  • I have a question. Do i need to be in the Air Force to get into ROTC, or when i go to college can i just go into ROTC then come into the Air Force. Please respond!!

  • @MrMraggies1996 you can go into Rotc when your in college

  • @sims3isawesome333 Can I get into the AF when i get out of ROTC? Will i be a 2nd Lt. when i get out of ROTC?

  • @MrMraggies1996 Yes and Yes

  • Ill see you in a Few Years afrotc

  • Lol @leaving your CAC card in the computer. Nope, that shits gonna get hidden somewhere!

  • hey guys i go to a middle school in 8th grade but west point high school has an ROTC/air force academy program to help through high school and collage in the end you earn a ranking of officer, i want to be a pilot for the USAF to get in you have to have a GPA of at least 2.9 to make it in good luck maybe i will see one of you commentators there bye!

  • Idk which I should take in college Nrotc or AFrotc I wanna become a naval aviator or is the aiforce pilots the same thing what's the difference??

  • @sandwhich14 The difference is naval aviators are better.

  • @sandwhich14 huh I wonder....

  • I'm a freshman in college, does anyone know if I can still join the ROTC during my sophomore year?

  • @blueblue156 Your sophomore year is your last year you can join AFROTC if you aren't not already in it. Once you hit your Junior year it would be impossible to join.

  • For ROTC you need a 2.0 just keep your grades up and work toward your goal!

  • Okay so I really need help. I really want to make it into the AFROTC but im not doing so well in school im slacking off really bad and everytime I i say that ill start doing better i dont. But ever since i could remember i wanted to become a pilot. I know a lot about those things. Im really into those things. So i really want to make it, really bad im a sophmore in highschool with a gpa of 2.5 horrible so i really need advice on how to make it into the AFROTC. help please. Thanks.

  • @Razgrez26 ive been doing research on this because i want to get into the officer program after rotc it says 2.0 but its very hard to get in try to get atleast a 3.5 gives ya more chance and if you want to be a pilot take some flying lessons it helps so ive read and try to get a degree the air force needs it will help alot more space is scarce in the af so good luck to you

  • I'm still a junior in high school. Took the asvab and scored 97(AFQT). I've never really considered joining the military, but with my AFQT and a 28 on my ACT do i stand a good chance of getting a scholorship and eventually becoming a Combat Systems Officer?

  • @Mazdra77 Also would I have to make any commitment right out of high school or is that not until your graduate from ROTC and get commisioned. Will i still be enrolling in my regulary college working on my bachelor degree or is ROTC a full time thing.

  • @Mazdra77 first 2 years of college no commitment. you only sign contract starting your junior year. must maintain good pt score and 2.5+ gpa. yes, it's pretty much a part time thing. you take military science classes. and i do not htink your afqt score (you got the same as me lol) factor into scholarship or not. I'm not sure but I think you only get them if you aim to contract. but then if you contract, you have to serve 4-6 years after commission.

  • I plan on taking the asvab one more time in January I've taken this test a lot least 4 times biggest problem is the math over the year I lost my desire to want to go if I don't pass it dis time I jus take ROTC when I get bac in school I want to go to ecu don't know if they offer nrotc but they do airforce

  • im in high school and asian. Could someone tell me the racial tentions that are present in rotc?

  • @rehtardeudpossum

I doubt asian would stand a chance

  • Comment removed

  • @rehtardeudpossum I am in AFROTC and there have been several cadets from Asian Heritage graduate our detachment. Racial issues are non-existent.

  • @Banjuka180 lol yeah, afrotc full of asians at my school too! not so much in the army rotc though.

  • @rehtardeudpossum there are no racial tension in the military in general. i'm sure there's even less in rotc. there are lots of asians in air force and navy rotc so if you think race might be an issue, go into those branches. army doesn't have as much asians but fuck that, i'm probably one of the small percentage of taiwanese american in the army lol.

  • I,m in JROTC

  • What collages provide air force rotc?

