a bow line then pivot with this approach.

  • Very nice job i give you alot of respect and credit but try attempting such manuvers with single screw its not nearly as easy.

  • Nice side walk, good timing.

  • ...and you motors stall just as you approach head-on...whoops

  • give that man a cigar

  • That bow looks like it's never ever touched the dock - even though this manouever must have been done scores of times . The bow can't be more than 6 inches away from the woodwork before the turn starts

.... Sure, there no tidal stream and no wind to factor in - but even so this is mightily impressive boat handling. ....I am just in awe.

  • i want to see if engine stops what you do!

  • @dennyrs4 As long as one engine is ok, a hard reverse should stop the momentum.

  • Seems bigger than 45 foot

  • @kidthing1119 It is! 53 length over all. 45 at waterline.

  • Brilliant!!

  • wow thats lucky

  • im gonna have to call bull shit. i have a 1981 chris craft catalina 381 and just by using my shifters that wouldnt be east. and at the end how does the boat just snug up to the dock?

  • @pectamedi The forward momentum is still there, although the boat is side ways. A little port side reverse will pull the stern in.

  • fail

  • you sir won yourself a medal

  • Its not fake , he is a good helmsmann, it is a skill even with two engines, single screw would not be able to do it at such a big angle. Basic boat handling , using forward momentom , pivot point and transverse effect of port. engine in reverse to bring stern in /bow out /straighten boat. He knows his boat/engines and is very good at it. Dock potatoes cant see that.

  • hit the dock at :36

  • Next time show the wheelhouse and show us how you used the transmittions :D

  • Anyone know the name of this song in the video! Thanks

  • the music is from the Apple video free stuff I used it on my video it is a free tune on your Imac

  • Don't know what the big deal is as this is a very easy manuever.

  • outstanding!

  • Excellent docking. We are boaters so we know a good landing when we see one. Three cheers. :)

  • Hoffway1: Well done !!! you don't need bow thrusters if you have twin screws. I usually crew on boats where the captains use spring lines to accomplish this due to having only one screw...

  • wow very skillfull!

  • Dam that is the way you freakin do it!

  • Good job captain. One throttle forward one in reverse...sure can stop and turn fast.

  • i thought for sure you were comming in to fast but you got it, great job!

  • Awesome job, having more knowledgeable skippers such as yourself would make the dock a much safer and less stressful place to be. I think the new generation of skippers' motto is "When in doubt, more bow thruster." Great job at disproving that in this video, very smooth work.

  • wow.

  • Great job docking! Smooth simple....Just noting that this technique, as perfect as it does look, no I've seen other boaters do just as well docking. However, this looks like it was done on a calm day. Barely any wind and sea state is calm, otherwise it would be a much different docking technique.

  • That is a superb bit of boat handling.

  • That is a superb bit of boat handling.

  • That is a superb bit of boat handling.

  • That is a superb bit of boat handling.

  • Must of been trainined by Bob Meng of On Water Training for perfect dockings everytime

  • Easy....

  • Who the fuck cares??? You have two engines. If you had one outdrive that would've been impressive.

  • @HollaGeo Single outdrive would not stop a boat this size, and this guy could probably do this with a single engine , he would just come in at a 30degree angle instead of 45. Basic boat handling techniques of using forward momentom and transverse effect of a propeller ,executed perfectly.

  • Just to the East of 520 in Lake Union.

  • I love the people who think this is fake. Probably the same folks who cant back a trailer down or think thats theres brakes on a boat. Theres no reverse thrust like there would be if i were backing out so give the man some credit and trade in your. I love idiots :)

  • @Maxumized... I think someone is just a bit jealous.....

Capt, Awesome job. Looks like you might have done that a time or two :)

  • now thats how ya do it!!!!!!

  • Good job, truly good job

  • For a second i thought it would be a window knocker... but damn.. your a great skipper. Honestly congrats, you got a talent man.

    Mat

  • Idiot, why take such a huge risk to show off? You were inch's from scratching your boat to put it lightly.

  • @BulliesandHoodlums .No Risk, Even you could perform this maneuver ,using transits . My transits from the camera angle would be the Nav. Light on the bow and window frame in the building. At the beginning of the Video on the approach, line up the light on the building , as it lines up with the top of the window frame you need to be stopped, If the light is kept under the top of the frame you will never hit the dock, over the frame and you will hit it. Boat basics.Easy when you know how. Try it.

  • skilzz

  • No way this of course can be done with the right motor set up and driven probably easily dock like that with experience but must take into account the wind which there was little and side thrusters if any.

  • DRIVER +2 SCREWS WIN!

  • this is how you do it.

    Great job,nice manouvre,Exelent for 100%

  • good job

  • that is awesome!!!!

  • What kind of boat

  • If only that bowsprit were a few feet longer ;)

  • i think maxumized is right this is a fake, like he said good one.the water is wrong for what is happening ,got to look close though.good try

  • good skipper...

