The rule of thirds really works---I hardly ever take a photo where the subject is right in the center--actually kind of labels a person as a neophyte if all they take is centered subject shots---I have never used a DSLR I used a 35mm SLR and now only have a point and shoot digital camera. Next I want to get a decent cam like the XTI. I've been told it was a good beginner's SLR but also was told that about the Nikon D40.........But, if their customer service is crap then I may just get a XTI
Uhhh, I'm like trying to see what you are trying to share with us in this forum. I love my canon. I guess I was looking for more than raw fish and a text from the girlfriend. Hummm...??!!! Well Cheers... Oh yeah, what's with the live chat on the lower left???
slr's are great... you just need to maybe take a basic class so you know how the controls are like aperture shutter speed but id say its more fun taking pictures with an slr than with a point and shoot..
And I found out if you want to look through the screen you are no longer on the audo settings and it doesnt take the pack as fast as auto.... right? thanks!
I'd like to video my bike rides and other stuff and am thinking of either getting a flip ultra but worried about it shaking on the bike as it is so long so am thinking of getting a digital camera that can do video as well. Anyone suggest a digital camera that does video as well as or better than the flip ultra?

is he saying "Potsi" and I ? I thought Potsi was married! ! ! that being said, if he is talking about anyone else unknown...who cares? why does he tell stories that bore the crap out of people who have lives? yall really need a life to constantly listen to this putz.
Fuck off then, you may have thought your getting away with your comment but insulting people who like Chris is as bad as wactching your mother being dug up from her unworthy grave and done up her cracked ass i.e. by you. So go back to downloading porn and trying to rid the smell of the mop you used at work today.
I am into photography, and the "rule of thirds" can work very well , if it is used properly. It is good for a better view of a background. However if the person or thing is not completely in view of the picture it can look odd.
Checked in for XTi info as I just bought one and am waiting for the lens. Found title for this should be Photo 101 (or 100.) Didn't really say anything except he dissed Nikkon for peronal experience. Clearly a rambler who needs someone to talk to.
Canon is great -- I've had an xti since it was released and love it, and two years p&s camera to canon for repair after the warranty had run out and they repaired it for me for free, even paid for shipping and included a personalized note. That sealed the deal for me -- great company, great cameras.
ive had an xti for about 4 months and its absolutely amazing. quality of images is great. kit lens is crap though. i got the sigma 10-20 and its insanely better and i love taking wide angle rather than telephoto shots. and also Canon > Nikon!!!
I got the Canon Rebel XTI for Christmas as well. I love it and can't wait to put it in to production use. My best friend has the next Canon DSLR up and was impressed with the XTI. The kit lens that comes with it isn't all that great. A much better lens can be had to really fully enhance the abilities of this camera.
I live in Rochester, NY where Kodak is based and know a number of people that work for the company, so I'd like to say that they make a good product. I can't. Kodak digital cameras are, as a general rule, terrible.
In the 1971 movie "Little Murders" Elliott Gould played an existentialist named Alfred Chamberlain. The character was a photographer who couldn't take pictures of people.
The 70's were a different time. You could see exhaust, cars rusted, full service gas stations and people used actual currency.
Your hilarious. "The people who have no life society!" hahahaha

@KevalProduction fail. slr is a dslr. dslr just means digital, and slr is medium format. and not all dslr's take video.

@AMENTADESIGN
No, only the new DSLRs do. It's harder to have video on a DSLR than a point and shoot.

If you don't like the name, buy an Europian Canon
It's called Canon 400D/ XTi.
Or if you don't wanna buy it ,don't write comments with no meaning.

Hi photogapher91, I don't think I've ever come across someone who can't spell European before...Wow! You're a first.
mikongo 2 years ago
First , I didn't spell it , but I wrote it.
Second , I'm still learnin' english , because I don't live in USA, and I'm not an American.
Third , nobody pays you to correct our mistakes.
By the way you wrote , I think that you are 15.

The Canon 40D looks much impressive when compared to the Rebel XTi - but then again, it is in another price point and heavier.

D40, Nikon D40.
DavidTheDivine 4 years ago
Oh wow, very similar model numbering!
No matter what brand, Nikon and Canon are the top leaders - as evident by many forums on the subject.
I have much to learn about this SLR - before a purchase - not after.
I don't want to buy into something - learn about it - then regret the purchase.
