The match at Wrestlemania 18 was the "torch passing" from Hogan to The Rock. That's why Rocky won. If it happens on Wrestlemania 28 between The Rock and Cena I stop watching WWE.
Yeah.....Hogan passed it to rock.,... Rock came towards Cena with the torch in his hand,...(Some of you may know where I'm going)...The Rock then Turned that torch SUMBITCH UP SIDEWAYS, and sticks it right up CENA'S CANDY ASS!
This was one of the greatest moments of all time in wrestling, and probably my favorite moment ever, particularly when the Rock told Hogan "They loved you, they believed in you, dammit the Rock believed in you." Probably the greatest words Rock ever spoke. IMO. And the match between the two at Wrestlemania will forever be my favorite and greatest match ever.
This should have been Hogan vs Austin. Not sure what backstage politics came to play if there were any to prevent it, but it would have been bigger than Rock vs Hogan. Don't get me wrong, this was an amazing confrontation and an amazing match, but I would have rather seen Hogan vs Austin.
Hogan had a problem with "the people", rock vs hogan suits little better, not to mention it turned out to be the greatest wrestlemania match in history.
P.S. Hogan vs austin would had been an amazing match too.
LOL...hogan is actually kinda of right......he used to be the biggest star of all time in the wrestling industry back in the 80's....the whole freakin world knew who he was...but too bad he's fame slowly faded away...now guys like the rock and stone cold took over and finally.....someday...they too will be forgotten...sub me
@SJMJ91 Nah Hogan and the NWO were the heel's at this point and Hogan was blaming the fans for him leaving the WWF/E and The Rock being the face in this situation came out to stand up for his "Million and Millions" of fans. But from a huge fan’s stand point i don’t think it mattered, they were both hugely loved characters and this was the biggest match ever in my opinion.
@PatrickDC1991 So true. Just yesterday the WWE wants to make Rock look like a villain by putting a gospel choir as Cena's entrance. Bullshit, the fans love The rock and detest Cena and his cheesy morality good guy gimmick. Rock changed his gimmick only once because he knew that the fans don't like one dimensional characters, so he basically went full blast at the fans and went from a hated good guy to a beloved bigmouth heel. Cena is the very opposite, liked heel to a loathed babyface.
"I'm the one that put the WWF on the map. I'm the one that made wrestling as big as it is today. There's nobody in this business that's a bigger icon than I am. There's nobody in this business that's sold out more arenas than I have. I'm the biggest star past for present in the wrestling world today and there'll never ever be a bigger star in the wrestling business than Hollywood Hulk Hogan!" - True fact.
great times!!!!! The Rock will always be a star, john cena would never fit in his shoes, you can just tell the way the crowd gets so excited whenever he comes
@DirtyPsycho69 even if it was, fact of the matter is that he agreed to lose twice to the rock yet wouldnt agree to lose at all to Austin. Makes you think the reason for that was because Austin was described as the best WWF/E superstar ever and Hogan thought he was so having him lose to Austin would cement that and he didnt want to do that. With the Rock it is different because while some may say he was the best, most people would say it was Austin.
It was supposed to be Austin who interrupted Hogan in this segment and began working a program with him. However, they couldn't decide on a finish for their match for WMX8. Oh well, I don't think the chemistry would've been as good in the ring or on the microphones between the 2 of them as it was between Rock and Hogan.
@Skywalker327 Rock and Hogan are much more similar than Hogan and Austin. Scott Hall vs Austin was more like the battle between two rednecks that drink like fish and in later years they no-showed.
I wish Hogan wasn't watered down during his WWF/E stay after his return in 2002. The evil heel Hogan from 96-98 was what was needed, but I guess Vince McMcMannequin had a leash on him and since Hogan didn't have his creative control and same pull with the WWF, he wasn't able to go off on the same rants he did when he was with WCW about being the icon and the greatest ever, basically rag tagging and burying anyone and everyone. Miss that Hogan =(
hulk hogan says he is the biggest superstar ever! but The Rock is the best superstar ever! look how fast hul hogan face goes the other way when he hears rock theme song haha
@Mojoman1 I made the comment way before Cena/Rock was even close to reality, but even so, I stand by my comment. Cena (and really any wrestler) is not as big as Hogan was, and that's what made the moment special. The biggest name from the past taking on the biggest current name.
@jrs0268 IMO AS a wrestler hogan wass really the best, but as a wwe superstar, Rock is way above everybody else. And cena, as a wrestler as well as a superstar, is nowhere near Hogan or Rock, they are a class apart!.
@jrs0268 The most Electrifying Man is sports entertainment vs the PG- Cover boy. Will never top the Great one vs Hulkamania. Even the millions (and millions) of the WWF/WWE fans know it too.
This was about passing the Hollywood theme.
