i think you will find you are wrong a lack of vocal training and smoking cigarettes that messes up breath control is what the problem is. age is a factor and the way whitney used her voice she had no chance of keeping it like that drugs played a part but she was on drugs heavily right through her prime and no one ever picked up on it, if she stopped ciggarettes and started running her voice will be fine but age does cause wear and tear on the chords, its ignorant to think otherwise.

@chesneysimon - That is not true. Age does not do all that damage to vocal chords. Look at Roberta Flack, Josephine Baker, Patti Labelle, and so many others whose voices actually IMPROVED with age and over time. Whitney's downfall was the SMOKING and DRUGS - PERIOD.

Alex, I have to disagree with you. Age has nothing to do with this: it ahs been rpoven that hard drugs can negatively affect the voice. The human voice is an instrument and will last forever if you take care of it the right way. Leontyne Price was singing professional opera @ the Met until her late 50's and Whitney isn't even 50 yet. Whitney alone destroyed her voice by smoking crack. This is a well-known fact.
