  • I love Svetlana in other roles, but not this one. David was amazing though.

  • i am so jealous right now.

  • I find it to slow , the tempo of the cello solo

  • @cellofacir Well, the conductor has to wait for the dancers. I'm sure the cellist would rather play at more musically correc tempi, but that's ballet for you.

  • I watched the telecast here in Germany over Christmas. I found the tempi extremely slow and boring alhough the orchestra playing was superb. The production was lacking in emotion especially Zakharova who although technically amazing, showed absolutely no emothion or passion.(Just watch her when the price kisses her - where was the love?? She just jumped up and smiled at the audience following her permanent smile on her face. Halberg is and was superb although his wig was unflattering

  • @iskenderuna I agree. Of all female soloists and principles at the Bolshoi, Zakharova is likely one of the worst Auroras. She is, of course, beautiful to watch, but her vacant, empty facial contortions some would call "smiles" quickly become boring. Aurora is not one of the most difficult characters to portray dramatically, so I don't understand why someone as talented as Sveta can't seem to muster a sincere smile. That being said, she and David are physically stunning together.

  • Normally this is in Act 2...did the Bolshoi add an act?

  • @Firestarjude Of course not. Actually I was only a little wrong. I will edit the title. The ballet consists of prologue and three acts, but usually it is shown with one intermission. This adagio is from the second act.

  • I have noted your comments, and I'm sorry I did not praise the fine conductor, and the great orchestra which created this unique performance of "Sleeping Beauty" at the Bolshoi Theatre.

I was simply spell bound........ by the video you have posted.

  • A great performance, pulling together the greatest talents from around the globe. Dancers like David Hallberg (USA) and Svetlana Zakharova (RU) and stage designers from Italy staging a spell bound performance in front of an excited International audience.

Thank you for this fine video clip, but let us see more.

  • @apassionante What about the orchestra? 8)

Right now downloading the whole piece in better quality. Will try to upload it to youtube - or at least some highlights. 8)
