@allisonmariiee the reason why your having trouble with finding info about the cree is lots of cree history isn't written down on paper it's past down through generation by generation and sometimes it isn't passed on so lots of traditions and information is lost with the elders who pass away with them
Hi, I have a project due in like 5 days , If anyone knows alot about the cree indians , can u message me telling me like history of them, like about the war they had with the english , and why they had it and alot more, I cant find stuff with detial about them on the internet, I would truly appreietiate it , i just need hisotry of them in detail. oh and about thier like beliefs and stuff. please please please messsage me if u know anything telling me a bunch of history, love you whoever msg me.
@316bluethunder omg thanks, thiers like no info on the internett,. can u personaly msg me telling me some info with alot of detail like why they did that or stuff, like that i personaly want to know about the war they had with the blackfeeeet i think and the sioux. :) thanks xoxo,
@allisonmariiee sorry allison there is something wrong with your inbox ..your comments section accepts only a few pargraph.I have been sitting here for two hours alraedy not getting anywhere
@allisonmariiee first of all the Cree are the largest tribe in Canada, stretching from Quebec to Saskatchewan.Along the coast of Hudson Bay and inhabiting halfway across the provinces to the south.During first contact the French and Brittish were waring and of course they needed Allies.I would be from the Sea Cree and of course we were Allied to the Brittish, but in the Latter part from manipulation the plains Cree sided with the French.
very nice. good vocals by the cree tribe which I am a part of..never under estimate the power of a warrior..I may love you and kiss you one day..you cross my path I may slice you wide open only to watch you bleed to death.
my bf is Algonquin and was raised in the bush with his grand-parents when he was a newborn. he loves being in the bush wants to take our kids in the bush to..anywayz love the song can't wait for pow-wow again :)
not an actual "war song". real war songs were only made by actual war vets. these guys arent really warriors. just words put to a drum beat. this is more of a northern contemporary fancy dance song. NOT an actual "Cree war song". just saying. btw im Cree and i kinda know what im talking about lol
@pnzgurl18 So, the fact that they are not warriors totally dismisses this as being named a war song? And yeah, obviously the voices heard in this song are not of actual Cree warriors, since society does not really allow some Native American practices anymore. Sounds a lot like youre saying songs like this are meaningless now. Im not intending to be offensive in any way, im just trying to understand. I have a fascination and a Great respect for Native culture, beliefs, and music.
@TheSerenityhuck I really dont understand what you mean are not warriors when the cree are the largest tribe in canada.to be this large would definately mean they were very warlike to hold territory that large,as well keeping other raiding and marauding tribes at bay.
@316bluethunder Before all Native American tribes were moved to reservations, a Native american would have to accomplish surtain tasks, and would have to fight in and experience combat in order to be considered among their tribe as a Warrior. Now days, there are no battles, fights, or combat for one to prove their strength as a Warrior. Society today is controled by a very restricted type of order, epsecially to Native people. Its very unfortunate...
@TheSerenityhuck The reason how I know is that am Cree myself as well.Even today their are certain skills a young person must pass from adolesecence to reaching full maturity in order to be accepted as a responsible adult.I know for a fact their a number of traditional enemies the cree have to this day that they had as feuding enemies from the past.Of which I wont start naming names off,if you were reffering to the past as the cree not being warlike you are mistaken so.
@316bluethunder Well I was never implying that the Cree tribe isnt warlike. And if you look back in the comments, you will see that I am not the one implying that this isnt a war song. But I understand what you are saying. And its very comforting to see that Native American ways are still practiced. Now, you say one can be accepted as an adult. But in this day n age, can one be recognized as a warrior?
@TheSerenityhuck checking your profile you are fairly young. For us if you could spend a few to several nights by your self in the woods away fromevryone and evrything.if you can make it alone out there to survive then that means you can take care of yourself.be a warrior as well. And i dont mean just over beyond those woods.canada is a big country with wild animals and bigfoot with alot of other hazzards as well.
@316bluethunder Its funny, its actually been one of my goals since I was in elementary school, to spend a period of time in the wilderness. To see what I can find, spiritually mostly. And to have that ability to rely on nothing but what god and the earth has provided around me. Thats one of the main reasons why I joined the Navy. So I can someday afford to do so, and to get away from the city. Also to develope a bigger mental and physical strength.
Thank you for this great war song. My grandma was Cree and she was a strict woman. Anyway, a good video, very original. I hear that beat and scream of the warriors when I drum.
How is it with religion and native americans these days? I know some are christians but what about the old religion?
Here in Scandinavia, the old religion is growing again, and because it happens in a modern time we dont have problems with fanatics (execpt Odinists, but luckily they are few in number)
@RavenofDenmark I know this is old, but i'm going to respond. My family & I still practice the traditional way, along with a few other families on my reserve (I am cree btw.)
@RavenofDenmark No, I sadly don;t, but the elders do. I'm hoping to learn it eventually though. Also by traditional way I mean sweats, night ceremonies, smudging, etc.
@BitBitBabiGirl I suppose you can get your hand on a grammar and a dictionary, and then you can practice with the people you know. Wikipedia tells me that Cree is a polysynthetic language, such kind of languages has a totally different grammar than english does, so it would be good to join a class with a teacher which can explain it.
Thanks for the info ^^ and good luck learning Cree :)
Forgot to mention, they would only sing like that when my mean German Grandfather would do something stupid. Or when they were trying to teach the males in the family about our roots from their side. Powerful females!
I remember my grandmothers( both) singing like this...I may have blue eyes but my blood is red as is the path I walk. Thank you for bringng my grandmothers voice back to my dreams.
So PROUD of who I am and where I come from. We are Warriors We r still here and We will always be here... As long as the sun shines, river flows and the grass grows as the Great Chiefs spoke...
