  • I just saw your website on the recommendation of another homeschooler. It looks really interesting. I would love to give it a try. Thank you for taking the time to do this. I subscribed, too!

  • love this approach and i love the website. i've taught whole language and i've taught phonics from commercial programs. i'm not satisfied with either way. i love don's resources....they are inexpensive, simple to make, and they MAKE SENSE.

  • hey mr potter its me simon look at my channel and please subscribe

i know him personally i go to the school he teaches at

  • Hi Mr. Potter. I just wanted to say that I am currently using your program to teach my five year old to read. Its wonderful. I have already used it to teach three of my other kids to read. Intensive phonics is the only way to go. Your program has worked wonders with my children. I wanted to say thank you and this program has been al blessing to my family. Thank you so very much.

  • Great Video Mr Potter God bless,

I have used your website extensively for resources. Particularly the syllabaries. I emailed you a few months ago for advice but did not receive a reply. We teach in India. Is there a nice way to link blend phonics with the Syllabaries and a method to link them.

  • Hey, I'm a blind person... Is this George Bush?

  • Don, I'm a homeschool mom and taught my son how to read with this program and it was so easy and I had fantastic results. That was 2 years ago and he is a great reader. I am now going to start teaching my 5 year old daughter to read and will use blend phonics as well! Thanks for posting the Blend Phonics materials for free, may the Lord bless you!

  • Need to "clip" that initial consonant sound for b Don! :) You are inadvertantly adding a very slight vowel sound when introducing the b sound in isolation.

  • How NICE that someone is pushing phonics! Absolutely left to right, this is just what we teach in Sing, Spell, Read & Write. This is the way many old Spanish and French reading programs also teach reading! My best to you and your efforts! Christine D'Amico, Reading Specialist Bushwick, New York

  • Thanks Christine. I have yet to teach Sing, Read & Write, but I have heard some very good things about it. Left to right is the only way to go, and the sooner the kids are taught directionality the better they will read and the less chance there will be of them developing artificially induced whole-word dyslexia. Don Potter

  • You're welcome Don, keep pushing! Take a look at some of the Sue Dickson training videos I put up on my youtube site. She says the same thing. Additionally, I KNOW Bob Sweet, he is a great guy! He is for ANY program that works and knows his stuff. (He actually saw Sue teaching using SSR&W in her classroom and loved it) Let's get America literate Don! Get this out to Obama! He MUST know what's going on in our schools! YES WE CAN AMERICA!!! All my best to you!! Christine D'Amico

  • I have been to your website, and just found these videos. You are awesome. I am a homeschool mom and I absolutely love your info. I taught my first child to read at age 3 using phonics. I applaud you for your efforts and for making these resources available for free. I also tutor and I have found the same problem in the public schools.

  • I'm a young teacher of English in Russia. Even after graduating from university I have some questions. The most important for me now is how to teach the elementary pupils to read.

    Here I've got the answer.

I have already downloaded the books and consider them to be very useful and educational. The only thing for me now is to have enough patience to read them :)

    Thank you very much.

  • this guy sounds like George Bush. haha!!

  • I quite frankly don't know much about George Bush; but I do know how to teach reading. I didn't ask the government or any foundation for permission or funds to start my Nationwide Blend Phonics Campaign. I am certain that if every kindergarten and first grade teacher in America taught Blend Phonics just as Hazel Loring recommended, illiteracy would be a thing of the past in the country. Don Potter

  • You certainly do know how to teach reading and have incredible knowledge and insight into the history and methodology of reading. Your website is a huge asset to anyone wanting to know anything about reading or how to teach their own child. Thank you Don for all your hard work and for sharing your knowledge and insight in your videos and on your website!!! I'm a huge fan!!!

  • I am so tickled that My child Is one of the children you tutor and he has learned so much from you. You are the best. Thank you for helping my son so much.
