My favourite is bringing up Marx. One of my profs is a Marxist historian so I always get bonus points with him for bringing up Karl but all my classmates always have blank stares on their faces.
im trying to better myself but looks like i gotta long way to go since i watch this video many times and still am scratching my head :( sad for a 23 yrd old
When I was in college, I took and honors science class. Every day the teacher would say something, this guy Tim would make a comment that was clearly wrong, the teacher would diplomatically correct him, then this girl who seemed to have no relationship with Tim would say "I don't think that's what Tim was saying. [insert her twisting what TIm was saying here]". It was so funny.
These are great. I did that kind of thing in college. It worked fine in science where I did know what I was talking about, but one time in English (short story lit) I was going on about my views about the assignment and a voice from the back of the room (of about 20) said "Why don't you just shut up!?"
I legitimately thought that being on "the straight and narrow" was actually being on "the straightened arrow" until about a month ago. I'm 23. How's that for letting people know you have room to grow!
To topple onto what Amanda just said in this video, which was more structurally assembled than the plot of Zombieland, any Shavian would agree that the text is greener on the other end. Does that make sense?
Well done. I'm married to the idea that words are fantastic to utilize when attempting to boost your social standing amongst friends. But one must remember, that words with three syllables or more are essential for sounding intelligent. Such as Juxtapose or Prostitution. Phrases such as consecutive infringements for prostitution will win you much recognition. What I'm trying to say is, memorize and episode of Law and Order: SVU, and you shall be grand. Thank you. Good job.
Hahaha, totally want to try these now while I'm just chilling with my friends. I can already see their terrified expressions and hear their cries of "Oh God, WHAT HAS COLLEGE DONE WITH YOU?!!?"
I don't remember subscribing to this channel, but this video appeared in my Subscriptions. But I'm glad that YouTube subscribed me to you, because that was entertaining.
This made me giggle a lot. Luckily for me, I only had to take part in open-discussion classes in first year - now I can get by just by falling asleep in the lectures and pretending to do work in tutorial :P
I got really frustrated in my music ed. class when we were supposed to be talking about ways to describe music and explain musical performances in comparative terms. My group was talking about two performances of March to the Scaffold from Symphonie Fantastique by Berlioz, and we explained various reasons why we liked one performance over the other, and a girl in the class said "No, the other one's better. The character's all wrong on that one!" WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN!?
I love this video just on that last point silence either means: A. You've said something astounding, or, B. You've said something moronic. I did a lot of speaking in class and as did one other girl but one tip is don't take two minutes of talking to form your question or just state information to your lecturer as if you're teaching them, she did that and her peers contemplated gagging her. In saying that I know they contemplated gagging me at times for arguing with her.
@genericfirstname This is true, the astounded!silence can be mistaken for dumbfounded!silence. Actually, both could be caused by moronic-ness or intelligence... hmm...
God, that annoys me so much when I hear people say "I could care less". I'm just like, "you know what you're saying makes no sense!". Yeah, pointless but I needed to say it.
Also, LOL at "Plato is definatly ripping off the matrix" XD
hair cut? it's true! #ughh. lmbo. #ohmygoodness you're ridiculous, but this was great. :) haha. I'm glad that we both had no idea what you were talking about. ;)
If you had no idea what you were talking about, then you just taught us how to sound smart, not just in the class room, but on Youtube! So then you actually do know what you're talking about :)
Jumping off of the points you made in this video, I feel like Plato would grapple with Hemingway on the penultimate point, in the way that it could be related to Good Will Hunting and the subtle imagery within Bambi. Does that make sense?
ughi HATE when people say they "could care less". ive even seen it in books and im like ''nnnnoooo!''

Many of these things hold true however I must add a few Lessons I learned From Culinary School:
Use the little French you know(preferably out of context)"You call that a beurre noisette?!"
Reference famous dead chefs "And how do you think Escoffier would feel about that plating?"
ALWAYS mock the French Chefs.

it also helps to start sentences with the word "typically" and to constantly remind everyone that correlation does not mean causation.