  • @05koda *Colleges

To answer your question, go to afrotc dot com and click on 'locate a college.'

  • Man all I need is an SAT score and I'm there... I hope!

  • I'm actually interested in joining the AFROTC program. Does anybody know if there is an age restriction in order to join? I am currently starting as a junior in college. I am 20 years old and I was wondering if it's too late for me to give it a shot? Any good advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks alot.

  • @GoodFellax21 same boat as you

  • @GoodFellax21 Your not even close to being to old.

  • someone tell me some good reasons why i should join air force over navy. Keep in mind i am 27 years old. Am i too old for AF or Navy???

  • @CureRadio You are barely young enough to get a commission(if that's what you mean) and if you want to enlist you have a few years left. And whether you should join air force over navy really just depends on you. You should keep in mind though that the Air Force is the hardest branch of the military to join, they get far more recruits than they are willing to accept.

  • Are those weapons (around 7:30) live and, if so, how much training do you have to undergo before you can use them?

  • @JCaithness Those weapons were not live. They were fake replicas for taining only.

  • there air-force needs to really work on there recruiting videos i mean like the marines army etc have recruiting videos that make you want to join. idk if its because most people already want to join the air-force so they dont think they have to make there videos exiting but this, its just terrible lol.

  • @Evilstewie831 I'm pretty sure this is just an amateur video made by college students at this one detachment, not an official promotional video created by the Air Education and Training Command.

  • @Evilstewie831 i agree, air force recruiting ads suck, and are embarrassing like the recent tv ads. But its the air force, them and the coast guard only have to do little out side recruiting. I never saw an air force or coast guard recruiter once at my high school. They both have high recruiting standards and less spots to fill unlike the army. Thats why they don't have to put much effort into videos and other recruiting tools, but it still would be nice if they did.

  • @k3v015Mk So true, the problem is the army is quantity vs quality. people already go to the air-force. Most of the time the air-force don't go to you. marines and army are always looking for more officers on enlistees not the air force or navy.... but SHIT even the navy has good commercials.

  • @Evilstewie831 Quantity vs quality can also be seen as a problem for the Air Force as well. They care more about who will make them look good instead of who has the heart and skills to excel as a soldier (airman).

  • @cashnougat210 yeah i know, its just sad, right now im in an army rotc at seton hall university and its great but its amazing how even though there are kids there who dont meet the academical level of the airforce which is basically a 4.0 gpa there amazing leaders and have taught me shit i never even thought about.

  • @cashnougat210 I don't know about that. It's more like they are eliminating the human element from the selection process and they only look at smart cadets who may not even give a crap about being in the Air Force. I have seen quite a few cadets pass through AFROTC who were top notch leaders and who had a true passion to be in the Air Force but they washed out of AFROTC because of mostly grades. It's sad because the Air Force is losing some really great potential officers.

  • Hmmm... I'm a cadet of AFJROTC, and am really serious about it. I hope to go to

Texas A+M, which isn't far and heard is has a really good Corp. If I become Corp Commander, would a lot more scholarship opportunities open up? I would like to be an officer in the USAF.

  • @BullCrap4248 , being the Group Commander of any JROTC program can help open scholarship opportunities. The leadership skills are great and it shows the hard work you put towards the program. But being in the JROTC program for 4 years total and showing great values in not just the Air Force values but me being in the AFJROTC program myself i did 1 year in an Army JROTC program and the army values are all round great purpose values. LDRSHIP. II you can follow these values every day it can happen

  • do non contracted cadets get assigned full uniforms??

  • What are jobs after in the air force that you do?

  • @SeanDumont w/e you want. employers love to higher veterans, especially Air Force and Navy

  • No they pay you, but you must attend a credited college full time and do your homework. Read the MGIB and kickers, also agree to go into advance courses and sign a contract with the military. I have to serve 4 years active duty when I finish ROTC.

