To answer some questions I simply used the 6 pin data jack on the Yaesu 7900 radio for the rx (rx data 9600 pin 4) and the pin 1 for tx audio after setting the menu for 9600 packet tx. I used pin 6 for the repeater control since vox wouldn't work because I was using pin 4 for rx. I ran the audio through a laptop running a simplex repeater software. I then played with the levels while looking at them with a scope until it worked the best.
I would think that it would. I am no expert, just and experimenter but from what I have played with I am quite sure this would work for des.etc... This repeater also works for DSTAR. It would not work for MotoTRBO since that is TDMA. I have learned that even though P25 is called digital it still has a lot of fm waveforms. This is why you can still use an FM amp for P25 and DSTAR.
what does digtial sound like on the analog radio? Or can it even be heard?
