  • I read that Steve Reeves credited this exercise along with a few others for widening his shoulders. I tried it before, but I think I'm just too short. My arms were almost horizontal. But I might try it again with a shorter bar.

  • I believe the OLYMPIC bar he used in 1950 was shorter , so therefore should be easier . Use the old bar and you will be going over 400lbs. Steve said the reason he did this was one day at YORK gym , everyone did an odd lift at the end of the day , so he did this one . JOHN GRIMEK stated he saw STEVE do 400 lbs.

  • Reeves Deadlift question?

when doing this is it better to use a deep dish plate or a regular one, will be trying this movement for the first time to see where im at

  • Deep dish plate since you'd have more room for your fingers to hold onto.

  • thanks

  • Strong lift, Ben! Never thought about something like that :)

  • Impressive

  • Thanks guys! The USAWA rule book has so many lifts to choose from that I should never be bored with weight training again.

  • Nice! I like seeing all of these unusual lifts. Keep it up Ben! Good stuff!

  • That's a huge Reeves' bro! Wow. made it look easy.

  • Jesus Ben! I've never thought of trying that. Looks really hard
