I disagree. I don't really need to know scales except that my band class requires it. I do not, however, have any use for arpeggios.

Go The Distance has always annoyed me because the original myth specifically states that Hercules hated music so much that he used his lute to murder his music teacher. It's a good song, but shouldn't be in a movie about Hercules.

However, I can't find anything to annoy me in You'll Be In My Heart.

@bobairlines878787 I feel oddly ecstatic about the fact that someone still remembers that Hercules killed his music teacher in the original myth. In his defense, the teacher hit him first, and he was standing up for himself. Presumably, Hercules didn't realize how strong he was at that point. Hmm, I wonder why they didn't include that scene in the cartoon...

@LadyWinter37 From the version I heard, he was so mad at being forced to learn the music that he whacked the teacher with the lute. It is true that he didn't know how strong he was then, and the teacher was the first person he ever killed. Other inaccuracies in the Disney version include:

Getting the Labors completely out of order

Having Megara not only survive, but be his wife

Having Hera as his mother

Having Hades be the bad guy

There are many more, but I don't room to list them here.

Heracles was actually trained by Chiron.

Hera was his worst enemy.

He wasn't famous.

There are probably more, but I haven't seen the movie for nearly a year, so I can't remember the others, aside from the fact that he obviously would have spoken Ancient Greek, not English.

Hercules has got to be my all time fav animated movie. I do love every Disney movie of these "classic" ones but Herc hit me the most. Great songs, a beautiful story - funny and sad all at the same time. And that 3 minutes sequence where Herc is walking to Zeus's temple. I loved it, absolutely loved it. :)

I'm 18...and I really think the old Disney really taught me something...I miss the good old days when they would show this on t.v... unlike the new shows on Disney Channel. When I'll have my own kids I'll show them only these old Disney movies and old Disney cartoons.

Are you aware that the story of Walt being frozen is really just one of Hollywood's biggest urban legends? He's buried at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Glendale, CA.

Also Walt wasn't alive for movies like Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Alladin, Hercules, or even the Lion King. The best of Disney's movies were from after he died. Unfortunately Disney is in a MAJOR slump right now. Everything within the last few years have really sucked. (with Enchanted being the exception)

I love these movies. I just get goosebumps when I listen to Phil Collins. I feel like those movies made a real impact on me. I remember them better than any of the recent Disney movie I've watched. Disney/Pixar has put visual effects and apperance over content of the story and the general feeling of watching a Disney movie. I wish they would go back to the way it was back when I was little, where i would sit, cry, and laugh the entire movie.

jil93 - The Tarzan part IS from the original movie, it's in the credits. Also, though the Go the Distance part is different than the song sang in the movie, I believe that's the different version sung in the credits.

Disney movies do that a lot. Take songs from the movie and re-do them with different singers for the credits. Like "A whole new world" in Aladdin. Technically it's still the movie version as it appears in the movie.
