  • I could only imagine if he pushed his vocals to the limit the same way he did on the recording, his vocals cords would explode

  • i am a big fan of Judas Priest but i have to say that Rob sounds like a granny taking a shit..!! anyway \^^/...

  • @Lefterisrethymno97

So pitty, but I got to agree with U

  • @komar009fidzi I don't know if the quality makes his voice like that or...

  • @Lefterisrethymno97 I think its the bad quality

  • ...i autorem moich dwóch ulubionych sampli jest Polak ;)

  • the solo would never be loud enough...

  • Lol nice voice Halford!

  • Judas Priest and Manowar are my pride of being a real man, I am excited, they are hard, are coherent, are PURE HEAVY METAL, true to their fans. YOU ARE THE BEST

  • this is ot the same song ive heard on the official video! :O

  • That solo by Glenn is beyond comprehension. WOW!

  • Unbelieveable, he actually sounds BETTER singing this song now

  • Fucktards, he is not on hellion... - it is just marge simpsons singing

  • I'm so happy hair metal is over.

  • @rockon6191 good thing this is thrash

  • @Nitro487 Kinda blends together a bit, but that's just my opinion of course.

  • @rockon6191

Yet we have emo, rap, justin beiber, and lady gaga that should come to an end because they are all extremely overrated.

  • @LanDio1981 Oh absolutely. Emo's pretty dead though, thankfully. And while mainstream rap remains terrible, there's quite a bit of very good rap as well. Justin Beiber and Lady GaGa need to be banished to a far away land where singing is illegal.

  • @rockon6191

The only rapper I ever truly liked was Eminem mostaly because his rap was original. After he left, rap started sucking again.

  • @LanDio1981 As far as rap goes, it's not quite in my expertise, but Jay-Z has some pretty exceptional material, and Kanye, for all his douchebaggery, put out a killer and very inventive album with Twisted Fantasy. MF Doom is about as original as anyone in music comes, but you'll never hear him on the radio. If you want real, personal rap, Childish Gambino's Camp is what happens when a nerd/actor/comedian creates an album as interesting and honest a paradox as he is.

  • @rockon6191

Jay-Z is alright (at least he got Beyonce)

Kanye West is a total jackass in which I agree with you on that. To quote the South Park episode: "Kanye West loves fish dicks" lol.

MF Doom and Childish Gambino's Camp, I never heard of them so what's really to judge on that.

  • my ears r ruined, i bet hes on Hellion

  • We try to made own heavy....Misty Gates band.Westerrn Ukraine.L'viv city

  • he should've tried to do the vocals like death when they covered this song. or maybe a slight difference.

  • paiiinnn kiiiilllllleeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

  • I believe he never performed live this song like he did on studio

Not a single live sounded even close on studios version vocals.to bad

On the other hand you cant judge from videos they always change the voice

  • @akiskapouros Too bad they didn't write this song back in the 70's there'd be plenty of quality videos. Then again, the pitch is so high I'm 20 and can't even get close to as high as when they recorded it.

  • thats not what it sounded like live

  • solo csm suena como si estuviera de estudio la wea!!!! lml

  • man thats hard stuff to sing i can do it tho so can ripper!

  • 1:33, i literally laughed my ass off when i heard that

  • Fuck that guy can scream. FUCK THESE GUYS WEAR DEADLY CLOTHING!

  • 555*****!!!! \m/ GREAT!

  • I want to see everyone in leather with studs on street again

  • @jpp16PL it'd be awesome

  • Glen Tipton makes it looks so fuckin easy!!!!

  • He blew his voice out :c

  • watch?v=XdPiQ6Mioa4

  • @xxJirenzaRxx Ty for link:D

  • absolutely awful. But...amazing.

  • *5 days

  • this was days after I was born :D I'm happy I was born into an era where thrash metal was right around its peak

  • No one like Death : / damn!!

  • sounds like this marshmallow watch?v=prFpWnls1wk

  • @xrinik9419 EXTREMELY similar. lol!

  • Detroit fans sure got their money's worth that night

  • wow, how can you dislike this song 74 times... sure the audio is not perfect, but come on. this is Judas Priest people. such an awesome band and you're gonna down this vid... give it a chance. ROCK ON PRIEST!!

  • @AC130abuser

Judas Priest is my favorite band, but there's a point : they never should have played "Painkiller" live, because this song is so "perfect", so worked in studio that it's simply impossible to transcribe its might live. Rob never managed to sing it properly, because when he recorded the album, he already had no more the voice he used to have at the screaming/defenders era, when he was able to do live anything he recorded in studio...

