Wages under Carter fell nearly 10% IN REAL TERMS, Wages stabilized and even increased slightly under Reagan - but more importantly he set the table for both job gains AND wage gains for the next 30 years.
Go look at the companies that produced the jobs in the last couple of decades. A HUGE % of them had their start -OR were greatly expanded because of Reagan's policies.

Im a fan of Reagan's he is my favourite president, but to suggest that he would be the right person for the job today is inaccurate, I would actually say that Obama is a better fit today than Reagan would be. He dealt with Russia through strength (with great sacrifice by the CIA) but, in todays globalized environment and many new expanding economy's his strategy would be flawed. It is now an economic war, and many of the advesaries own much of the U.S debt and are major trading partners.

The Mujahadeen was a military force comprised of soldiers from all over the middle east. When the war was over, most of them went home. The fellas who started the Taliban were already there. Afghanistan is one of the few instances that nation building would have been a good thing. We might have prevented a lot of bullshit from happening.
