  • Oh, back in the days I played this for 8th grade. <3 Gave me chills the first time I listened to the professional recording.

  • I have the second clarinet solo part :P My high school is playing this

  • This is one of the few slow songs I enjoy playing on euphonium

  • I play the clarinet, and i ADORE this piece! we are doing it (my high school band) for an recording audition piece. It is very beautiful and difficult to perfect. Simple notes, but hard to live. I don't play music, I eat, sleep, breathe music, and this is such a hard piece to do justice. But I love it so much :)

  • I play the flute in this peice and we don't play it this fast....in fact it's way slower....but a pretty song none the less...

  • Who's the dickhead that disliked this?

  • tubas play out a "J"

  • :) Our Middle School top band played this for our Christmas concert...It actually sounded great in my opinion.

  • @roflmaster18 A lot different from my band, where us clarinets are barely audible throughout the entire song.

  • I play Euphonium, and I get chill bumps EVERYTIME we play this song O_O

  • I remember playing first flute in HS band!!

    LOVE THIS!!

  • I play the clarinet for this song. And I'm only 13. And I'm awesome at it.

  • @yumyumthectperson same heree :D

  • Clarinets rock<3

    But I'm biased(:

So do all the other instruments too of course.

You can't have a band with one intsrument

  • @ArchofHolly *Instrument

  • i play the baritone on this song and it probably has the best part in the whole piece by far

  • @fljagboy Clarinets have a beautiful part tho too ;)

  • The clarinets are drowning out the melody. The only part you can clearly hear is the chorus.

  • this song is so legit! i am play this song in my band in 7th grade!

  • I feel so privelaged to be able to play 1st clarinet on this amazingly beautiful piece

  • I'd like to know where person got a recording of the song. I'ved looked everywhere!

  • Euphonium/Baritone Melodies for the win!!!! <3

  • i love this video, i am playing flute 2 in my band for the winter concert, it is fun and easy but it sounds awsome so far

  • gotta love that key change. @3:05

  • im playing this on tromebone in 9th grade band. I love it, and am sooo jealous of the baritones, because they introduce the melody in the beginning.

  • I played first oboe :)

  • My sister plays the french horn part. It sounds really amazing the thing is the band is only 7th and 8th grade.Well i guess because it's Honors band, but other then that i heard that it was more of a high school piece. Then if so....THEN THATS IS SO FREAKIN AWESOME!!!

  • Compared to Reed's "El Camino Real" I find this piece much, much harder! So much depends on keeping the right embouchure, blending in with the orchesta and producing the right sound. Greetings from a 1st trumpet (dutch wind orchestra).

  • I played 2nd alto sax :)

  • i played second clarinet for this last year!

  • I played the tuba part for this in my high school band and it sounded amazing! love this song so much!

  • this piece is so beautiful...we used to play it for our high school band a few years ago before I graduated, and it was just exquisite. I was just thinking about it recently because I heard another rendition of it with my current orchestra, but I don't like it as much as this one!!

  • I play 2nd alto sax on this peice! i love it and we play this every year at our christmas concert. It is a blast playing this peice.

  • well im playin the bassoon the 1st bassoon part and rock the solo

  • I played oboe for this song. It was kinda bad since I really sucked back in the day. And the reed was dry and chipped at that concert.

  • I love the frimada (spelling?) at the end! The one with the brass! I love that part and the melody in the beginning from the euphoniums! i love the euphonium! it can play both low dark brass sounds like tubas and beautiful melodies like french horns and trumpets! By the way yall sound great!

  • our band is playing this for our christmas concert and we got it about a week ago(if you count out that we had a week off for thanksgiving break) and we're almost done with the piece. with us being a high school band we've done way harder pieces than this but its fun to be able to play this. i also play flute =D

  • I agree this piece is hard but it's worth it. Playing this piece is just absolutely amazing...

  • @sadandmisunderstood I think it's easy.

  • I wish I was in a band that good. Ours is decent. Go rams!!

  • My highschool band recently sight-read this and because I play bassoon I had the melody in the opening and got to really enjoy the spirit of the peice when I played it.

  • i like this song its my first year playing it and its kind of difficult but after playing along with this vid, its kinda easier thanks =) btw im a flute player hehehe

  • kewlness

  • Im playing this song with my MS band and it's going pretty good so far. I play the oboe and im in 8th grade. I love the solos at the beginning and end of this piece!

  • we play this every year in our community band, and it sounds just like this. I play String bass in the Band, but to get it to sound beautiful like this song, I play the tuba part up 2 octaves and add vibrato. it ends up sounding more like a cello. absolutely beautiful.

  • oh i love this song. its so peaceful. my high school band is playing this. im in 10th grade and playing the oboe.

  • Cool one of my best friends plays the oboe, she said it sounds like a dying duck though! But i think the oboe is so nice.

  • Im in 8th grade and I play the oboe as well. I was wondering if i use 16th note or triplet vibrato

  • Oboe does sound like a dying duck for the first few years, until you learn how to make it sound pretty. :) After a few years (I do mean years) it gets to a point where it's incredibly beautiful.

  • I absolutly love this arrangment. It's so peaceful, and just beautiful. Thats for the video! Oh and btw, the last picture is awesome! Good job :D

  • Thanks. We played this last year (my 8th grade) and it was so cool! I hated playing it though.... Ha I'm glad you like it.

  • Played this back in 2001 with my high school band. never played outside of HS. god this makes me wanna go back and play!

  • we played this arrangement of greensleeves when i was in the MA lions all-state band it was great.
