The Shah was a pro western modernizer except that he refused to renew the expiring OIL contract. I agree... Even if US helps dictatorships many ridicule them, but I think that the intention has not been that pure. I think that the Obama can change that though. democratic countries always start caring about nations when they pose a threat to them. I'm sure that if Iranian govt. was having a good international cooperation, then then no one would have cared about the govt-backed rapes and homicides in the prisons of Iran.
