  • Okay, it sounds like Tourette's. Who gives a shit. Silverchair is still a great band.

  • Tourette's from Silverchair...sorry... from Nirvana (?)

  • Gonna be a liar?

  • sounds more like territorial pissings to me

  • Nirvana ripped off Tame from the Pixies with Tourettes then this happened

  • "Ooh this song is ripped off from Nirvana". No it's not. Every song in a certain genre sounds like that. Ever listened to hardcore punk bands like, for instance, Minor Threat? Every song has that rhythm and 4-chord set-up. Doesn't matter, it's still brilliant.

  • EN LA PORTADA LA FOTO DE JJ

  • Personally, Lie to Me and Tourettes both remind me of the Pixies' song, Tame.

  • Not as if silverchair had to rip off much. This song consists of 4 chords

  • WHO CARES IF IT SOUNDS LIKE TOURETTES

  • How does this sound like tourettes?

  • This doesn't sound like Tourettes, apart from the fact that it's fast?

  • @92RedRevolver the distortion. Sound of the lyrics. Tempo. etc. Sounds just like it

  • @buffluffstuff No, they don't. Tempo is the only thing that sounds similar. Other things are coincidental, because they're of a similar genre.

And personally, I think this is a much better song.

  • ya nirvana is or was good but for u people who cant hear n don see silverchair is 100 times the band nirvana ever was or thought of bein sorry just telling the truth

  • its absolutely tourettes of nirvana but still rules xD

  • @AdoriTraceur first impression exactly like tourettes lmao

  • Silverchair sounds like Silverchair

  • I just wish Silverchair made more albums like this.......instead of "Growing"......I hate it when artists say that.......they should contribute to the state of music, not themselves.....and beleive me music is totally awful now......horrible! horrible!

  • "sounds like" STFU idiots... you SOUND stupid

  • @megadeth2thenwo yes because things can't sound like other things-- oh wait.

  • It's a curious thing that, in a song as simple as this is, quite similar to hundreds of punk songs of the eighties, people only see "a Nirvana rip off", when not even the notes are the same in both songs. I call that lack of musical culture.

  • Circle Jerks YA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is probably the ONLY song by Silverchair that I can say sounds similar to one of Nirvana's songs. All of their other songs are original.

  • Grunge n' roll!

  • I heard this before but it was called tourettes and it used to kick ass

  • people stop fucking complaining about how its a rip off of nirvana. for fucks sake! you guys'll look for anything to make it sound a fraction like nirvana and then you say "oh its a total rip off, sounds like shit!" ever heard of free thinking? just cause one person reckons it sounds like tourettes (it doesn't) everyone else reckons that. bloody hell i reckon it sounds amazing

  • Better to sound like some band that kicks ass rather than some bullshit popular music out today.

  • It doesnt matter if it sounds like nirvana or not, I make a lot of songs too that do sound like other songs only after I realize that. But they dont stop being good songs.

And this one is an awesome one.

  • @Jracer74 Silverchair was part of the post-grunge music "scene." So it's kind of expected that they sound like Nirvana in some ways. Not all of their music is like this. Silverchair has a tendency to kind of reinvent themselves with every new album.

  • Cobain just did it so much better...

    NOTHING like him anymore,

    I mean,

Who Wasn't Influenced by him at some point???

  • how did they not think people would notice i mean for fuck sake

    Lie to me 1:27

    Tourettes 1: 35

its not as if they tried to build on a ripped off idea :S the whole song is completely ripped

  • actually, I heard daniel johns was real big on Minor Threat when they recorded this album. So I thought of them before I thought of Nirvana.

  • agreed baronibabii15....i personnally think silverchair is better than nirvana and people say tht kurt was a better singer than daniel...BULLSHIT tht dude could belt dont get me wrong nirvana was a good band and they started the whole grunge scene i just think tht silverchair is an overall better band but only on there 1st 2 albums. just my opinion

  • @stickymanable Daniel is a great singer, but Kurt had one of the greatest voices in rock EVER!!!

Aaaaand Nirvana didnt start the grunge movement. Grunge was first used as a word by Mark Arm of Mudhoney to describe his sound waay back in 1981 and the 1st grunge band would have to be Green River, which later split into Mudhoney and Mother Love Bone, the latter later became Pearl Jam. SO no Nirvana didnt start grunge, they just made it popular

  • @LongviewGD182

So correct about Mark Arm and the "Grunge" term. I tried telling that to many people who think Nirvana=Grunge.

  • I listened and it is the same but guess what even though i like both bands i thought Silverchairs was better, With that being said i really think they did that song just to fuck with people because they were being compared to Nirvana.

  • yeah this is just like nirvana..so?same style.both band are awesome. just listen the fucking song..nobody cares it's copy or not.

  • And Nirvana ripped off the Pixies, Beatles, Black Flag, Mudhoney, the Melvins, Vaselines, Black Sabbath, Led Zepplin etc etc etc

Who the fuck does not copy? Answer me that, and I will give you the credit of not being a dumb fuck.

  • they ripped off of mad season and nirvana on this album.

