These truly were the golden years of Touring car racing. The DTM & BTCC were the top Touring car championships in the world and was popular in many other countries, such as Australia, Japan & South Africa. When drivers such as Alain Menu, John Cleland, Jason Plato, Klaus Ludwig, Bernd Schneider and Manuel Reuter were prominent. I remember an old video I had of the BTCC 1994 season and then I realised how incredible motorsport was back in the early 90's.

Dunno about full, but a few weeks ago I went to the official DTM site (google it, im not sure what it was), and they had 40-45 min "overviews" of races, which is pretty much the entire race. That's for the new ones though. I don't know about the old ones, I wouldn't mind knowing that myself. Maybe a Google Video search will help?

Everyone knows that technology used in racing usually trickles down to the company's road cars. Does anyone know how much hp the DTM M3's were producing? I'm trying to make a replica car and i just need to know what the horsepower numbers were.

@iknowcarsbetterthanu The DTM version had around 350 HP and 300 Nm of torque, weighed 960 kg and needed 4.2 sec for a sprint to 100 km/h. Note that they were naturaly aspirated 2.5 l engines, not turbo like some people think. Good luck with your build :)

@MCPEA91 It's not so much that; the reason you see that is something called slip angle. Tires nowadays are designed with a low slip angle, but the tires you see here grip more when they are sliding due to the way the tire deforms.

@lecheparavaka Well, basically in my opinion it became a comercial sport striped from the excitement the DTM had and most importantly, it lost any connection with road going versions of the cars. Nowadays the cars raced in DTM have more resemblance to a rocket ship than to a car they are representing. They are made arround space frame tube chassis, use high reving non serial V8 engines and races themselves are getting closer to F1 style ones. Not trying to start an argument, just my opinion ;)

@pedragluxor The Alfa is actually shown in the vid, and it was only the dominating car for one year - 1993 when it got inroduced to the DTM. The two following years Mercedes won the championship and after 1995 the series was discontinued. The car that was really dominating the DTM (albeit for a short time) was the Audi V8 quattro. It won the title in 1990 and 1991. As a result the regulations for the cars were changed for 1992 and Audi lost it´s advantage and pulled out of the DTM.