  • im wanting to go into the air force either to be a pilot or pararescuemen(leaning towards pararescue)

  • I've been reading a lot about ROTC, and I was wondering if anybody here could answer a question that I haven't figured out. I really want to do ROTC,(leaning towards Air Force), but I didn't apply for a 4yr ROTC scholarship in fall of my senior year of high school. I'm still a 12th grader right now, but graduation is soon, and i'll start as a college freshman this fall. Does anyone know If I can still be in ROTC, or be in ROTC with a 3yr scholarship and sitll get an officer commision? -Kevin

  • @k3v015Mk Yes you can be in ROTC, but you cannot get a scholarship.

  • @k3v015Mk It doesn't matter just take out a loan, the Air Force will repay that loan once you go active as a officer. You can attend 4 years at college and take out the loans from your own pocket, the military will repay all those loans used for school once you join.

I went into a contract with the military and ROTC, I am in the reserves. The military is paying me $2,000+ a month to go to school, and work 1 weekend a month. However, I have to go active for 4 years at minimum once I graduate.

  • I go to school completely free, and get paid to boot. I mean how can you build that deal? Plus I have free medicals and nice dental benefits, and I am working towards my 20 year retirement plan.

  • Also a extra note, I will not be deployed to Afghanistan while in AFROTC... That is another plus. I mean I don't mind to go to Afghan, but I would rather go once my degree has been earned and I am in the position I want to be in.

  • @SuRihtanil I don't know how it works with the reserves, but I know for a fact that just joining ROTC they will not retroactively pay for any schooling. You either have a scholarship or you don't, and if you don't get one they won't repay anything once you're commissioned.

  • I'm going back to college just for AFROTC, can't wait!

  • One question: once you complete Air Force ROTC, are you still eligible for the Air Force Academy?

  • @FireBird284

once you complete ROTC you are already a 2nd lieutenant, might as well go on with your career in the Air Force. There are PDTs that you can do over the summer through ROTC where you can train at the academy though. Such as SOAR(glider pilot school) and AFAAF( Jump school). If you keep your grades up you can get jump wings your first summer!

  • Every freshman all year long starts off at Cadet 4th class. No exceptions. All sophomores get promoted to Cadet 3rd class. No exceptions. Then once you go to Field Training (Like OTS) for 28 days. You return to your detachment and are assigned a job for your junior year then you start earning your cadet POC rank (ex/ C/ 1st, 2nd Lieutenant, Captain, Major, Lieutenant Colonel, and Colonel.) Then once you graduate college you also get your commission as a 2nd lieutenant in our great USAF.Have fun!

  • Say I was a I was a LET 5 in Army JROTC as a Cadet Captain. What rank and what LET (if they still have LET in ROTC) would they put me in if I joined air force ROTC?

  • @SquashAndMammoth you will start off at the bottem. they dont care if u were a battalion commander. they will teach u they way the AFROTC want to teach u.

  • if i join airforce r.o.t.c. can i later join marines or army?

  • That opening quote in the video made me realize this is definitely what I want to do...Just a question though, does anybody know how likely it is to land (wow, bad pun) a pilot spot after going through ROTC? I test well, got a 31 on ACT etc...Good physical condition, and it's what I've always wanted to do

  • @drumline17

If you can pull a 31 on the ACT you should do fine on the AFOQT(The Air Force Officer Qualifying Test) just be sure to do some research on it since it has some things the ACT doesn't. Your competitiveness for a pilot slot goes by Your unit commanders ranking, your PFA score(physical fitness), your grades, your AFOQT score, and to a lesser extent any flight time or pilots licenses you already hold. Grades are what kill it for most, if you can keep good grades it's fairly easy.

  • @drumline17

I ran out of room, but to help sum it up about 75% of those that apply for a pilots slot in our detachment have gotten one. If you don't make pilot you can always also put in for navigator (copilot).

  • @Iamcomputre A CSO is not a copilot, copilots are junior pilots.

  • I take that back. I enjoy being a C-17 jet engine mechanic, however...my talents extend far beyond turning wrenches for 20 years. So I would definitely like to be an officer and explore an administrative position. As enamored as I am with jets, I am not interested in being a pilot. . .lol at all.