  • sometimes i think that Death version is little better... but this live is awesome

  • watch?v=UJ4Nel-aHZM

    Painkiller HQ !

  • this is actually damn good.

  • QUE GRANDE HALFORD, UN ANIMAL!!! LAS HACHAS ETERNAS!!!!!

  • The guitars smoking

  • Bestes Judas Priest song ever!

  • awesome

  • Love Priest but this kind of makes me think of Gollum sinking the song lol.

  • fact is Rob Halford brings the "Emperor's New Clothes" to mind. I saw them for the first time in 88 when he was in better shape and he had trouble keeping it together then too. Seen them several times and wasn't blown away until Ripper Owen joined. He sang in a way that Halford never could. But hey, let's keep pretending as if Rob is the undisputed king.

  • @crilledisst

You are dreaming dude. Let's hear Tim Ownes when he's 60.

  • @painkiller1968 I look forward to it, lthough that wasn't my point. My popint was, and is, that RH has NEVER been as good as Ripper. Maybe more charismatic, but never a better singer.

  • @crilledisst FUCK YOU HALFORD IS THE BEST FUCK RIPPER

  • @krauges what a great comeback. Well spoken, well thought through.

  • @crilledisst HALFORD IS THE BEST METAL SINGER OF ALL TIME WITH A DISTINCT VOICE THAT NOONE ELSE HAS .EVERYBODY ELSE SOUNDS LIKE THE SAME SHIT RIPPER INCLUDED

  • @krauges I was very surprised to find that you are well into your 40's. You have the verbal skills of an angry 10-year old. But then I saw that you're Greek and then I realized that you're probably just an angry loser and that the Internet is the only place where you can take out your aggression without actually getting your ass kicked.

  • @crilledisst where the FUCK did u find out that i am 40 you fucking FUCK and what the fuck does being greek has anything to do with this conversation you fucking fascist pig shut the fuck up and go die alone in a fucking corner like a dog

  • @krauges like i said, you're all talk on the internet, but you don't even realize that you're coming across as a complete retard. I feel sorry for you man. If this is what greek middle-aged men are like, no wonder the economy is going down the toilet.

  • @crilledisst you seem to know a lot about greek midle aged men u sure must have tasted a lot of midle aged greek COCKS you fucker...anyways saw priest last night and they were fucking GREAT GODS halford is the fucking best ripper will be just footnote in the great history of JUDAS FUCKING PRIEST

  • @krauges that's funny man! The only comeback you could think of was to call me gay, and then went on to idolize the most famous homosexual man in heavy metal history. I think you have som issues will all that aggression. Maybe you need to come out of the closet?

  • @crilledisst the fact that he is a great singer has nothing to do with being gay being gay is being gay whoever you are the best fucking singer or a fucking loser like you

  • @krauges ok man, even YOU know that didn't make sense. Let's face it, some people are just less intelligent than others. You probably have some sort of advantage, although it surely isn't brains. You can go on yapping and being as angry as you like. You're still just a loser and I'm quite enjoying pissing all over your face every time. You just can't give up can you?

  • @crilledisst you say you have brains but i bet whatever the fuck you want you are just another loser that did not even go to school and pokes his nose for a living you have no idea who the fuck I am but I can assure you that I am in a position that in itself proves tha my intelligence is further beyond anything you could ever imagine so shut the fuck up. You also keep saying I am angy but you cannot even see me mother fucker I am on my couch drinking a Mojito enjoying kicking your butt

  • @painkiller1968 so RH was 60 in this clip? That makes him 81 today.

  • @crilledisst Halford should never have left priest, his voice got so much better in the time he was doing solo work. Halford - Live in anaheim: Pankiller is the best painkiller on the planet. If only he was with priest then. Halford IS the undisputed king.

  • @mynamesjack5 well we can keep on yapping about this for years, but like I said: Emperor's new clothes. Look it up.

  • JUDAS PRIEST KICKS SERIOUS ASS!!!

  • the pitch is messed up

  • Was the pitch of the audio raised? Why is Halford's voice so high

  • I wonder if he ever has to inhale helium b4 a show.i luv halford!!!

  • these weren't the best days for Halford and true is that he would sing this song better few years later

  • he sunds like a granny singin´ xDD

  • omg... Rob sounds not good here ;(

  • 2:16 to 3:37 he makes it look so easy

  • sound like a baby

  • Those solos were just fucking awesome, makes me wnat to kill myself for being a bad guitarist

  • Rob sounds ..not so good here..

