All too common- Every auction I have been to has too many horses needing homes and not enough buyers. Most end up in the kill pens...sad but true. Rescues have made the problem worse. Auction yards can now ask 400 or more for a 100 dollar horse simply because they can get it from bleeding hearts...and if they dont, they just go to slaughter. The auctioneer will often say....come on bleeding hearts...it's going to slaughter. I use to be able to save horses for 100 bucks..now I cant.

I've eaten cats and dogs in Asian countries and subjectively I cant say they're worth the effort. The horse, on the other hand, is something else. I would like to see it become the primary source of proteins in Western countries. A friend of mine is planning to open an equine burger diner with a cowboy theme in the decor (saddles for chairs) and the response has been great so far.

The owner could have easily passed this horse and taken it back home, but the owner didn't. Horses cost alot of money to keep and if slaughter gets shut down in Canada, there will be a hell of a lot more horses starving out in fields. Maybe you should post some videos of some starving and injured horses in peoples pastures?

Sistermicrowave ! Well everyone is alotted their Opinion but as for me that meat will never touch my lips for me that would be like eating my own son . I dont expect you to understand , animals apear to be nothing more to you than property or food . Either way this video was posted the raise awareness not to invoke sarcasm from people that don't care .. and FYI the regulations of horse slaughter are extremely loose so Id be careful what you eat you have no idea what it was shot up with *FACT

I find that these auctions to sell horses for food are inhuman. There should be something like dating agency where people can choose their horse, maybe take it out for a ride, give it sugar lumps and stuff before its slaughtered.

@CanadianHorses4life Well as the stuff I eat tends to be dead, the issue of its welfare is very relative. I've eaten cats and dogs in Asian countries and subjectively I cant say they're worth the effort. The horse, on the other hand, is something else. I would like to see it become the primary source of proteins in Western countries. A friend of mine is planning to open an equine burger diner with a cowboy theme in the decor (saddles for chairs) and the response has been great so far.

The owner could have easily passed this horse and taken it back home, but the owner didn't. Horses cost alot of money to keep and if slaughter gets shut down in Canada, there will be a hell of a lot more horses starving out in fields. Maybe you should post some videos of some starving and injured horses in peoples pastures?

This really did make me cry, because i thought what the horse was thinking, he was probably always loved and with a family, and now hes scared and worried! not knowing what will happen:'( Now he never will get to go to a good home :'(