  • woo-Hoo!!!!!!!!! I can't wait, y'all. I'm a Senior Airman and it SUCKS. I wanna be a BOSS. August 2011, CSU Det 772 baby!

  • to be a pilot you need to at least be an officer.. do you have to start fromt the low ranks or is there some program to become an officer directly??

  • @CrimsonGetsu you have to be a fag

so you become an officer directly

  • @5victorc then you probably became a lutenant colonel almost instantly

  • @CrimsonGetsu danm the you become fuckin president instantly

  • @5victorc then u became world lorder in less than a second bech

  • @CrimsonGetsu ROTC is the program to become an officer instantly. Air Force Reserve OFFICER Training Corps. There are many career choices besides pilot, and getting a pilot slot is pretty unlikely.

  • @watsonyourwallet haha thank you.. and yes i figured that out..you have to be outstanding and have impressive results in the afoqt test as well as flight aptitude. And on top of that you probably need many recomendations.

  • @CrimsonGetsu Yeah, and only 4% of the ENTIRE Air Force is Pilots. So there's a lot more to the Air Force than being a pilot

  • @watsonyourwallet Can you still get some pilot training even if you're not selected for piloting?

  • do all air force rotc detachments go to the same place for FTX?

  • @skatezero37 All go to maxwell hooah.

  • Hey AS100 who has POC looking up to you...you're gay!!!!!!!!! I agree with Imagunnut. He seems like a reasonable guy.

  • Upperclassmen looking up to a 100? And he said it with a straight face? Wow, what a douche.

  • JROTC helps, but I've heard Boy Scouts helps even more

  • @RICE7926 True. If you have your Eagle Scout, when you enlist you go up to E-3. It has no effect on officer positions, though. And, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that each year of JROTC adds one pay grade improvement (So, if you did 3 years of JROTC, you'd enlist as an E-3)

  • @Adcha5 Yeah I believe you have to have atleast 2 full semesters of JROTC in order to get any kind of pay upgrade, but that is only with the SASI and ASI's approval. Those are the instructors in AFJROTC. They enlistee must go to them with a paper and they must sign it approving promotion or denying it.

  • in ROTC they only are required to do PT twice a week! So don't be scared of PT!!! It's worse in basic! 6 times a week. . .weather permitting. . .and that doesn't count all the random times you'll be on your face 'cause someone in the flight fffd up! So if you're toying with the idea of college vs. basic training. . .here's a hint. . . GO TO COLLEGE AND JOIN ROTC!

  • i was wondering do i have to be in AFJROTC in-order to be in AFROTC becuase i did my first year in and all i learned was not to use slang, say sir,and did a lot of push-ups.so i am thinking about quiting jrotc because the extra period, and having to pay 25 cents every time i say yea does not seem worth it.and most of the other cadets who joined the same time as me have left.but i still want to join rotc.i don't want to get to the real rotc and find half of them did not do J.R and it was a waste.

  • @rcvideogamer - No you don't. In fact the majority of the Cadet Corp (that I am familiar with) has little-to-no JROTC experience.

  • @rcvideogamer no you do not have to do JROTC. Just meet the requirements. . .get a qualifying AFOQT score, be able to pass a PT test, and that's pretty much it if you're straight out of high school.

  • im proud to be part of jrotc but i wanna be in rotc. until then im gonna stay a cadet second lieutenant and be proud of my 1 zillion cluster ribbons lol

  • @afluffyman i feel you brother but a little note im in the air force rotc the jrotc wont be useful for shit accept for the drill and ceremonies.

  • The high school I'm going to does not have an Airforce R.O.T.C

  • I have a quick question I'm going to highschool in a few months. The high school has navy R.O.T.C but I want to do Airforce. And I want to be in the airforce when I finish collage. Can I still be in the airforce if I took navy R.O.T.C

  • @cd949604: in high school you are taking J.R.O.T.C which is different then just ROTC. With JROTC you do not have to go into the branch of service because you are in high school so to anwser your question it does not matter what branch of JROTC you take in high school because you can join any ROTC in college if you have any more questions just ask I am in AFROTC right now and just finished my first year and loved it i am being sent to England because of my hard work

  • @bigTend Cool, thanks for the info. I will ask questions later on if I had any?