  • K. K. and Tipton are the best duet-guitarists in heavy metal. too bad K. K. left and now there's someone replacing him in the duets with Glenn

  • @PolMcCartney wasn't aware of that, fucking sucks, and I'm watching them live on October, guess I'll just shout ant Glenn then

  • Holy shit! I was actually there and got front row pics of Priest. I have them somewhere. They opened with Hell Bent for Leather with Rob riding out on a motorcycle.

  • i want a jacket = tipton

  • rooooooooooooock pain!!pain!!KILLER!!!!KILLER!!!

  • That's probably a bad song to leave in the last part of the set.

  • @sinisterskid Yeah, on the one hand his voice is shot by then. But on the other hand if he sang it first he'd be fucked.

  • This is fucking awesome!

  • stop talking abour how "bad" he sings in this video.... lets see.... sing like 20 songs before this and keep you voice as "god"

and album version have like 3 voices.....a normal voice, octave up voice, and octave down voice.... so shut up and go watch the reunited dvd version or some bootleg... theyre better than this one

  • @sonnic1995 keep your voice as "God", ajaja nice mistake

  • @grannarugoku lol

  • smtimes he actually sounds like a small grl

  • those are one REALLY long fingers

  • Poor guy, rob really set the bar high (no pun intended) with the studio version of the song. Work of that quality is near impossible to replicate.

  • beautiful singing LOL

  • 1:32 AMAZING

  • I'm afraid of the singer...^^

  • Its sad to see people diss Rob here. This is a very poor recording. Too bad he couldnt sing so well that he could still sound great on a bad recording! Goddamn people, use your fucking common sense!

  • My cousin seen Megadeth, Judas Priest and Testament together in 1990 att the Palace. I evny him.

  • reali=y POOR cua man. realy i knou it is 1990 but men this suks hard . Ausen Song thou

  • 'point of entry' tour still my fav concert

  • here his throat is too tired after a lot of concert that year... you better see "judas priest -painkiller-chile 2005" he sings better and even when he was already 5 centuries old!!! I was there, it was great.

  • Rob's a disgrace today. Once he was the best vocalist in the face of the earth. Well, nothing lasts forever. Thanks for all the good songs Judas gave us.

  • @barcori wouldn't go as far to say he's a disgrace

  • @barcori

He may not be able to hit the high notes he used too, but he is still a hell of a good singer for the type of music Priest does

  • Rob sounds like he's on hellium

  • @BarabaChaos93 Bad joke: he is on Hellion.

    Sorry, I needed.

  • @frikisupremo You're fucking awesome dude!!!

  • @BarabaChaos93 But he still rocks, and he will rock untill his spikes will get black like leather!!!!!

  • I have been to several several several Priest concerts and his voice sounds way better than you hear it on live recordings. I admit it sounds strange on this but in person he just kicks ass!

  • epic solo

  • epic solo

  • he must of cleaned out a whole birthday party with all that helium he sucked in before the concert

  • SO GOOD GUITAR SOLO...ONLY PRIEST CAN DO IT...

EXCELLENT ROB PERFORMANCE IN THIS LIVE

  • SO GOOD GUITAR SOLO...ONLY PRIEST CAN DO IT

  • Eric Cartman sings Painkiller. Never thought i would hear this...

  • cantar esto en directo es JODIDAMENTE DURO

  • Glenn's solo FUCK YEAH

  • He did a good job though, gotta give him credit. That is a hard song to do live.

  • poor rob...he don't have the voice as a time...

  • Elmo Halford

  • 0:56 smurf falls to his doom!

  • @1999binkybot

copy of one nice comment at the other live version of painkiller ;)

  • @1999binkybot hahahahahahaha! that comment made my day!!!!!!

  • @1999binkybot Hahahahahahahahahaha!! Goddamn right!!

  • @1999binkybo 1:33 multiple smurfs falling to their doom

  • he could sing it other wise he wouldnt of even bothered doin it in the studio, when you do a long tour your voice does start to fuck up some nights and he was 40 then

  • ok i really have to say something to some people here now.FUCK OFF YOU!everyone who says that he never could sing this song live and ripper sings it much better fuck you, i have seen robs performances of painkiller on stage ripper can only dream about to sing it so close to the studio version, the sound quality of this video is bad this is the problem and not halfords voice.I saw it live in 2005 and 08 and it was great!

  • @richis404 Fucking eh bro. Poeple are judging off of a recorded youtube video. Go to the damn concert people. Halford still does the business!

  • @dancraineable thank you and you can also find videos on youtube where his performance is much better than here

  • hahhaha! 4:38 LOL!!

  • @NoSmile123 yes i have to agree rob was blinded by the light.