  • how can companies that supply devices for fossile burnin vehicles claim they care?

  • I agree. I don't care how good you are ,you can not judge less than one foot from the dock at that height and distance. That was 100% reverse that is just a fact of life my friends. You can tell just by looking at the water behind the boat how it is churning. Coasting in forward wouldn't be churning. That's the water getting pulled. But very funny.

  • @brettandbethy You could even do it . Look at the first part of the Vid. Transit is the black nav light on the bow. Line it up with the window frame, aproach the dock, if you keep the light under the top of the frame you will not hit the dock, if you go over that point you will hit it. Quite easy when you know how Try it.

  • Fake ! .

  • wow

  • is that schumacher of the boats??

  • Beautiful, you don't need a thruster, well done.

  • @LuvMyBoat1 He Cheated

  • two engines, you do'nt need side thrusters!!(that is if you know how to boat!!

  • Lol wow. You must of went though forward and reverse. and Spun the wheel a good 100 times. A+ Docking!

  • @joshtheman8 thats how i dock my boat use ur reverse

  • @joshtheman8 No need to touch the wheel just use engine controls..

    Very nice, Capt!!!

  • @joshtheman8 No need to touch the wheel just use engine controls..

    Very nice, Capt!!!

  • @joshtheman8 twin screws he docked the boat only using the throttle no rudder.

  • some skippers are just naturals. i skipper a 105 and any kind of wind loves to throw you around in that

  • Wow!!! somebody has a video just like yours showing how you did this.

  • Fake... This video is a reverse-play of the Captain pulling away from the dock stern first...Good Fake!

  • How could this be fake? Look at where the wave is created when you see the boat from the outside. Start watching at 0:58 seconds into the video! If he was going in reverse it would follow the bow... instead it follows the stern of the boat... meaning he's going forward!

    Great docking! :)

  • well spotted,i can see it

  • Doesnt look to be footage ran in reverse, the wake of the boat would have given it away if it were so.

  • Fake...this is a reverse play of boat reversing out of dock.

  • Fake!!! I nice Fake at that. This is a reverse footage of the Captain reversing from a docked position. Notice how there is no bow wake and irregular movement of the fenders just when they touch.

  • @Maxumized - Sorry, not a fake...PLUS it was done twice. this video was shot once from the bridge and again from the dock. If you notice in the first part there is not a person standing on the dock with the camera. AND, it is EXTREMELY difficult to "crab-out" a twin screw boat in reverse in one shot without pivoting the bow against the dock or backing into the boat behind you. This is one of the most basic docking maneuvers utilizing forward momentum to carry the boat into the dock.

  • @Maxumized Look behind him.

  • twin screw?

  • Indeed.

  • good shit. gotta love berthing with twin screws, oh so sexy.

  • twin screw

  • Nice Job, now try it in a 36'catalina, lol

  • this was a great parking... I am still having trouble with my 23'

  • thats y i love twin screws

  • Nicely done Capt.

  • those skills must be fun to show off

  • its not skills to show off its called twin screw

  • fantastico

  • fucks sake man.

  • First...amazing! Second may I ask what music that is playing in the background? It's great too! Kudos man!

  • Its one of the many choices of music built into Garage Band. Found only on Apple Computers.

  • *yawn* nicely done with no wind or current/tide.

  • Only Mac users are that chilled ;)

    Nice Video

  • how long did it take you to do that?? it took me THREE SEASONS to finally get that right!!!

  • awesome!!

  • Nice job! Practice makes perfect.I'll bet ur one of those guys that say's " Hell ya ,I can get my 30' boat in that31' slip!!!!"

  • nice job captian, practice makes perfect

  • Great job, the the only thing i see wrong with it is I don't see an anchor in the bow roller.

  • nice job what boat is it?

  • Bayliner 4588... it's in the description... but hell i just read it... and i never read it at all lol

  • i would never be able to dock like that

  • Amazing control!

  • DAMMMMMMIT I drive an 18 wheeler and couldnt DO THAT :D

    OUTSTANDING

  • You Captain Ronned that thing. I'll have a margarita. lol

  • You do know he had to rebuild that shack quite a few times before he got it right. JAJAJAJAJAJ Way to go!!!! That's piloting all right!!!

  • That was sooooo smooth! first time at that dock, eh?

  • Good thing that port engine didn't stahl !

  • very weak. bowthrusters are for noobs. There are boaters and then there are sailors.

  • jesus dude, your good, i have a 24 foot bayliner single screw and i cant even do that XD

  • incredible! way to go capt!

  • made it look easy

  • Oh that is good.

  • holy shit that was incredible!

  • wow.. very nice control.. *applause button*

  • Nice. As long as you don't lose a tranny at the wrong time and there is no wind or current to deal with. Kind of stupid really.

  • was this filmed in seattle

  • not bad at all

  • Wow! I guess you gotta have twin stern drives to pull that off (right?)...

  • WOW
