Metallica and Trivium sound nothing alike. I don't even hear a similarity between James and Matt, probably because I've actually LISTENED to both bands enough to know the difference. Also the guitars in Trivium incorporate a lot more diminished, chromatic, tremolo picking and sweep picking than Metallica and the drums use a lot more double bass. There's no real similarities other than the fact that they stand within the same genre nearly.

It's funny how Trivium got a lot of shit for "copying Metallica" when there are ENTIRE GENRES of music filled with clone bands and many genres in which similarity is what keeps you in the genre and there is very little room for creativity. Those critics were obviously morons. Great song, great band, even if they did rip it off which I doubt. Trivium rule.

I agree with you mostly. I don't think they intentionally try to sound like Metallica, they're just influenced by them. But Matt does look A LOT like James on stage (having his guitar hang really low, having the mic so low he has to crouch to reach it, etc.).
