  • thanks for the review

  • you guys should try out the mod Double your Pleasure, ITS AMAZING!

  • will u play multi with me?

  • will u play me in a game of it in multi?

  • Civ III sucks so fing much! It's nothing like Civ I, the battles are random and stupid (ie. a 4000 B.C. warrior can kill a modern rifle man), and the gameplay is horrible! Even on easy, I barely manage to get to the musket age before the time limit expires and my game is over! What the hell is the point of even playing??? Horrible, horrible game!

  • Civilization 3 complete edition only $1.25 on steam for the weekend deal, get in on that shit!

  • This game still kicks more ass than Civ4.

  • where did you find civilization 3 gold edition? I have Civ3, but without PTW and Conquests...I played civ3 a lot and I have a lot of saves...if you want to, I'll give them to you:D

  • go buy em online

  • Civilization III Gold is AWESOME. Some people don't know that because they don't know it's potential. It comes with Modtools that you can use to edit practically anything. There are even hidden units like Dinosaurs, WWII Units, and even Santa and Elvis! I'm not kidding. I'll post a video if I ever find the CD again..

  • this game is pretty good, but the other civ games r better, except 4 rev. civ rev sucked.

  • howw many cultures are there?

  • was there anything new new added into the gold version?

  • Yeah, a couple more civilizations and multiplayer.

  • Umm... is Gold simply like Complete? All Civilization 3 Expansion Packs? (e.g. PTW and Conquests)?

  • no its just play world and civ 3

  • which is better this or civilization revolution

  • I'd have to say this...

  • depends if you want to play two hour games or two day games.

  • which is which

  • if your playing this game, you will have a much larger tech tree, more units, and longer gameplay. however, the entire gameplay is over 2 days long. for civrev, you have alot less features, but you can complete an entire game on diety in 2 hours.

  • i dont think you even need the disk for this game. i never put the game in on any of my computers after i install the game and it works fine.

  • For this game or Civ 2? I know you don't need it for Civ 2, but I don't have it installed on my newer computer.

  • for this game. it works fine no matter what computer i play on. although age of empires requires the disk in it, but this one doesnt seem to need a disk after installation.

  • yeah me too lol

  • where do you get the gold version?! i need to know!

  • hey,

i got the regular civilization 3 for PC. di you know if there is a way to delete old saved games? coz when you go to load a game, it shows all the fricking games that i have saves in the past and that list is getting fricking long.

nice video 5 stars on presentation

  • Thanks, I used to know, but now I'm pissed off because I can't remember! I went to Program Files>Atari>Civ 3>Civ3PTW because the game saves in a "Saves" folder there, but in Windows it doesn't show up! I remember doing it before though, so if I remember I'll tell you.

  • reply to crazieman76

    right click on the shortcut

    go to properties

    click "find target"

in the folder that comes up

double-click on the folder that says "Saves"

and it brings up all the saved game files

from there you can delete your older game files

its helpful for when your computer has low memory to keep only your last save

i don't save my games i let autosaves do that for me but i used to save a lot manually so i learned how to delete

  • thanks, i will give that a shot.

  • The combat system in civilization 3 sucks, i once destroyed a tank with a warrior >_>

  • Yeah, that's still a problem even in the more recent Civ games...

  • Yup I've killed a helicopter with Calvary in Civ 4

  • Haha...

  • lucky bastard.... lol

  • yeah seriuosly i liked 3 better because one the graphics where better in 3d animation, 2 its to cartoon like and civ 3 was just more begginer and expert freindly and i played this game alot when i was younger like 7 a always wanted to get to the modern times so now i play the game and still love it but had to get diffrent version oh well this rocks anyways!!!

  • im going back to 3 myself, 4 just dont have the pazaz of 3

  • 3 was perfect...4 just has too much extra stuff. They gotta face it, it's gonna be tough improving this game from now on...

  • true

  • Can you elaborate on that? I want to know which one to get

  • If you're looking for clean gameplay, go with 3. If you're looking for a better looking game with more fancy features, go with 4. But if you're looking for online play, there's usually no one on 3 anymore so then go with 4. Anything else you want to know, just ask.

  • @Sinjin90 you should try Rise Of Mankind mod for it, its pretty amazing!

  • i prefer III over IV cause in IV i dont know whats what

  • Great game! But i rather play Civ IV ^^.

  • I love civ 3, but everytime i play i become technologically backwards >=(

  • Ha, me too, but later you can raise the taxes all the way and speed the research up!

  • Still can't find anyone online..I really want to play online more than anything. I''m getting tired of easy computers on deity.

  • I wished civ4 used the same graphics as civ3. Civ4 becomes an eyesore after a while, and who needs 3d graphics that suck up computer resources on a turnbased strategy game?

