Dude get a damn life, its not loud, you even held it to the camera and i still couldnt hear nothing.. dont know about your theatre setup but i cant even hear myself speak while its playing much less a damn fan.
This is probably a silly question...can you use USB 2.0 hubs on with the wireless USB dongles for Wi-Fi, Wi-Max, keyboard, mouse, etc? Or would the wireless transceivers be too close to one another and cause some form of interference?
Of all the units you have reviewed and/or used which do you feel is the best for running HD videos? Also, do these support multiple video resolutions like regular PCs? 1024x768, 1280x720, 1280x1024, 1366x768, 1920x1080, 2048x1536, or higher?
Maybe you're a little too picky about what you expect from a compact computer. The fan didn't sound particularly loud to me. Does it drown out the softest passages of your favorite art film(s)? If it does then it is a problem. You could just as easily mount the machine in its own media cabinet and close the doors. That will muffle the noise of the fan and still give easy access to its physical controls and ports.
@AllFractUp Yes, putting it a cabinet is always a good choice.. not that convenient with most as there is no remote / IR built in. The camera did not pick up the fan noise.. but rest assured it is unbearably loud. (Think a noisy unmodified desktop PC)
Really? I didn't know most of these entertainment machines don't have an IR remote. I suppose that is something you could add to them with a USB device though. I guess I've grown accustomed to my computer fans :0)
PS XBMC runs on Ubuntu kernel and works perfectly well.. perhaps you just dont know what your doing.