  • haha this is a rip off of tourettes. its too bad silverchair sucks now.

  • Nirvana ripped off the pixies and even copied other peoples riffs and melodies besides they dont even like nirvana all of the comments on this page are stupid i love both nirvana and silverchair so whats wrong with having influences?

  • It's not a rip off of a particular song, it's just an imitation of style

  • oh i need this songs lyrics ..i wonder what lyrics tell ....

  • Tourette and Territorial Pissing... but they have always said to be strongly influenced by Nirvana, as if they were their Padawans, so, why do people surprise?

  • @javierlocutor they said in an interview they didn't even like nirvana...

  • @javierlocutor and see what happened when they went on without the masters influence? they turned to the gay side of the force.

  • @DBHEcho The Force has no gay side and even when Silverchair sound different, they still rock, is a matter of tastes and it´s natural that some people like them and some other not. Have a great week bro.

  • @javierlocutor has no gay side?!? you didnt see episodes 2 and 3 did you . . .

  • haha, this song isn't anything near tourettes by nirvana. I mean sure, its got the same time pace, but thats it.

    Awesome song by the way

  • I immediately thought of Nirvana when I first heard this but that doesn't change how good it is. All bands get inspiration from somewhere.

  • The beginning sounds like i believe in miracles by the ramones

  • Why does this song sound so similar to Tourettes by Nirvana?

  • @PheonixSwazz cause music is doomed to repeat itself over and over. just enjoy it.

  • Oh yeah well here is to all you haters.

I have listened to a lot of rock/metal/whatnot and the scream at 0:58ish is one of the best in ROCK HISTORY... out.

  • tourettees

  • You can also tell that they're influenced by Black Flag.

Note the legendary intro of Henry Rollins, "GO!!".

  • @Gloriamagnificens this maybe true but this is the almost same exact guitar and vocals to tourettes by nirvana and played sideby side this songs guitar part has a choppy distortion almost like a delay

  • @zanzibarpat

It sounds like "Territorial Pissings" also.

  • with this song I guess they can't denied that they're influenced heavily by nirvana, from the vocal, drumming , guitar distorsion etc

but I still like both nirvana and silverchair

  • It sounds simular to tourettes but its not note for note. nirvan and silverchair are two very different bands. different songwriting formulas. cobain was very candid about his "borrowing" of lyrics and riffs from his peers. negative creep was practically ripped off word for word from buzz osborne of the melvins. No more stone throwing. PLEASE!

  • oh wow..... this does sound like touretts... haha! sweet! :D

  • ''You can't seriously be looking for the lyrics to this song can you? ''

    HAHAHAHAHAAH

  • Total rip off of Nirvana on this one.....

  • @Jracer74 so what!! Nirvana ripped off the Pixies and they actually had talent so big whoop!!

  • @Jracer74 Obvious ripoff of Territorial Pissings, you're absolutely right !

  • @SickerThanThou Actually, it's the song structure of Territorial Pissings with the chord progression on Tourette's. Just checked.

  • @Jracer74 It's fun listening to Tourettes and this song simultaneously..

  • I agree that everyone has influences....but man this song sounds note for note an exact copy of "Tourette's" by Nirvana.

  • or cyco vision by suicidal tendencies lol

  • @FaithIsAnnoyed I agree, but Tourette's is played with total different chords.

  • @FaithIsAnnoyed not even close

  • Yes!!!! I love tourretes.

Holy Mackerol everybody has influence but it sounds like a cover to me.

  • Daniel Johns and the others were great liars...They always said that they had not been influenced by Nirvana during press´s comparisons...But it´s clear through this album that they took Nirvana as a strong influence on FREAKSHOW

  • i almost forgot how fuckin killer this album and the first one is! I'm on a Silverchair / youtube binge at the moment!!

  • me too ha. I like their freak show and frogstomp albums. but idk about the rest. They changed.

  • Comment removed

  • Love the album cover...Rush Limbaugh as a teenager.

  • anyone thinkin tourettes by nirvana?

  • hahauheuheauhuaheuhae. yeap!

  • @ricochetfuzzy Or Territorial Pissings?

  • I love this fucking song.

    Gryce

  • Everyone has influences, where would metal be without hendrix, cream, sabbath, deep purple, zeppelin etc.

  • Its a good song, but i liked it better when Nirvana did it and called it 'tourettes'.

  • Two different songs, and both are awesome ;)

  • no way, that is the same song....I love both bands, but its obvious.

  • Its obviously not the same song, they're similar but not the same, being highly influenced by nirvana is definitely shown buts thats it.

  • MIENTEME

    MIENTEME PERRAAAAAAAAA

  • mientemeeeeeeeeeeee

    MIENTEMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

    MIENTEMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  • (L)

  • Best song thanks for posting

  • Gonna be a liar?

    Lie to me

    Yeah

    Gonna be a while?

    Lie to me

Yeah i think it's easy to understand it too... but ... enjoy

  • "You can't seriously be looking for the lyrics to this song can you?" Nice one *Haha* Anyways, Silverchair rocks :)
