  • Be careful!!! I once caught an elephant in one of those and he was pissed off!

  • it may be easier to baton the notches into the stick instead of whittling them in. just a thought for your next adventure. if you forget your saw again

  • i use one foot wide snares for hundred + pound wolves in canada.... u might want to use wire snares like 22 gauge and make them 4-6 inches wide for bunnies... too funny??

  • sweet vid

  • Hey guys i make survival videos along with gun videos hunting videos check me out plz like my videos sub and pass the word on i need more people to know about me before i make more and more videos thanks

  • Comment removed

  • thats funy

  • Thanks this video helped a lot and nice predator clip too

  • what book is that?

  • @frogseb army issue survival manual. Old boy scout books have good diagrams too.

  • Very good instructional video. Perfect show how to set up a snare trap!

  • what book is that?

  • Hahahah this was a good instructional vid, it was funny too!

  • Insane

  • Insane

  • thats not gonna work you have too much string tied to the tree and the middle stick

  • that book you have is that a royal ranger adventure in camping book

  • ES de las mas simples y utiles q he visto ....very nice

  • Cool video, I had not seen a trap like that. The only thing I would change is that the noose would be wire instead of string so my dinner wouldn't chew his way out.

  • thank you for the video. Its Nov. 4, 2011 now and a very necessary skill indeed.

  • 4.44 look at his eye he look wird

  • useful easy trap, thanks :)

  • muy bueno. Gracias por la enseñanza!! thanks !!

  • did you catch anything

  • Esta trampa funciona a un 10 % si el animal no arrastra el lazo no se acciona, y no se alcanza el objetivo

  • Use fishing line. What book is that

  • i have that same book that he has you should get it its fm 21-76 survival

  • What are they catching at 1:51 King Kong =)

  • animals are most alert when getting out of there burrow so try and make a walkway forcing the rabit to go to your trap

  • i just bought a 68 acres freestall farm that can hold 400 head of cows and it was on market for 2 yrs so it is infested with rabbits and woodchucks stuff like that and i wanted to gain some ground back for living so thats why i was looking but i was wondering if i could use like electrical wires and stuff like that for nooses becuase there is a lot of that laying around and all wondered if u could tell me how i can find out if a burrow is no longer being used(how do i tell, or can i)

  • I used it on a cat :D

  • @LionsOfTheSafari

That is pretty sad if it's true. You are pretty sad, if its true.

  • @standupgun what was the book in the beginning

  • @TannerDiedam The book was the S.A.S. survival guide. You can buy it online.

  • @standupgun

is it small coss if it is i have it

  • @standupgun Naw, I'm actually pretty happy. Since it worked and all.

  • @LionsOfTheSafari

I am going to assume that you are full of $hit, and that you are just attempting to annoy, but if not, perhaps you could post a video or something to prove your exploits? I am sure I know some animal rights activists that would love to visit your channel... :D

  • @standupgun Did you guys ever think it was a feral cat? :S

  • @standupgun u are talking about trapping animals but you are picky as to which one someone uses this trap to catch? weird

  • @Breckboarder1989 "weird"? Well look at it this way, I support gun ownership. Yet I don't condone people using guns to hurt innocent people. I personally would only trap an animal if I was in a starvation situation. Certainly not for fun, to a domesticated animal that may be someones pet.

  • @standupgun I trap animals that are of nuisance to me and my livestock, I don't eat them. I do hunt, and i do eat what i kill. Domestication is not the issue here, as you cant tell, what do you think animal control does everyday?

im sure none of those free roaming animals are pets or they wouldn't pick them up right?... WRONG! Why is just understanding the way things have to be so hard for people these days? People will always be killed, as will animals, for many reasons that are above you....

  • @Breckboarder1989 Well I always try to avoid killing anything if I can help it. But that's just my personal philosophy. I used to hunt, but no longer do. But I would, again if I had to. I have come to appreciate life a little more is all and hate to see it lost, unless my own survival is on the line. It's not complicated. Perhaps you ought to define "nuisance", would a neighbors barking dog qualify?

  • @standupgun cats are a NUISANCE HERE....there are no squirrel , chipmunks and very few birds here cause of fricken CATS....hang them all....I shoot 1-2 a week with my BOW...I see different cats every few days...you would not believe what 4 wild cats can do to a med. size dog.....

  • Respond to this video... Very good video though.....

  • @LionsOfTheSafari u sick twisted fuck

  • this is a pretty simple trap imma try it on my neighbor hood cats cuz they always come in my yard n if i used my bb gu it would be obvious i did it we live in an old ppl neighbor hood lol only lik 15 kids out of lik 500+ homes

  • @joeythemanduran

Please do not use this sort of trap on cats in your neighborhood. That is disgusting. Please save it for when you are in a survival situation and you will die if you don't find food.

