I wrote this poem a while back when I was 12, based on the history of war we were studying at school. Recently, four years later, I dug it up on my computer and decided to smooth out the crinkles in honour of all the people that died during the second world war. Please read it, I can assure you it's a valuable five minutes of your time just to read and remember them. Thankyou.

The pictures of the graves at the end remind me of when I went on holiday to France and my family and I visited a war graveyard and it was just shocking how many graves there actually were. What was even more shocking is when we visited the german side of the graveyard and how many more graves there were in comparison - over 1000 (and this is at a small graveyard!) and each grave had 4 soldiers buried underneath. It always makes me cry to think how many people lost their lives in these wars...
I am not an emotional person. But I always cry today. What gets to me is when I see the amount of graves and the names of the dead. Not to mention the people whose bodies were never found or lost. Each one of those men were somebody's son, husband, brother, father or friend. They all died to protect our freedom.

Everytime I walk to the bus stop, there's a man there. A man wearing his uniform, with all his medals. In his hands, is a bowl. He was giving out poppys, for free. I suspect he was in World War I, or II. Either way, he fought for our Country and our freedom. I'm sorry for everyone losses. Fortunately, I havn't lost someone in war, but my Great Grandpa was a medic in WW I.

Remembrance Day is for the Soldiers who died in World War 1 & World War 2 I always remember them they are the true legends who fought for our freedom I do not remember the Soldiers who have died in Iraq & Afghanistan as they know the risks and they sign their death warrants the minute they join the Army they don't have any respect for their families and they wouldn't be dead or lose limbs if they had not signed up for the Army.

All seven were KIA. Them and so many others like them, paid the Ultimate sacrifice, so we could be free. A Sacrifice that should always be Remembered. The true meaning of the word " Hero".
