I read that Steve Reeves credited this exercise along with a few others for widening his shoulders. I tried it before, but I think I'm just too short. My arms were almost horizontal. But I might try it again with a shorter bar.
I believe the OLYMPIC bar he used in 1950 was shorter , so therefore should be easier . Use the old bar and you will be going over 400lbs. Steve said the reason he did this was one day at YORK gym , everyone did an odd lift at the end of the day , so he did this one . JOHN GRIMEK stated he saw STEVE do 400 lbs.

Reeves Deadlift question?
when doing this is it better to use a deep dish plate or a regular one, will be trying this movement for the first time to see where im at

Deep dish plate since you'd have more room for your fingers to hold onto.

Thanks guys! The USAWA rule book has so many lifts to choose from that I should never be bored with weight training again.