    Please.

  • @joeythemanduran i was just fucking around lol dont get all hurt

  • @joeythemanduran using traps like this on domestic animals could land you in alot of trouble. I do cruelty investigations all the time of this nature. Depending what state your in it may be a felony. Pm me and I'll give ya some ideas how to keep the cats away without killing them -rich D.

  • Great video, and even better comments. Gotta love stupidity - and not so much the different viewpoints on eating meat or not, just the lack of ability to express said opinions. Good times. I'm going to apply these principles to trap a raccoon that's been decimating my chicken coop - two ducks and six good chickens so far. I'm all about Buddhism and letting everybody live and get along and all the rest of it, but, at this point, of course, you realize, this means war.

  • The #110 Conibear is the survivalist's best friend.

  • bear grylls aint got shit on this guy

  • nice video

  • @ilovetennis66

Thanks, I am embarrassed at my poor skills back then, and although the snare constructed here is poorly done, the principle is the same. Hopefully it comes across. :)

  • Wow all the people complaining about animal cruelty go lock yourselves up in your house with your TOMS shoes, macbook pros, and your 15 cats, because the world doesn't want you anymore. There's a place for people like you and its called California, get there as fast as you can. One tank of gas in your crappy Prius should do the trick right? It's a rabbit, it's not his neighbors cats, his dogs, or any other animal that it would be considered cruel to, so if you just want to complain, don't post.

  • whats the name of that book

  • @00Kaporal

The book is the SAS survival guide. Can be found at any army surplus store or online book store.

  • if your an animal lover thats great so am i but im also an avid hunter as well, where in the hell do you think all that meat in the store comes from, what about the medicine you take that was tested on animals. It is far more humane to hunt an animal that has lived free its entire life than to slaughter a cow that has lived in horrible conditions being pumped full of antibiotics and hormones

  • @cbr6864 that being said i personally dont use snares but would in a survival situation

  • i forgot to bring a saw to

    :P

  • Don't put your snare right outside the hole put it in a rabbit run where they run every day like this so everybody can catch more rabbits !!!!!!

  • yo where'd u get this book and what does it

    talk about?thx

  • Great video. I think this would also work for larger animals, such as a pig or coyote. I don't think you necessarily need to lift the animal off the ground. As long as the loop cinches up on the leg, the animal should not be able to escape.I think this trap would work fine for a pig.

  • @KRIEGLER011

Thanks for the feedback bro, rest assured I would only use a trap like this if my survival depended on it, I am not big on animal cruelty either, however...feel free to try to track me down, just mind your step...

    :)

  • @standupgun BUUURRRN jk but this is some cool stuff bro

  • Comment removed

  • @KRIEGLER011 so for killing an animal he deserves to be tracked down and murdered slowly ? wow thats a little fucked up man

  • @KRIEGLER011 dude, do you understand how the food chain works? well you should learn a little bit more about ecosystems and food chains, which we are at the top of. I am a vegetarian, so I don't eat meat but that's only because of the way we kill the animals so inhumanly. there is nothing wrong with hunting (well a gun is a little bit of an advantage) and definitely if your survival depends on it.

  • @KRIEGLER011 its only animal cruelty if you kill it slow....

  • @KRIEGLER011 u fuckin hippie asshole ill escort u to mexico. fuck you

  • What book are those illustrations on, whether you want to tell me or not, could you message me rather then comment it. Great upload though man, really helpful for people going for a full woodland bushmaster experience.

  • Thanks man, I now the theory but now I see it how it does in the field.

  • its a tarp

  • What i do when camping is gut the rabbits, remove the head, and leave the skin on. When the skin becomes a dark brown or even charred, should be good to eat!

  • Good video but if need be I'm shootin my game.

  • question regarding eating the rabbits... The rabbits constantly get into my yard, destroy my lawn and then crap everywhere. My dog then goes out and eats the rabbit crap and gets worms from it. My question is, considering the rabbits and worms of some kind does that mean the meat is contaminated in some way as well? Or am I ok as long as I don't puncture the innards when cleaning the rabbit? I also assume the meat needs to be thoroughly cooked or reach at least 140* to kill any bacteria?

  • @syclone1931 Just treat it like pork, thoroughly cooked meat will be safe.

  • just wandering. Have u ever made a cross bow trap? Because i did once with just a regular bow and arrow which was activated by a trip wire, but was rather crude. I was wandering if you could make a vid on crossbow traps?

