ofcourse the wall collapses that way when the machine is pushing it. usually when you push something it falls to the opposite direction. btw does anyone know the name of the song ?
thats why you spnd the money and hire a professional company. Now they how to spend more money anyway paying for all the damage. they deserve to pay for their stupid decisions. stupid stupid
The operator's moves are jerky and tentative; his moves show a poor understanding of physics and construction; the barriers are obviously inadequate and merely for show; traffic should NOT be moving in those streets with this going on! This sort of a sideshow is an embarassment for the entire industry.
Instead of stopping after the first collapse onto an open street to see whether there's a better way of approaching this demolition, this fool company keeps on smashing and risks everybody's safety, dropping another slab of concrete onto the other street? This driver needs to be fined, the supervisor taken out of the construction industry forever and the company have its license taken away. Will any of that happen? Having lived in Vancouver, I say with confidence: probably not.
Fuckin idiots. A child could've seen that a tiny, short blue fence wouldnt prevent that wall to collapse onto the streets. Get a clue. Widen the perimeter of the fencing, and give more room for yourselves to complete the demolition process.
@Tombzy it was 2 different guys. after the first wall fell over, he got out and an older gentleman took the controls and knocked the second wall into the neighbouring street
as a certified Vancouver, B.C. safety officer I have never heard of fucking "Global"; and they DO NOT have COMMAND of their work area or the fall radius. WorkSafe, hangem high!
That was rough ... There should have been some cables tied to those walls to keep the pressure inward. That first incident was inexcusable, the second should have had an engineers input before attempting. Just my 2 cents.
This is a major violation, and the company will likely be fined. The site foreman should have told the excavator operator how he would like the walls safely knocked down. Some operators have never done demolition but only to have done excavation. The company is lucky it did not hurt or kill anyone. Hopefully, the company will learn from this.
I don't know what is more scary: the fact that the first wall fell into the street, or the fact that after the first incident, they knocked the second wall down the same way.
Me thinks WorkSafeBC will be contacting you in the next few days.
Ok, that was OBVIOUSLY going to happen! I could tell before it showed! The way they build outside walls, there's a separation between floors pulling it is nfg! STUPID
@ilivehere1 They are "break away" poles so that in the event a car hits it it will break off so there is less damage to the car, if it was concrete it would likley of been different.
