jesus christ! i'm glad that i live in holland, were we don't have freighttrains who pull the horn every goddamn second, so that a whole town wakes up in the midle of the fucking night. I would go insane living next to a railroad like that, and shove that horn up the traindriver ass in no time. Here we would sue the hell out the train companies if they would dare to make such a damn noise.
I've always liked the teardrop windshield design. They were first used on the EMD FP45 class in 1967, followed by the F45, DDA40X, SDP40F, and the F40C during the 1970s. The teardrop design was re-introduced on the Santa Fe's "Super Fleet" GP60s in 1990. So glad to see that this style windshield is still in use by the Canadians. The now standard rectangular winshields are cheaper for the railroads, especially in areas where vandalism is a problem, but imho they're unattractive..
They improve visibility. Those Canadians are always thinking safe. They pioneered the safety cab (Canadian Wide Cab), teardrop windows, and ditch lights.
hahaha yah, you forgot about the crossbucks at crossings, outlined in red :P and to everyone who makes fun of us for being safe, atleast we have a better chance at survival in an accident.
Those GEVO's are the best. You just gota love the sound of it's diesel. Can't wait for T55 to release thier version. The tear drop windos look the best also, don't know why the later GEVO's changed to the rectangular ones. Looks a pit squinty eyed. CN has the absolute best paint scheme. It just has that bold aggressive look, like an Indian Chief's war paint! Thanks for the video!
CN is the only road which has the tear drop windshields on their GEVO's, just like on their Dash 9's. It's not that later models went to the rectangular ones, but rather everyone except for CN have had the rectangular shields since the start (look at the GE prototype even). The tear drops do look wonderful though. It's another reason I love CN.
I captured CN 6008 in Jasper, AB October 26, 2011.

Those marker lights on the nose make it look like an ex-Conrail or a Gonrail loco even though Conrail was long gone before the GEVOs

EMD's always sound strained ! GE's have a much greater sound with their chugging 4 strokes.

thanks for sharing. i love the sound of the gevo. its so much louder than everything else!

#1 - the horn on that sounds like a K5LLA - what EMD uses on its SD70ACe/M-2 units.
#2 - the EMD sings a more musical song, although the 12-cylinder GE sounds good too.