  • may i ask wht book tht is u were looking at about traps?

  • @hellotherehumane

I agree, it is disgusting...in fact all of nature is pretty cutthroat and disgusting when you look at it honestly. The only reason to "trap" that I can see is to preserve your own life in a survival situation...which is why I posted this video...without shame. ;)

  • Im sure that predator trap will yank the rabbit's head off.

  • @PikabooxxD

    Clean off.

  • @PikabooxxD hahahahahaha it'd launch the body like 200 yards in the air

  • great, except for when something is in the noose, it is not easily activated. you may think this isn't so important, but in reality, its the variable that determines whether or not you succeed.

  • @rwk245

You are correct sir, this setup I did here is rather poorly executed...I only leave it up to show the basic idea. Thanks for the feedback!

  • @standupgun

of course, i didnt think u were trying to be too specific, the basic idea is what the people want!

  • @standupgun does it help if you crouch down and yell "kill me i'm here" to catch the rabbit?

  • @mec554

    LOL.

  • where did you get that book on traps

  • @pyro4869

I bought the book at a local army surplus store, you can easily find it online. It's not a book on traps though...but rather survival...with a chapter on traps. Good luck!

  • @standupgun Interesting book. What is the title?

  • is that the ray mears guide?

  • great videos keep up the good work :D

  • Gratz Dude Great Work! :]

  • "i wasnt smart enough to bring a saw" lol

  • STOP TRAPING I USED TO BE A TRAPER BUT WHEN I SEEN TRAP/SNARE....WE HAVE TO STOP THIS IT MADE ME QUIT TRAPING

  • @huntingwoodsman800 did you mean to say i used to be a tripper?, you speak many gud engrish

  • @huntingwoodsman800 these traps are more for survival purposes if you where lost in the woods you would no choiuce to make something like this in the wilderness its kill or be killed and when you are lost in the wilderness you are part of the food chain i was lost for a month in the canadian wilderness and i had to do things like this to stay alive

  • @bowdude21 my bad for being a dipshit yeah good piont for a sec i thought u did it for fun!!

  • the trigger was too hard to release

  • @ChiiKiT0

You are right, looking back I see that this was a poor setup, however the principal is the same...it just needs some fine tuning. Thanks for the feedback.

  • instead of notches in the beging you can get branches shaped like y's

  • oooh Survival Book haa

  • you dont always need a sapling just use some weight over a branch

  • good predator reference

  • @gynecolog1st

Thanks, sadly I get MOST of my inspiration from the movies from my childhood.

  • just wondering but could you consider making a non lethal trap for say research because i see these traps as being fatal for the animal cause i wanted to catch some animals but i dont want to be responsible for cleaning and eating one

  • @mikeandike76

My camera is down for now, but pm me what type of animal your trying to catch and I will send you a link on how to catch it without harming it.

  • @mikeandike76 just put some peanuts in the palm of your hand set thex to a tree in the woods and be very patient when the animal smells the food and gets close enough grab it , but you have to be fast or it will escape ... lol

  • What Book Was Dat?

  • Thats way better than how i do it

  • u sound like jack black , sortof

  • could you please post results of your traps

  • @ chris8496

To be honest with you , I am not in the habit of using these traps...except in a survival situation.

  • why cant i ever find a vid of an animal ever getting caught in one of these.

  • whts the name of da movie at 1:46

  • Predator.

  • @standupgun Was/Is a damn good movie..

  • Could you please tell me the name to that book?

  • The book is the SAS survival guide. Can be found at any army surplus store or online book store.

  • Thanks!

  • Ugh this is horrible. It's like something of Saw sickos

  • I agree, mother nature is pretty horrible when you really look at her. But if you want to survive in HER world you had better learn to live by her rules. Eat to live.

  • i just don't get why there aren't many traps that kill instantaniously coz i heard with snares take minutes to die which is cruel.

    :'(

  • Well I mean you can't be picky if you want to survive, and there's a simple solution. You have a knife. When you catch something, finish it quick.

  • Nice vid man, finally a good snare trap thats not too hard to make. I haven't done this before, so where do you put the bait? How do you get the animal to trigger the trap. Thanks and once again great vid.

  • Thanks for the feedback, I would place the bait on the opposite side of where you expect the animal to be coming from. The idea being to encourage it to crawl through the noose, rather than going around to the side.

  • what the name of the book ?

  • I forgot to mention to bait the trap, and to camouflage it, oh well... you get the idea.

  • sweet ive never seen it done like that before. looks like it would work pretty well
