The mac beat Windows until Windows 95 10 years later. Steve Jobs did amazing things and took Xerox ideas and developed fonts, cooperative multitasking, ease of use, postscript, networking, and everything Windows 1.0 did not have.

Bill Gates even bought a mac for his Mom. He was envious of Apple no doubt but he realized not supporting the Mac could hurt him as Apple could take over Dos/Windows in his mind. A very formidable threat that took MS 10 years to finally catch up to with Windows 95.

The Mac was the first machine that had fonts. The Xerox did not. The Mac had built in networking. The Xerox did not. The mac had fonts look smooth using mathematical ratio proportions to prevent jagged edges. The Xerox did not on its text. the macintosh... I'm glad Gates made it so I can build a PC to look and run the way I want. I can build a sandybridge i7 with a lot of RAM, HDD, etc and still be in less money than an overly-too-pretty macintosh. I'll always stick with PC. RIP Jobs but Mac still isn't my preference. It's fun to tinker with on a PC though because still repeat above and just add in whatever os I want on my box that I custom build to suit what I want aesthetically and logically.