  • I agree, Civ 2 still gets the job done for me, but obviously I prefer Civ 3 over that. Civ 4 is just a little too fancy graphicswise, but they probably would've got a lot of criticism if they didn't change the graphics.

  • I find Persia the best, I usually win every game as them. Anyome still play online? I can never find anyone online.

  • I usually play as Scandinavia or Carthage, basically because their special units are the best.

I guess I could play online, the reason I stopped was because of the same reason, there was never anyone online with Civ 4 out and everything...

  • i find OE to be most suitable for me, their unique dominate for an entire era and the late medieval/early industrial golden age really helps me get ahead in tech to sell to AI in deity and emperor levels.

  • my favorite part is starting the game with a new civilization.

  • mininova

  • is this a rts or turn based game?

  • Turn based.

  • I'm getting the Civilization III Complete this weekend. Shingo whats the difference between that and Gold?

  • Sorry, didn't see this comment until now!

I'm pretty sure it's the original version plus the conquests and multiplayer expansion packs.

  • is all the games mixed into 2 cd's and i think a couple extra features

  • Good review. I have the original Civilization 3, i have to get gold for all the improvements :)

I don't like Civ 4 either. I think with that and revolution they ruined the series.

  • Thanks, I had that too but I lost it like Civ 2...I should look harder...

I don't think they completely ruined it, but they came pretty close. Hopefully they can make a comeback with Civ 5, assuming there will be one.

  • haha, i leave all my Disks in a huge 5 gallon bin :) I have hindreds of them(most of them i try to keep them in thier case or those paper sleeves.

  • Ha, mine are all in random places around the house...I should fix that.

  • mine used to be like that too :) but i lost too much stuff :P

  • my disks are all stacked on top of eachother in diffret areas XD

  • reminds me of alpha centarui

  • yeah, revolutions map is technically not that big I guess, IDK it is more like one large island in the mddile and a lot of really small islands around it. The biggest map Ive played on had around 12 branches though. (which is quite big I guess...)

  • I wouldn't expect that much for Revolution, it probably works...

  • i suck at this game...never made it past midieval times...i aim to change that this weekend...

  • If you do make it past, you'll probably get so hooked you'll forget to eat...

  • I did notice that recently...The map in Civ 4 on the biggest setting is still pretty small.

  • woah, Civ Revolution is way better than that one, probably cuz its several years newer though.

  • Well, yeah...

I still gotta get that one...

  • I've got it. Its alright but the rivals dont have they're own personalities. Ghandi is just as likely to declare war on you as Bismarc of the Germans is.

  • That's a good point! I never thought about that...

  • ive never played anyone online yet cuz it just shuts off when i try. so ive only plyed the computer for 5 years. i find myself knowing what there going to do.

  • I usually don't play anyone online, I know what you mean though. But usually when I play I don't really want too much of a challenge so the little bit of predictability is OK.

  • i liked civ 3 the most, the only thing i have to say that civ 4 is better at is better land working like how you can build mines, windmills, cottages, farms, etc and in civ 3 its just about only mines and irigation but other then that civ 4 sucked and civ 3 owned. and especialy how once your done researching everything in civ 4 the only military options are, modern armour, gunships and artillery. thats it, everything else gets turned into mech infantry.

  • Yeah, I agree. Civ 3 was still just as fun and about half as varied once you were done researching compared to Civ 4...

  • i wish i never played this game because its all ive done the past 6 years since.

  • lol, same for me...

  • hey shingo7772 great review I think I gonna love this game

  • Thanks, I think you will too.

  • I have the civil 2 cd but it has a crack in it. But it still works.

  • I should find mine...It has to be here somewhere...

  • I love this game :)

Good commentary - keep it up!

  • So do I, thanks a lot!

  • I got camstudio but it sucks

  • Camstudio does not suck, you just have to esperiment with it.

  • how do u get hiper cam?

  • Just search for Hypercam on Google, and click on probably the first one...Then they have a free download or you can buy it to get the watermark thing off...

  • thanks a lot shingo7772

    sweet memory

  • You're welcome...That's what I'm here for, I guess...

  • is ít possible to find torrent which doesnt need cd burn for civ3?

  • Sorry, I have no idea.

  • It is good, I just have a few suggestions for future reviews/others... Instead of just playing while talking, you should have it set out to where when you talk about seperate wins and things like that, have a different save to load. Give an overview of all the Civ's and go in to further detail about expanding and growing. Otherwise excellent.

  • Thanks a lot!

  • Civ 3 is the best civ 2 and 1 are good too but i hate civ 4 and revolution they just arent as good as the first 3!!!

  • I agree 95%. Civ 3 was Civ at its best, just the right combination of simplicity, strategy, and challenge. The other 5% is for Civ 4's graphics which are nice to look at from time to time. Otherwise, the newer ones just aren't the same.

  • you have the same voice just like Butters from southpark!

  • Interesting...I haven't heard that one before...
