idiots so they can break the tops of the windows of the car and the house has to spend approximately q mind at a height of 20 meters over 15 or 40 meters not so high, so when they break the sound barrier do more than 100 , 200 meters or more in height to not pass that! lol
a couple years back a couple of jets broke the sound barrier over the area i live in, and it is MUCH MUCH louder than you might think if you have never heard one, it was crazy.
take a 1 look at your first (*sarcastic*) comment..
i think you really need to grow up.. don't bother responding im done with you, you make no sense to me why would i write about the world or how stupid it may be, end of discussion go pester some1 else kid thanks bye..
Two F-18 once went supersonic over my town! I looked up and 2 things happened: One second I saw them, then I heard a huge boom, the next second both are gone from sight
most of what they are feeling is the compensator on the end of the rifle if you take that off you'll still feel a thud so to speak but not near as strong
@RaphnikaLP Glasses are small. Provides a *very* small surface area for the pressure wave to affect. Pressure is per unit area. Glasses have a very small area, windows have a very large area. Which is why they break more to shockwaves than glasses.
@Cyeight The jet's canopy is plastic, not glass. Even if it were glass, you don't hear or feel the sonic boom when you're traveling IN the supersonic jet since, y'know, you're outrunning than the sound :)
@Cyeight probably not glass...plastic. However the plane itself is not affected by the sonic boom, which is a line of high pressure that radiates away from the plane. Check it out. google sonic boom physics or something.
You can see the light getting bent... When a bullet/jet goes mach 1 or greater it will start to bend light waves... You can see this effect on high speed cameras slowed down with powerful explosions/bullets/ there is a good video of an atlas rocket taking off into space at cape canaveral...like 2010. I actually saw this rocket from my grandmas house... 5-10 miles away, thete was massive sonic booms, or rather one continuious rumble.
Angle of Attack is not the angle of descent, two different things, plus you can't focus a shock wave by descending into a target (because of the way it propagates away from the airplane). It is all a matter of distance from the airplane.
I think the size of the aircraft would be a factor also. As stated i think an aircraft the size of the blackbird would create an much larger pressure wave.
at mach 1, the sound waves bunch up. Resulting in very high pressure and a loud boom. At mach 3, you remain ahead of the sound that's traveling forward. So no bunched up waves there. In theory you would hear the sound played backwards.
thats because those glass bottle has and open end thus creating no difference in pressure. If you take the window off the house, and put it on the ground. It will not break.
@Skidern I can see sound waves, but only if it's instant, not like a conversation. I can see the "vibes", but not everybody can see it, the professors told me. Still doing research, after that, some additional tests.
@periesicsd No, you can't see sound waves. You're probably a synesthetic, look up synesthesia. Its a condition where you hear colors, see tastes, etc, you mix up senses in the brain.
But sound waves are not visible in any way. You cannot see air molecules vibrating
@Skidern but you can see the pressure waves that are behind the sound, in some cases. Looking closely you can see the pressure difference causing the air involved in the pressure wave heat, and cause a visual disturbance, in the same way heat rising from the road does. It'll be in a cone shape and is visible in about a 50ft diameter around the air craft.
I've lived in FL my whole life and live close to Cape Canaveral, The Sonic Booms when they take off and come home will shake the glass and house but it will not break the glass.
I love how everyone gets pissed off when the mythbusters do something really cool, but spend a couple bucks (comparatively), yet nobody says anything when Goldman Sachs and a few dozen other big companies get billions in bail outs, even though it was their fault for failing. I wish I could start a business, run it into the ground and steal all the money, and then have the government bail me out. But I didn't pay to have the president elected.
if you fly through newyork city with a jet and go supersonic all glass within a certain radius will fucking break ooh yeah and u need a closed space as well! for the shockwave to resonate
@ZvedKa Supersonic is supersonic. I even think a greater effect will be made direcly at the speed of sound, than any speed above, because it alows the sound waves to build up/become consentrated.
@ZvedKa What are you talking about, these F-18's are rated at Mach 1.8. There are faster capable fighters yes, but they rarely get up to that kind of speed.
@theCANaDiAN1987 mach 1.8 at 12.190 m, due the air pressure at that altitude, the "sonic speed" is not the same, it would mean the speed is GPS speed, the shockwave is quite lower. at ground level, it's mpossible to get that fast. If there's a faster jet, it means it has more thrust power, and results in a relative faster speed at ground level.
i wounder if this was at cost of Tax payers money?? allowing the blue angels jet for this test is very expensive,no wounder the us is in debt all thanks to mythbusters
@Zpe3ddyGonzalexx Why in the last few years has everyone become a "certified accountant" who specializes in "wastes of tax payer money"? You realize that, as Blue Angles, these pilots MUST put in flight hours EVERY DAY, right? So those planes were going to be in the air that day with or without the Mythbusters in the back seat. In fact, with the free advertising from being on TV, the Navy saved taxpayer money. If you are not going to think through your opinions, don't say them!

@Zpe3ddyGonzalexx You realized that the fuel and stuff was going to be 'wasted' anyway, and then you jump to minor cases like the training, which kinda goes of the subject of the expensive fighters, and which Mythbusters probably pay for their own money anyway.
kwolfangel was right, you were wrong, stop digging in it till you get the last word.
@Zpe3ddyGonzalexx Tell me why busses drive arround, then compare it to why jets fly in the air frequently. If you didn't pay for the busses, they wouldn't drive around.
