As the war in Iraq ends and the soldiers walk up the hills to the helicopters to return to their families and all everybody decides to make peace with no more blood and gunfire. This song will be playing.
Unpure, filled with false moves, and things that just aren't right, singing as if it's the most normal thing in the world, unknowing of the faults in their acts, or just ... not round
If anyone says once more that Roger sounds like Pink Floyd ill scream. He was Pink Floyd. He was the main writer. Dave's a great guitarist and song writer in his own right. Roger, though, was the driving force behind pink floyd. Rejoice in this talent. He's put it out there for the whole world to enjoy.
All of us who have sharp awareness of reality feel many moments of discouragement but let us not forget that light shines brighter in the darkest hour. Big crises always elicit the best of human nature. The Tide is Turning :)
One of the all time best selling artists worldwide...ever...and top 5 in rock bands i believe...2 of the all time best selling albums...the tours...longevity...ingenuity...an album on the charts for what...17 years?! that will never happen again....
Pink Floyd is an outstanding but also the most overrated band in the history of pop music. I appreciate some of their work but they created also the most pretentious and boring album of 20 th century - Final Cut. However, Tide Is Turning is the last great song of Roger Waters. Beautiful tune, brilliant guitar a la Mark Knopfler and wonderful mood.
@MrScorpions4ever - I correct my opinion - Pink Floyd is the most overrated band in the history of pop-rock music. And one more thing. The tide is turning wasn't Water's last great song. It was only Lost boys calling. I completely forgot about that one. Sorry. Unfortunately by recording The final cut, Floyds really touched the bottom of boredom. That album was a real disaster. No wonder the rest of band wanted to ged rid of Water's since then. I do understand them.
@frubtok7 Pink Floyd = psychodelic rock band. very very very little to do with pop. "Overrated" is ur opinion, and its no point arguing about that. I dont think they are overrated or underrated ;)
The final cut seems to be a hate/love album, kinda like his first real solo Pros and cons of hitch hiking. I love them both. And Roger left Pink Floyd, they didnt kick him out. Now you know that ;)
I remember when I got my first girlfriend a few months ago. I was so happy because despite countless tries I was always lonely in my life, wondering when things were going to change. They did, but now I'm at square 1 again. That's why this song is so bittersweet for me. You could say it's point is not relationships, but that's the beauty of music, you can relate to it in many ways. Good music, that is.
They knew what the 26th of March was all about, they knew what was happening to millions of future students and public sector workers, they knew just how important this weekend was to thousands of people all across England, Yet they refused to lay on support for students from Bradford University wanting to stand by their fellow comrades in London this weekend. Once again, the Bradford University Union has failed to deliver.
When elected as president or prime minister, they should make them listen to this song, if they don't cry, they should be kicked out of office instantly
Okay, so Radio KAOS may not have been a 'genius' album, but it was pretty solid. If you call it, or 'A Momentary Lapse of Reason' for that matter, master-pieces then you're not making that accolade very exclusive, as albums like 'Wish You Were Here' really should rise above it (in my opinion).
simply a fantastic song , timeless masterpiece, sending out it`s message in which ever way you choose to take it , for me standing up for myself for once , taking charge of my own live i turned for the better, just like the tide did ! .......and hey am welsh lol male voice choirs haunting sound gives me shivers and always made me think of home xx
I love this song. I love the message of hope for peace. "Now the satellite's confused cause on Saturday night, the airwaves are full of compassion and light, with silicone hearts warmed to the sights of a billion candles burning. I'm not saying that the battle's won, but on Saturday night all the kids in the sun, wrested technology's sword from the hands of the warlord".

