Yeah now they r gonna raise taxes and car registration another 60 bucks per vehicle. Nice. People cry because their little green car with 12 inch tires get flats if they run over somethin bigger than a acorn
The 'rust belt.' Michigan is a crap hole. The idyllic farms are just a Potemkin facade for the urban wastelands like Flint and Detroit. Rural Michigan has no jobs, so the ambience of rural beauty is overshadowed by its poverty.
the funding for roads absolutely cannot keep up with all the weird freezing/thawing that causes potholes. it is borderline impossible. they should recruit michiganders to drive through mine fields, i think they would do a pretty good job. lol
Don't be like California which roads are falling apart too and just let everything go except the state of California which spends more on it's prison syetem and the CDCR as they call it here is the state's largest single employer.
Michigan and the region around the Great Lakes is like pure heaven compared tp this complete hell hole which is a high crime, high cost ghetto full of the trash from all the other states.
A 2 bedroom shack that is 900 square feet in a slum costs $250,000 plus here.
I don't understand. They DO in fact fill them............ Eventually. They fill them with that crap hot tar rock and depends on the cars to pack it down but in reality it just loosens it and knocks it all out again.
Now THESE Pure Michigan Videos are the ones they SHOULD show in promoting Michigan to other states.....these ones are realistic to facts than the ones they currently show....
We pay a gas tax and are taxed to register our vehicles. A huge sum of money that is supposed to go for roads. But the Democrats and unions use it to line their pockets.
@ed1642 Im pretty sure our tax dollars are what pay for the infrastructure. Tax cuts=crappy roads. But dont worry, now that Snyder's going to be taxing pensions & low income homes, cutting funding from public schools,& possibly putting a financial manager in charge of your city (who could dismiss all your elected officials & thus eliminate their paychecks) there'll be plenty of money for the roads now. That is, if it doesnt already go to the $1.8billion in tax cuts to the corporations first.
@ed1642 We elected them... and must take responsibility for our own folly. Sadly, in the face of economic crisis, they will probably demagogue themselves back into power.
Haggerty Road! I live in Belleville and EVERYTIME I drive down there I hit a bump or pothole or even both! Who suffers the drives on HAGGERTY, give this comment a THUMBS UP!
YES! I know someone who lost a WHEEL in a pothole on...either 696 or 275. Somewhere on those two freeways on the route between 94 to Southfield. The important point is there was a pothole bad enough on a very busy freeway that it swallowed a car's wheel. Imagine the horror if a gasoline tanker had hit that pothole!
Just tell them they will be hosting another Superbowl. They fixed 94 from the airport-all the way to the east side for that. Even those tank traps near the ol' Packard plant and 75 that I remembered hitting back in the 80's.
Bar none - THIS is the best pure michigan spoof. The only thing I would add is a reason for the potholes in the first place - cheaply built roads at high UNION costs and payoffs to corrupt government officials. I've lived in other freeze zone states and Michigan has the worst roads. They patch potholes using three or four union workers with shovels, each driving their own dump truck. Nothing is fixed correctly. What a dump.
However, a few years ago, I remember driving out of Michigan into another bordering state (which will not be named). After a minute of suddenly driving shockingly rough highway, my father asked, "Notice anything different?" We then discussed state budgets...
......My nomination for ' Michigan's lil Baghdad like roadway' is Haggarty rd from 6mile to 7mile. A few trips down that at 40mph and your almost gauranteed to knock some fillings lose...
This is one of the best videos I've seen -- and a great message. Well done -- I'm going to call my legislators and tell them to fix Michigan's roads and bridges!
@teddybbylovesyou : This is NOT funny. It's outrageous. For too many years now, Michigan has sent more money to Washington, in the form of taxes, than it receives in government funding for projects. While many states receive money in multiple times more of what they have sent, ie., millions of dollars for a bridge to nowhere in Alaska. This has happened for so many years now, that the infrastructure in Michigan is crumbling....

When a people chooses corruption, Fascism, and union thuggery at the polls, corruption, Fascism, and union thuggery (and potholes) will follow.
Corruption, Fascism, and union thuggery also will ensure degradation in culture and other parts of the "infrastructure."
We are witnessing the crumbling of a once-great Republic [which, as Ben Franklin feared] survived only 1/4 of a millenium. How sad is that?
Whose fault? Ours. Because some allowed our Republic to rot, all will suffer.