  • @NoSmile123 *bump*

  • I voted unlike only for 2 reasons :

    1) A somehow failed solo

2)Halford just can't sing on stage

  • @superkouklosful bet you never saw them live, the quality of this vid is just fuckin' lame, you can't judge these supertalented musicians on that

  • @superkouklosful I agree :/

  • Rob sounds like he's on helium

  • this is shit for DEat!!!!!

  • @stefancobra It may be very hard to sing live however Tim could sing this perfectly with Judas Priest. I honestly have no heard him screw up with this song live once.

  • @DavidKinner honestly, wen it comes to live performances of this song between Tim and Rob, i prefer Tim, he always nails it and then some in his own way, Rob just doesnt do this 1 live very well, nt sure wy, but ofcourse, the studio version of this song will always prevail !

  • @laithlaith91 Nope nothing on the original, but live he is the only one that can do it justice.

  • @DavidKinner

Tim could NOT sing it perfectly and Tim is younger than Rob, I bet if they recorded Painkiller in 1980 he woulve nailed it at every concert.Just look at their concerts back then!

  • @ThrashTillDeath123 Show me a performance that Tim Screwed this song up on then? I know for a fact if Rob did this song in his younger years he would have been able to nail it, but he didn't so as far as their performances go of this particular song Tim has him beat.

  • @DavidKinner

Uhm, Im sorry, I was a little unprecise.I just meant that Tim cant sing it like the studio version.

Dont get me wrong I dont think that Tim is bad.Sorry, I think I misunderstood you there!

  • @DavidKinner Tim absolutely did not sing this song perfectly. None of the songs were at all how Rob sings them. For crying out loud he messed up the words of Turbo Lover at the House of Blues in Orlando. In the really slow beginning part.

  • wtf is that?The smurfs?

  • @stefancobra I just think it would've sounded better without the harmonizer.

  • There's some odd harmonizer on his voice at some moments. At least it's clearly not pre-recorded backing vocals, considering how cheesy and fake it sounds.

  • to all ya folks watch painkiller from Halford's anaheim live dvd and you see that he still has it heres the URL for it /watch?v=CLouRc1VUo4

  • 62 assholes who didnt like the best heavy metal band ever

  • TRUE METAL!!!

  • Fail to sing painkiller is no shame. Owens was kinda able to sing it really well (though guitars were tuned lower even on Owens' live performances) but the studio version is full of effects apart from the fact that it's made in segments of course. Tthere's NO way for this to sound live as it does in studio version. But if we can have that huge songs i forgive them for not being able to do them live. Tipton at least should play the solo better.. Sometimes he seems noob when trying to solo live.

  • ...so, in theory (as well as in practice)...Rob's delivery in the studio is done in careful increments and segments...he's well aware that whatever vocal approach he exacts per song is what he'll have to honor on stage as best as he can...and with a monster like THIS....precious few vocalists could ever attest to having any better a time of it than Rob ever did/does...

  • Look...here's the deal, okay? If you think Rob cut the ENTIRE vocal track to 'Painkiller' in ONE take when they recorded this song, you have NO idea how musicians work in the studio...here's how it works: Rob will sing a series of lyrics, say, a stanza's worth...and stop...whoever's at the producer's helm will then render an opinion of how it's sounding...Rob too, will evaluate what he did and determine if he can do it better. When Rob's ready, they roll tape again, and he sings again...

  • Comment removed

  • What went through Rob's mind when he realized he had to sing Painkiller live: "WHY THE FUCK DID I HOLD THOSE NOTES SO GODDAMN LONG!?"

  • @Bakazuraz LMAO Bobby sounds like Mickey Mouse while singing high-pitch

  • @Bakazuraz ahahahahaha !! soo true !! lol

  • @Bakazuraz must be why he stares at the floor for the entire song

  • @Bakazuraz

If it was me, i'd be thinking nothing due to the sudden lack of oxygen to my brain.

How he can hold those higher notes out as long as he does at the volume he does it at (un mic'd) ive no idea.

Lots of vocal training i guess

  • Listening to this he is not that good live. He falls well short of his recorded version, The recorded version, when he sings the words "Painkiller" at the end, he like breaks the world record for the longest time. Here in Detroit he can't even go half as long. And his vocals are off the mark the whole concert. Geoff Tate of Queensryche is a lot better.

  • judas priest Fuckin ricks! im glad im from detroit and have bad ass bands always playing here

  • judas priest fuckin rocks!

  • wowo man this performance was extraordinary\m/

  • the true god of metal

  • I don't care if he is gay or not, it just doesn't make any sense that he is also a christian.

That's like being a Jewish Nazi. Although maybe a little less violent, it still doesn't make sense...
