@Cyeight The jet's canopy is plastic, not glass. Even if it were glass, you don't hear or feel the sonic boom when you're traveling IN the supersonic jet since, y'know, you're outrunning than the sound :)

You can see the light getting bent... When a bullet/jet goes mach 1 or greater it will start to bend light waves... You can see this effect on high speed cameras slowed down with powerful explosions/bullets/ there is a good video of an atlas rocket taking off into space at cape canaveral...like 2010. I actually saw this rocket from my grandmas house... 5-10 miles away, thete was massive sonic booms, or rather one continuious rumble.

Looking closely you can see the pressure difference causing the air involved in the pressure wave heat, and cause a visual disturbance, in the same way heat rising from the road does. It'll be in a cone shape and is visible in about a 50ft diameter around the air craft.

@theCANaDiAN1987 mach 1.8 at 12.190 m, due the air pressure at that altitude, the "sonic speed" is not the same, it would mean the speed is GPS speed, the shockwave is quite lower. at ground level, it's mpossible to get that fast. If there's a faster jet, it means it has more thrust power, and results in a relative faster speed at ground level.