  • Comment removed

  • @cd949604

yes you can, I took four years of NJROTC and now I just finished the second half of my first year of AFROTC.

  • @Iamcomputre oh well thats cool thanks

  • I've received an AFROTC scholarship, and I'm pretty excited to get going. I want to work for a pilot slot.

  • Great Video, really useful for future cadets. See you at Field Training this summer

  • very helpful, really going to think hard about this

  • @freeskiersprings

its pretty awesome, but be aware that it gets time consuming and is one of the primary things you have to be thinking about constantly throughout college. and if you're thinking about joining because you think its easier than the other branches, its not. becoming an officer in the AF is harder than any other branch even though the PT is probably the easiest.

  • @grantsdaman01

AFROTC is the only service that requires its cadets to pass a standardized test, they don't let everybody make it lol.

  • @Iamcomputre So grades are the most important things to focus on while in ROTC?

  • @drumline17

The thing that weighs in the most is your detachment commanders ranking, which will be based both on reports from you cadet leaders and from things like your grades, attendance, and PT performance. Your grades themselves are the next biggest factor and the one that normally makes or breaks people for things, so yes focus on grades.

  • @drumline17 I would say that everyting is important. It is important to have good grades, participate and stand out in every activity that they offer and be in a good shape. If your not having good grades, they won't consider you for field training. If you don't have a good score in you PT test, they won't consider you for field training either. So, I say it's a little bit about everything. You just need to have a balance and work hard to be the best wingman you can be.

  • I'm thinking about doing AFROTC and I appreicate the video it gave me a lot of info

  • @Dgsmustangs12

its pretty awesome, but be aware that it gets time consuming and is one of the primary things you have to be thinking about constantly throughout college. and if you're thinking about joining because you think its easier than the other branches, its not. becoming an officer in the AF is harder than any other branch even though the PT is probably the easiest.

  • @grantsdaman01 no i was just thinking that i want to join the branch that gives me the most opertunity for advancement, since im mostly thinkin about being a lifer in the military. but idk im only a sophmore in high school so i still hav a lot of time to decide. im on the verge of either pick AF or Army but one doesnt seem to stand out more. Any suggestions?

  • @Dgsmustangs12

if you plan to go a full 20 years in the military, i would definitely recommend either the AF or the Coast Guard, ive heard plenty of people regret joining the other branches but never these ones, the army and marines dont like the AF not because they're sissies, but because they have a ton of benefits with a great lifestyle for having a family and they're just jealous.

  • @grantsdaman01 wow thanks for the info thats prety interesting. i just hav one more question. id be in the air force but to me it feels like either u b a pilot, or u just be some guy stuck behind a desk. but idk what else really is there that i could do for a job that would be like in the field doing fun, challenging things? besides being in the army

  • @Dgsmustangs12

a lot of people in the air force tell me that you travel all over the world for many jobs, one in particular is called a load master, this is someone who i believe rides in cargo planes and keeps tabs on the supplies and/or drops them by parachute. i met one who said that he'd been to all but 4 countries in the world. as for combat, we having PJ's, which are our very small but elite special ops unit, its extremely physically demanding though, so i'd prepare if i were you.

  • @grantsdaman01 nah im not gonna lie we got some str8 pussies in the air force. i see ur in rotc ready to get commisioned any idea on wat job ur getting

  • @Beholdendamage

You don't actually find out if you're gonna be commissioned at all until spring quarter of your sophomore year, which is in a few months. My requested AFSC however will be pilot

  • @grantsdaman01

yeah i've got a ton of friends in the army, they keep telling me they should have went air force. The bases are so much better it's insane.

  • @Dgsmustangs12 Same here!