I think we are blessed to get any of this wondeful music and I think we should embrace and enjoy rather than bicker and compare...
the woman in the video is rogers mother and he is the baby waving his father goodbye to war. his father never returned and rogers lyrics were all inspired by a melancholy, sad, against the war theme because he never knew his father.
I hear what you aere saying but I think the point of the song was to draw attention to a certain instrument. its about the message the song conveys. : )
Of course, and maybe you're right that Gilmour would have taken too much attention (i.e. one of the reason for the spit of PF). But I still miss it in general. Love the song and the album though.
I'm having to learn to limit the guitar and other standoutish instruments in my own music, Roger has the right Idea, when you use less of somthing here and there it brings out the best in a mix and prevents the song from loosing it's focas.
To me, this video is strangely reminiscent of the "Bring the Boys Back Home" scene of " The Wall" movie . When the men are coming outta the mine sound a lot like the voices used in that scene.
i dont believe in prophets but Waters really makes me take a double take.this is a great record. much better than the Water-less momentary lapse of reason.and on this record he eludes to some stuff that seems to be an eery revelation years later.note his references to war in the Desert between the 'cowboys' Americans and the oil sheiks etc. also on the final cut you here the line get your hands off my filthy desert.years before the Iraq-America wars in1990 an2003-?interesting and a bit scarey.
@peacenikkle Nice comment,by the way, it's "allude",anyway what's even more eerie,is the line from the title track (Radio Waves} is "Oklahoma City,Radio Waves" long before that s#*t happened!!
All coal miners walk off the job around the world, no longer is in necessary burn dead plants and animals to create energy, we have found a renewable resource, the hot air that is produced from Obama is enough to sustain the world forever, now everyone is Free.. Roger can see the future
@jmldspt NOt Grergorian Chants THATS A WALES MALE VOICE CHOIR The Male Voice Choir stops singing, the village is dying. ... Billy makes contact with Jim a DJ at Radio KAOS, a renegade rock station ...
I think Rogers main problem since he left Floyd is that hes been trying to do the wall again when he should try something completely new but i do like the things hes done on his own amused to death is the only one of his albums that I can really get into though
KAOS was a great concept and I remember seeing "Radio Waves" and "Sunset Strip" frequently on MTV. However, this track was the best song on KAOS and only song on the album that has held up today and the track I still like. The remainder of the album today sounds very 1980s (though a great album but has sonically aged the poorest). Amused to Death was a great album and still sounds fresh whereas this sounds like a 1980s record (though aged better than some 1980s recordings).
an amazing song writer. all his solo stuff is quality .. perhaps not suited for mass appeal.. its not always easy listening.. it makes you think.. and that's part of roger's genius.
'Typical' ? 'Bluenose' ? 'Moron' ? Typical tim. You just had to pick out the 'Ranger' part didn't you. At least I'm not a traitor to my country like most of you 'Irish' people who were born and bred in Scotland. Aiden McGeady chose to play for Ireland rather than his own country, why is that ? Because he's a bigot. I wonder if you even know who the Huns were ?
The 80s were an incredible low in rock music compared to the 70s. This should be plainly seen. Pop music is trickier, because I'd personally like new wave and even stuff like A-Ha over disco and the Carpenters.
this guy is an anthem. a symbol of peace, justice, social equality. If every musician would be like him we will live in a far better world. But the mass is fool, full with egoism, illusions and wrong values. Just the minority feel in symbiosis with him. For that reason the tide has never turned, and never will.
Surely he is underrated. If you listen to his lyrics, you will understand what he wants to say and then you will understand that Roger Waters is a GENIUS.
Ron Paul wants to stop all these bogus wars based on the 9/11 false flag lie. Waters is a musicial genius.

scotranger ..typical bluenose moron.... the tides not turning for you huns,,,you will always be shit..

Beautiful. What a powerful song. Radio K.A.O.S. is Waters' best solo work.

One of the best albums of the 80s.

The 80s were an incredible low in rock music compared to the 70s. This should be plainly seen. Pop music is trickier, because I'd personally like new wave and even stuff like A-Ha over disco and the Carpenters.

whole radio KAOS album is very good

this guy is an anthem. a symbol of peace, justice, social equality. If every musician would be like him we will live in a far better world. But the mass is fool, full with egoism, illusions and wrong values. Just the minority feel in symbiosis with him. For that reason the tide has never turned, and never will.
cristoforocolombo986 3 years ago
Surely he is underrated. If you listen to his lyrics, you will understand what he wants to say and then you will understand that Roger Waters is a GENIUS.
simas94 3 years ago 8
I hate to say it , but if Roger had done this as a concept album with the Floyd then this would have been a bit of an anthem.
